This experiment tests the effect of parachute size on falling time. It is hypothesized that smaller parachutes will reach the ground faster than larger parachutes. The independent variable is parachute size with levels of 50cm x 50cm, 30cm x 30cm, and 15cm x 15cm. The dependent variable is time to reach the ground. The experiment involves constructing parachutes of different sizes from trash bags, string, and a GI Joe, dropping each from a set height, and recording the time to ground in a data table with multiple trials for each size.
