Because video can provide a break from the textbook routine and a novel approach to language learning, teachers can take advantage of the benefits behind the use of video in a language classroom to promote both teaching and learning. The number of ways in which video can be used in class to enhance learning is unlimited provided the teacher exploits at its full. One way to exploit fully a video segment and implement effective teaching strategies in developing writing is the use of graphic organizers (GOs). The use of GOs in writing helps learners approach a writing text in a metacognitive way since they are focusing on what they are doing and on how they are going to organize and recall information provided by a visual input to be transferred into written output. In implementing video and GOs in a writing class, learners are aware of how their paragraph will be structured (cause and effect, comparison and contrast, classification, problem and solution, for and against, procedure and sequence, definition).

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

GUIDE QUESTIONS
1. What kind of mixture is oil and water?
___________________________________
2. What happened to the cooking oil when mixed with
water?
___________________________________
3. What substance in the mixture is less dense?
___________________________________
4. How do you separate cooking oil from the water?
___________________________________
17. CONCEPT INPUT
Decantation
• A technique used in separating a less-dense
substance from a dense one.
• In the process of decantation, the mixture is
left undisturbed. When the components are
separated, the less dense substance could be
removed by scooping using a spoon or it can
be removed by slowly pouring out the less-
dense substance.
18. CONCEPT INPUT
Oil in water could be removed using the
decantation technique. The fats that float
in your sinigang could be removed by
decantation or scooping. Some of the
mixtures that can be separated by
decantation are the following: oil in
water, gasoline in water, Sinigang with
floating fats, mud and water.
19. APPLICATION (Elaborate)
Think, Pair, Share Activity
Let the learners find a partner to
think of a mixture that could be
separated by decantation. Let them list
down as many as they can.
20. GENERALIZATION
Read the sentences carefully. Write TRUE if
the statement is correct and FALSE if the
statement is wrong. Write your answers on your
paper.
_________1. Decantation is a process of
separating less dense substances from dense
ones.
_________2. We use the decantation technique to
separate salt from water.
21. GENERALIZATION
_________3. In the decantation technique, the
mixture must be disturbed to be separated.
_________4. Decantation is used to separate
gasoline and water.
_________5. In decantation, the use of a strainer
is very important.
23. REFLECTION
Self-check
Check (✔) the appropriate column.
Did you… Yes Partially No
1. separate mixture using
decantation?
2. perform activities with
caution?
Can you… Yes Partially No
1. identify mixtures that can
be separated through
decantation?
2. identify the process of
separating mixtures?
3. apply the decantation
technique in everyday
life??
25. POST TEST (Evaluation)
Direction. Identify if the mixture can be separated through decantation
or not. Write a slash mark (/) in the YES column if it can be separated
through decantation, and a slash mark (/) in the NO column if it can’t
be separated through decantation.
MIXTURES YES NO
1. spaghetti
2. ice cream
3. sand and water
4. oil and water
5. tinolang manok
26. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
In your notebook, cite three (3) examples of how
you are going to apply decantation in your daily
activities at home.
