Conventions of psychological horrors.
 Usually based in a real life scenario. This makes the
story believable and this creates the horror to the
audience as the possibility of it happening it more
likely – ‘based on true events’
 The killer usually appears to be normal looking
(human). This also makes it more life-like.
 Psychological horrors generally use ‘jumpy’ moments
rather than physical violence, as this scares the
audience more.
 Common settings for psychological horror movies are
big, old houses, woodlands, warehouses and schools.
This creates a sense of realism for the audience.
