Scientific method
-The scientific method is a number
of steps that we take to solve
any problem.
- To understand these steps, let’s first
read this story.
Scientific method story
- One day, Little Andy was in a family gathering .
- They all sat together to have dinner.
- Then Andy told her mother “ Mummy, I
want to make lemon Juice for every one.
- Mum told her “ ok, dear but do you know
how to make it?”
- “ Yes mum “ she said.
- Andy ran to the kitchen and she was thinking “
A lemon juice needs lemon , water and sugar”
- She looked everywhere and she saw that
she can’t find the sugar.
“ Where’s the sugar?” she said.
-” I can’t find the sugar “ she said to her self.
- “ What should I do? “
- She asked her self a question:” What can I put
in my lemon juice that will make it sweet?”.
- Well , she started to search for informations:
what can be sweet like the sugar?.
- I have honey , jam and I also have chocolate.
- Then she started to make a guess “ I think
the honey will be good for the lemon juice “
- She Chooses the honey and decided to make a
small experiment to try it.
- she puts the water , the lemons ,and the
honey together.
“It’s time to taste it” she said.
“Oh , I hope it works”
-” Mmm, It tastes so good, My experiment worked” she
said.
- Her family loved it too , she was so happy.
- she decided to write down what she found so she won’t
forget it.
“Now, She has come to conclusion “Whenever I want to
make a lemon juice and I can’t find sugar ,,, I’m going to
use honey” she said.
- Now let’s try to answer some
questions together to find out
the scientific method steps.
- What was the problem that Andy saw
when she entered the kitchen to make a
lemon juice?
- She saw that she can’t find
the sugar.
OBSERVE (SEE) A PROBLEM
- So the first step in the scientific
method is to:
-When Andy couldn’t find the sugar,, what
Question did she asked her self?
- She asked her self: what can I put in my
sugar to make it sweet?
ASK A QUESTION
- So the second step in the scientific
method is to:
What other things she ( gathered)
searched for to put in the lemon juice?
-She gathered the honey , the jam and
the chocolate.
GATHER INFORMATIONS
- So the third step in the scientific
method is:
Was Andy sure that the honey is the right
choice?
- No she wasn’t ,, she just made a guess.
MAKE A GUESS “HYPOTHESIS”
- So the fourth step in the scientific
method is:
What did Andy decide to do to be sure
that honey is the right choice?
- She decided to do a small experiment
to make sure the honey will taste good
with her lemon juice.
MAKE AN EXPERIMENT
- So the fifth step in the scientific
method is :
After Andy’s experiment worked, What
did she decided to do so she won’t
forget what she found?
- She decided to write down (record)
what she found .
RECORD YOUR RESULTS
- So the sixth step in the scientific
method is :
-At the end of the story, what conclusion
did she made?
- She made a conclusion that she can use
honey to make lemon juice when she
can’t find sugar.
DRAW (MAKE) A CONCLUSION
- So the last step in the scientific
method is:
-So the seven steps of the scientific method is :
1) Observe “see” a problem.
2) Ask a question.
3) Gather “collect” informations.
4) Make a guess “Hypothesis”.
5) Make an experiment.
6) Record your results.
7) Draw your conclusion.
See a
problem
Ask a
question
Gather
informations
Make a
hypothesis
Do an
experiment
Record
results
Draw
conclusion
