Q1 evaluation
Our film opening develops and challenges several conventions of supernatural and psychological horror films. It follows conventions such as featuring a priest as the protagonist, similar to "Annabelle", and having a human female antagonist, a common theme in films like "The Ring" and "The Grudge". It also takes place in a rural setting like many horror stories. However, it challenges conventions by not including dialogue in the opening scene like some psychological horror films. Additionally, our opening is less violent than some others, containing no blood or mass killings seen in other horror film openings.

Father Hope is walking near the town play park when he hears a faint scream in the distance. He runs down the path and discovers two people, one struggling while the other remains calm. The calm girl, Cecelia, has tangled hair, a pale face, and blood-soaked, cut hands. She drops the boy Fred, as Father Hope arrives in shock. Cecelia's eyes are black as she resumes strangling the weak girl, taking the boy's life by grasping his neck until he falls silent and dead. Father Hope then runs back to the church while Cecelia follows but gets distracted and walks off.
