• According to Brown(1998), self-
concept is the way a person thinks
about himself or herself.
• self-concept is one’s mental image of
oneself.
3. • There are four dimensions of self-
concepts.

4. 1.SELF-KNOWLEDGE
• The knowledge that one has about
oneself.
• Self-knowledge involves basic facts
( age, weight and sex) and qualities
(sincere, athletic, intelligent) related to
oneself.
5. 2.SELF-EXPECTATION
• Involves the “ideal” self --- the self a
person wants to be. It is the setting of
present and future goals.
• What one expects of oneself; may be a
realistic or unrealistic expectations.

• Is the way people perceive their
competency in carrying out
significant role.
11. SELF ESTEEM
• Personal feeling & self-evaluation of
one’s worth.
• Self esteem refers to how people feel
about them selves.
• Two sources for esteem are self and
others.

of these pieces of knowledge
