The film opening consists of 5 scenes that introduce the main characters Maddie and Eve. In scene 1, they are seen roller skating and laughing together. In scene 2, they walk through town pointing at shops and arguing about where to go. Maddie drags Eve to the left where she wants to go. Scenes 3 and 4 show them biking in a forest and sitting together talking, with Eve comforting Maddie. The final scene has them in Maddie's bedroom watching a laptop together. Throughout, diegetic sounds are heard and the scenes focus on showing the close friendship between Maddie and Eve through their informal interactions.

“Here, look at this!”
Eve:
[Looking the wrong way and getting distracted by something else]
“What?”

[Looking in the same direction as Eve, concerned but interested]

2. [Grabbing Maddie’s arm and trying to pull her over to where she
wants to go, trying to take Eve to the right where she sees
something of interest]
“Over here”
Maddie:
[Linking arms with Eve and pulling her over to the left. Loudly.]
“Over here first!”
Maddie drags Eve out of shot to the left.
Fade out.
Scene 3:
Long shot of the Maddie and Eve on a bike ride in the forest.
Cycling alongside each other.
Diegetic sound.
Scene 4:
Fade in.
Two shot of Maddie and Eve sat on the grass in the forest, their
bikes next to them on the ground.
Diegetic sound.
Eve:
[Looking down and fiddling with a leaf. As if continuing a
conversation.]
“Yeh, I think so too”
Maddie:
[Looking at her friend. Embarrassed]
“Thanks for understanding”
Eve:
[Laughing and leaning her head on Maddie’s shoulder]
“Don’t be stupid, I don’t need thanks. What else do you expect me to
say?”
Maddie:
[Pause.]
“I don’t know what I would do without you!”
Fade out.

Fade in.
Evening. In Maddie’s bedroom.
Eve sat upright leaning against the wall, Maddie led with her head
in Eve’s lap. Watching something on a laptop.
