During 0:22 and 0:25 the character above is at a crime scene and trying to re-create the
events in his mind. During this period the director uses the above 2 shots, firstly to tell the
audience he is analysing a crime scene through his facial expression which suggests he is
thinking/searching; the director uses a close up/ mid shot to achieve this. Secondly the shot
on the left displays to the audience what he is thinking about, the director uses a point of
view shot to allow the audience to see the clue/crime scene from his point of view. This
leads to the audience being integrated into the film in a sense; they feel like they are in the
scene to an extent.
These two shots which occur between 0:46 and 0:48 display the use of match on action and
tell the audience firstly that the character has noticed something and then gets closer to
investigate. The first shot is a mid-shot which is used to indicate to the audience firstly that
the character has found a clue, this is told through his facial expression specifically his
eyebrows; they indicate to the audience that he has found something and is confused about
it. Secondly his right arm moves lower indicating he is going to touch/get something, this is
carried over to the second shot which shows him touching an item; this is match on action.
