room building, demo old existing on-
site portable buildings, and re-paving
of the area with new asphalt. The
construction of a new gymnasium for
Durfee Elementary is located in El
Monte.
The new development of the McCrea
Ranch Visitor Center was made possible
through grants from the Santa Monica
Conservatory.

new center in 2011 and renovated
the foreman’s house dating back to

construction. New site work included CMU
walls, structural steel, metal decking, stainless
steel wall panels and built-in student desks,
metal roofing and new storefront system.
5. Sometimes, our clients have unique
construction requests. SBS Corporation is
unaccustomed to refusing ANY type of
request and our portfolio is evidence of
that. Throughout the years our team has
overseen the construction of historical,
medical playgrounds, educational, enter-
tainment and sporting facilities. Our team
of construction workers, superintendents
and project managers are experts in
evaluating, executing and delivering the
results that each special project requires.
Every project has its own set of challenges and complexities, but sports
stadiums, Gyms and Club facilities are a whole new ball game. There
are several special circumstances that require a bit of extra attention
when it comes to this type of project.
For example, sports stadi-
ums can be massive—the
stadium needs to hold thou-
sands of fans, plus extra fa-
cilities such as locker rooms
and restrooms. The flow of
people, both pedestrian and
vehicular, in and out of the
venue requires its own set of
construction concerns.
Beyond the stadium, there are practice fields. All of this requires a lot of
planning and physical space.
Additionally, entertainment facilities tend to be very specific. From
initial design to digital takeoff to actual construction, each stadium
project will be different from a general contractor’s past work.
Established on June 6, 1866, Santa Barbara’s educational
tradition is one of the oldest in the State of California. Its
traditions are rooted in the 18th century Spanish era.
SBS Corporation has completed major tenant improvements in
the historical construction for Washington Elementary, Santa
Barbara Junior High School, Cold Springs Elementary (Montecito)
and Harding Elementary School.
