UK Universities are mainly government funded, with limited funds
available for grants to students. In order to avail a scholarship, a
student must have excellent grades and should meet the
requirements specified in the scholarship.
Many UK Universities have scholarships of upto £5000 specified for
students from India, although these are mainly based on merit.

3. Bursary, Grant or Scholarship?
A Bursary is typically given by a University based on a students low financial
capacity. It assists them to focus on their studies and avoid distractions such as
seeking part time or full time work in order to support their living expenses.
A Grant is often given for special academic /extra-curricula endeavours such as
sports or research, they are generally tied to the cost of the activity and not
generally awarded direct to the student.
A Scholarship is generally a part or full tuition fee reduction awarded to the
student on the basis of merit. It is often used by Universities to influence high
achieving students away from their competition and act an incentive to join their
institution.

4. Basis of Scholarship
You may be offered a scholarship based on the following criteria:
- Academic result in last qualification held
- IELTS score of at least 8 bands overall.
- First come – first serve basis
- Early Fee deposit
- Applying and freezing a seat in a course upto 1 year in advance.

fellowship plan.
The Commonwealth scholarship and fellowship plan allows
meritorious students residing within commonwealth countries to
pursue studies within the commonwealth.
The CSFP is one of the largest and most prestigious scholarships
schemes for international study in the world. Since it was established
in 1959, 27,000 individuals have benefited. It covers travel, living
allowances and all compulsory tuition fees.

6. Aga Khan Scholarship
• The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships
each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from
developing countries. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant and
50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a
year.

7. University of Birmingham Scholarships for
International Students
• The University of Birmingham is offering 18 individual scholarships
for international candidates commencing a one year Masters
programme. The scholarships are worth £10,000 towards the cost
of tuition fees for a one year masters course. These awards are for
tuition fees only and cannot be used for maintenance/living costs.

8. Bristol University International Office
Scholarships
• The University of Bristol is offering ten International Office
Scholarships for new international students who wish to pursue
undergraduate or postgraduate degrees at the University. The
scholarships are worth £8,500 which can go towards your tuition
fee.

9. Cardiff University Elite International
Scholarships
• In recognition of the outstanding talent of many international
students, Cardiff University offers a highly prestigious International
Scholarship Fund designed to attract and reward the brightest
students. The scholarships are available at both Undergraduate and
Postgraduate Taught (Masters) levels. The scholarships will cover
full tuition fees for the duration of the studies.

10. Chevening Scholarships
• Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship
programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
(FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to
outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the
world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK.

11. University of East Anglia Development
Scholarships
• The University of East Anglia is offering partial and full scholarships
for students from developing/low-income countries. The
scholarships are for Bachelors or Master’s Degree in International
development courses offered by the School of International
Development. Multiple International Development Scholarships
worth £1,000 fees awards and One (1) International Development
Full Fees Scholarship are offered to international taught applicants
on the basis of academic excellence and their personal statement.

12. Felix Scholarships
• Felix Scholarship Trust offers up to 6 scholarships each for Indian
graduates at University of Oxford, University of Reading & School of
Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) every year.

13. Gates Cambridge Scholarships
• Gates Cambridge Scholarships are full-cost awards for graduate
study and research in any subject available at the University of
Cambridge. The scholarships are open to all international students
from all over the world. A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the
full cost of studying at Cambridge namely: university fees,
maintenance allowances, airfare, and some dependent’s allowance.
About 100 new Gates Scholars are awarded annually.

14. London Metropolitan ISH Scholarship Scheme
• London Metropolitan University and International Students House
(ISH) offers a joint scholarship programme for international students
from selected countries who wish to pursue a Master’s Degree
Programme at the University. The scholarship programme offers a
full tuition fee scholarship and includes one year’s free
accommodation at International Students House.

15. University of Nottingham at Developing
Solutions Scholarships
• The Developing Solutions Scholarships are designed for
international students from Africa, India or one of the developing
countries of the Commonwealth who want to study a Master’s
Degree at the University of Nottingham and make a difference to
the development of their home country. Each year, 105
scholarships are awarded– 30 scholarships will cover the full tuition
fee while 75 will cover 50% of the tuition fee.

16. University of Oxford Rhodes Scholarships
• Established in the will of Cecil Rhodes in 1902, the Rhodes is the
oldest and perhaps the most prestigious international scholarship
program in the world. The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate
awards that support exceptional international students from
selected countries at the University of Oxford. A Rhodes
scholarship covers all university fees, personal stipend, health
insurance, and airfare to and from the student’s home country. A
class of 83 Scholars is selected each year.

