The document describes the process of designing the front cover of a magazine. 2. Background
After planning which colour scheme to
use, I applied the chosen colours; red
and blue, into the front cover template
as seen over to the right. I also used an
“Exclusive” print in the right hand
corner to emphasise that the articles in
my magazine will be found only in my
magazine.
I used a blur tool to create the effect
that looks as if the white is
transitioning into the dark blue. The
red background for WHS was inspired
by the NME magazine.

3. Cover image
After implementing the colour scheme
and carefully deciding which colours
would be best suited I then cropped the
image of a sixth form student and
placed it on the front cover. The sole
reason as to why I have gone with the
colour blue, and a male student is to
show that Weatherhead Sixth Form is
not and should not be considered single
sex.
The magazine will also cover the boys’
sports such as football and cover any
upcoming fixtures or previous results.

4. Sub articles
Once I had placed the front cover
image in a suitable place on the right
hand side, I used the remaining space
on the left hand side in order to
create the sub-articles which
highlights the key, featured articles. I
decided to keep the font colour in
white as white on any other coloured
background stands out very well. It
also suits the magazine style .
Once I had decided on what titles to
use, i increased the font size in order
to make the articles standout, and
then changed the font size for a small
phrase about the article. The text
needs to be small in order to fit the
text into the left hand side.
