2. Shot Reverse Shot
This is the first shot that
displays the second
character’s expression.
This is the second shot that
displays the first character’s
expression.
The first shot shows the expression of the
second character from over the shoulder of the
first character. The second shot does the
opposite. This technique is incredibly common
and used in the majority of films.
3. Match on action
The first shot shows the
character with the object.
In this instance the object
is the book. It displays her
opening the book.
The second shot is a
close up of the book.
This infers the character
is reading the book.
The final shot is a mid
shot of her reading the
book.
From these three shots we can tell that the character
is getting a book & reading it.
4. 180-Degree rule
The 180-Degree rule essentially
states that when shooting a film
the camera should stay on the
same side of the line of vision.
