The sawtooth wave is a non-sinusoidal waveform that oscillates between negative and positive peaks, resembling the teeth of a saw blade, characterized by a slow rise and steep decay. It consists of harmonically related sine waves and is distinct from triangular waves in terms of symmetry and harmonic content. Sawtooth waves are commonly used in music synthesizers and have applications in generating raster graphics on CRT screens.
