Singapore heavily relies on conventional precast construction involving extensive use of precast planks, canopy beams, column & facade. The recent prefabrication trend, which is being increasingly used in the building industry, alleviating some of the environmental burdens associated with conventional construction. Several case studies were conducted on residential buildings in Singapore. The findings revealed that environmental, economic and social benefits of using prefabrication were significant when compared to conventional construction methods. This implies that a wider use of prefabrication techniques could contribute to sustainable construction in a dense urban environment on the other hand using precast components have adverse effects on the structure. Today, as much as 82% of Singaporeans live in public housing delivered by the HDB.HDB plans and develops public housing towns that provide Singaporeans with quality homes and living environments.
In the construction industry, construction defects and failures can occur during the design and construction phases of a project, or after a structure is substantially complete. However, while a design professional is responsible to produce complete, accurate and well-coordinated design and construction documents that are substantially free of defects; and a contractor is required to adhere to the design and construction documents, nothing built is ever perfect nor does the law require a perfect design. Furthermore, all buildings have an expected lifespan and even the structures of the ancient world will erode into a mound of sand given enough time. The eventual failure of a structure is an expected result rather than a manifestation of a construction defect. The question becomes what is a construction defect; how do defects arise; and how can defects be identified and managed?
A Case Study has been conducted to analyse Construction Defects on site, Remedial Measures & Preventable Practices at HDB Water Way Banks at Punggol East.

This document discusses a case study investigating the cause of cracking in newly constructed residential buildings near an apartment construction site. Through visual inspections of buildings and infrastructure surrounding the project, several findings were made:
1) No significant damage was found to infrastructure like drains and roads from piling work.
2) Nearby electrical substations showed no cracking from piling.
3) Cracking patterns in affected houses were uniform, with no structural damage. This suggests soil settlement in the housing area caused wall and floor failures, not piling work.
4) An oxidation pump house far from construction showed previous large settlement, indicating the phenomenon predated the project.

The Woodlawns condominium complex in Chicago was Dukane Precast Inc.'s first project using its innovative double-wall precast concrete system for low-rise multifamily housing. The system created insulated concrete walls that allowed the developer to achieve a brick facade appearance on a budget. The system provided fire resistance, sound control, and quick construction even in cold weather.
This document summarizes a student project to build a solar powered water heater. It describes the materials used, which were kept cheap to remain within budget. It details the construction process and testing of the prototype. Testing showed it increased water temperature over 31 degrees, exceeding requirements. Calculations determined the device could save money if used long-term by an individual, but may not be highly profitable to mass produce due to manufacturing costs. Further testing is needed to refine efficiency calculations.
This document discusses modeling the skewness and kurtosis of box office revenue data using the Box-Cox power exponential (BCPE) distribution within the generalized additive models for location, scale and shape (GAMLSS) framework. It finds that the BCPE distribution provides a better fit than the traditionally used Pareto–Levy–Mandelbrot distribution. The flexible four-parameter BCPE distribution allows modeling the location, scale, skewness, and kurtosis parameters of box office revenues as smooth functions of explanatory variables like opening revenues and number of screens. This overcomes limitations of previous models and provides a better understanding of box office revenues across different time periods.

The document provides a critique of the use of qualitative methods in health psychology research. It discusses some of the key advantages of qualitative research, such as gaining an in-depth understanding of individual experiences of health issues. However, it also notes criticisms of qualitative research from quantitative psychologists, such as concerns about reliability and generalizability. Overall, the document argues that while qualitative research has limitations, when conducted properly it can provide useful insights into areas not easily studied through quantitative methods alone. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches have strengths, and an integrated use of both may be most beneficial for research.

NCI penetrated the existing paint, forming a protective barrier and enhancing the paint color. The treatment saved repainting costs and extended the door's service life.
The leaking humidifier package units were custom manufactured without internal access panels or documentation, causing leaks from seam failures, welds, and drain piping. Repairs had to be completed within 12 hours to avoid damaging the customer's data center. The manufacturer, located in Jordan, and designer, on the East Coast, could not resolve the issues. Belzona products were selected and applied by an experienced contractor, sealing all joints and rebuilding seams within the repair windows. As a result, the customer, manufacturer, and other companies were pleased with the quick and effective solution.

28. Totally dry during normal temperature water test.
Customer: SEASPIRE INTERNATIONAL (No.20 Enterprise Centre)
Date Completed: Feb 2014
Problem: Epoxy paint gave way to low temperature hairline cracks which result in water
seepage onto epoxy flooring causing flaking of paint through various points within 2 tank at
pipe joints area. Most “Green” label water proofer does not withstand low temperature
operation and the contraction of membrane will cause water ingress/seepage towards
hairline cracks. The penetration of Seal Once MSC could reach upto 1’’ inch but subject to
surface porousity.
Solution: Grind completely and remove existing internal epoxy paint and apply 2-3 coats of Seal
Once MSC nanotech water proofer till surface cannot absorb further. Grind external leakage points
1m by 1m with the leakage point in the middle for water plug treatment with Seal Once Negative
Pressure Water (NPW) before applying 2 coats Seal Once MSC nanotech water proofer and the
problem were solved.
Active but green ingredient present inside Seal Once MSC will prevent the growth of fungi / algae
and only a sponge is needed to do maintenance cleaning inside the tank.
