Emmanuel Carancho Jr. started Scramble King in 2010 at age 23 with 400,000 PHP in capital. Scramble King is a food business that sells sago and scramble drinks. It has grown significantly since inception and now has 130 franchise locations nationwide. 3. Emmanuel or Mannix was born on July 11,
1987 in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
 Mannix grew up in a family of businessmen.
 His parents were in the pawnshop and real
estate businesses.
 Mannix would harvest fruits from their
backyard and sell them in front of their
house.
 Mannix
says: “After school or during
weekends, it became my habit to roam
around town looking that one day, I would
make history in the field of business.”


4. He and his sister bought a franchise of F
Salon and Body Spa and put several branches
in Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, La Union and
Baguio City.
 He aslo ventured into cellular phone
distribution and repair, and ink refilling
stations.
 He started studying prospective investments
and he found out that there were several
types and varieties of sago and “scramble”
drinks.


5. He researched ways to make his product
stand out among other refreshment brands,
and tried o understand the needs and
preferences of his customers.
 He formulate his own mixing style, choose
the perfect package, and conducted several
taste tests to about a hundred respondents.
 With a capital of P400,000 from his own
savings, Mannix opened the first stall of
“Scramble King” in May last year in front of
the family-owned Tres Hermanas Pawnshop.


6. He chose the name “Scramble King” to
convey the superiority of his products.
 The public’s response was overwhelming,
and it was then that Mannix realized he was
on to something big, moving him closer to
fulfilling his dream of establishing his own
brand.
 Being an impulsive and aggressive decisionmaker, his first steps into the refreshment
business were also hampered by a few hits
and misses.


7. Mannix shares: “Despite the success of Scramble
King, we were confronted with the realization that
we lack a well-organized team that will run the
business. We concentrated too much on the
development and technical aspects of the brand.”
 He understood that not all of his decisions were
sound, and he also needed guidance and advice.
 To iron out the initial difficulties, Mannix
organized the Midas touch Ventures Franchising
Corp., which would be responsible for research
and
development,
franchising,
operation
management, human resources, accounting and
finance marketing.


Scramble King started to branching out. It has
130 franchisees nationwide.

10. Scramble King has sponsored numerous
TV shows in major networks, giving out
prizes in game shows.
 He also has been donating to charities
and foundations.
 Mannix says: “My faith in God makes me
strongly believe that He is behind all of
this, and that He enlightens me on all my
plans and undertaking.”