17. University of Oxford and Cambridge Society of
India Scholarship
• The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India offers scholarships for
admission to the University of Oxford and the University of
Cambridge respectively.

18. Sheffield Hallam University Transform Together
Scholarships
• Transform Together scholarships are open to international and
European Union (non UK) students applying to study a full-time
postgraduate or undergraduate taught course at Sheffield Hallam
University. The scholarships include a full fee waiver (100%
discount) for postgraduate courses and half fee waiver (50%
discount) for each year of an undergraduate course (subject to
successful progression).

19. University of Westminster International
Scholarships
• University of Westminster awards scholarships to eligible students
from any developing country who wishes to study in the UK and
pursue a full-time Master’s degree in any field of study at the
University of Westminster. The scholarship awards full tuition fee
waivers, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from
London.

20. University of West England Global Student
Scholarships
• The University of the West of England, Bristol offers more than
£100,000 worth of scholarships for international students each
year. This includes the Global Student Scholarship and Chancellor’s
Scholarship wherein the recipient will be required to undertake an
internship working within the Global Student Support/International
Development Office. The scholarships cover the full tuition fee.

21. University of West London International
Ambassador Scholarships
• The International Ambassador Scholarship recognises and provides
financial support for outstanding students who wish to pursue a full
time undergraduate or postgraduate degree at University of West
London. The scholars will act as international ambassadors for the
University of West London. Up to 100 scholarships are worth up
to £5,000 ($7,500 USD) which can go toward tuition fees.

22. Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships
• Charles Wallace India Trust enables Indians in the early to mid
stages of their careers to spend time in the UK, helping them to
achieve artistic, academic and professional ambitions and to
broaden their international contacts.

23. Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA)
• Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA) is a UK scheme to
bring outstanding students from India, China, Hong Kong, South
Africa, Brazil, Russia and the developing world to come and study
for PhDs in top rated UK research facilities.

24. Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships
• Dr Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, is a graduate and
Honorary Fellow of St John’s College, University of Cambridge. In
honour of Dr Singh St John’s College has launched the Dr
Manmohan Singh Scholarships. These awards will enable
academically outstanding Indian students to come to St. John’s
College, University of Cambridge to study for doctoral degrees in
subjects like Science & Technology, Economics and Social Sciences.

25. Goa Education Trust Scholarships (GET)
• GET aims to provide Goan students with a platform to undertake
postgraduate study in the UK in any field of academic study. Since
the introduction of the scholarship in 2010, recipients of the award
have successfully completed their studies in a range of subjects
including Journalism, Education, Ancient History and Law. The
scholarship covers full/part tuition fees for the courses.

26. Inlaks Scholarships
• Inlaks Scholarships provide the opportunity to young people with
exceptional talent in any field to broaden their vision abroad and
improve their skills to operate in society. The scholarships are of
two types: university courses and specific programs. Scholarships
are granted at top American, European and UK institutions, for
funding requirements including tuition fees. Preference will be
given to candidates who have not yet studied abroad.

27. K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post-Graduate
Studies Abroad
• The K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies
Abroad awards an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 200,000 to
deserving graduates who are interested in pursuing advanced
studies overseas. Candidates must possess a First Class Degree and
be admitted to a foreign university. The selection is announced in
leading newspapers across India every January.

28. Narotam Sekhsaria Scholarship Programme
• This scholarship is known as interest free Loan Scholarship and this
scholarship is given for postgraduate studies in the field of Pure
Sciences, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Law,
Architecture and Management.. A candidate should be the citizen
of India and not be more than 30 years of age as of 31st Jan’15.

29. Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships
• Gain an internationally recognised qualification and take your
career to new heights. Scotland has 50 prestigious scholarship
awards worth GBP 2000 each for postgraduate students from India.

30. London Metropolitan Mahatma Gandhi
Scholarship
• The Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Programme at London Metropolitan
University has been set up to honour the major political and spiritual
leader of India, who is officially honoured as the Father of the
Nation. The scholarship supports one student from India and covers the
tuition fees for a Master's programme at London Met.
The scholarship will be awarded to the most outstanding postgraduate
student on the basis of excellent academic performance in India. The
recipient must also demonstrate the potential for leadership and social
change as exemplified by Gandhi.

31. The GREAT - London Metropolitan Scholarships
• The GREAT - LondonMet Scholarships – India 2015 is designed to
help outstanding applicants from India to study a one year Master’s
degree at London Metropolitan University. Each scholarship covers
up to £4,950 in tuition fees, the remaining tuition fees as well as
maintenance costs need to be funded by the student.

32. Queen Mary University of London Scholarships
The Queen Mary University of London has a range of scholarships
