 The SAP logon pad is
available once the SAP
GUI is installed at the
workstation.
 Select the correct
Server
 Double click on

in your User ID and your
Password which is
assigned to you.
 Press Enter or click
 After your first access,
you have to change your
password. Please choose
a Password with 8 digits.
Required is a password
with letters and figures.
 Don‘t forget the new

 1. Possibility:
Click with the right mouse
button on Favourites and
then Insert transaction. For
this way it‘s necessary to
know the transaction code.
 2. Possibility:
Search for the transaction in
the SAP menu. Click with the
right mouse button on it –
then Add to favourites, or
put the transaction per drag
and drop to your Favourites.

 At the moment
you can only see
the description of
the transaction –
not the
transaction code.
 Select Extras and
Settings and click
the checkbox

the transaction code. For
example LS24 for a stock
overview and click and press
enter or click

Favourites

Search for the transaction in
the SAP menu (difficult) and
double click the transaction.
Start a transaction
 Click on this triangle
 Click on this paper
 Choose Transaction
 Now transaction code is
displayed.
Settings – How can I see where I am?
 Sometimes it is
necessary to work
with more than one
SAP window. SAP
offers the possibility
to work in 6
different sessions.
 To open a new
session click
 You can switch to
another opened
session with Alt+Tab
Working with more than one session
 If there is an input field with the
following symbol a value is
requested. The field needs an entry.
 If you don‘t know which input is
requested press F1 or click on this
symbol to get help.
 Don‘t forget to set the cursor into
the field where the help is required.
 A new window will open with
detailed information about this field.
Where can I find help?
 Mandatory fields have
a check mark
 Optional fields are
blank
 Fields with
matchcodes (drop
down icon) allow
searching on the field
for allowed entries

 Set the cursor into
the input field and
press F4 or the pull
down menu
 A new window will
open with a list of
possible values or a
further help

 Click on this symbol to
get the Technical
information of this field.
 The Parameter-ID LGN is
the value for the warehouse
no.
 Go back to the SAP Easy
Access Menue.

value GB4 for GB

saved as a user setting
and always in the field
where a warehouse no. is

 Decimal Notation
 Logon Language − Use this
option if we want to open
SAP in a different language
other than English

 Spool control − This option
will setup the default
printer on which your
documents will be printed
until and unless the
printer is changed at
runtime or
programmatically.
The following screen appears with options to
change the following properties
* You can customize the
following settings based on
your preferences −
 Visual Settings like SAP
Theme, Color, Fonts and
size, etc.
 Interaction Design like
Keyboard settings, Sound
and Control setting, etc.

Perform list layout
 The list could be
performed with
personal settings to
get further
information with
clicking on this
button

 On the left side all columns of the
actual list are displayed
 On the right side is the list which
information could be added to the list
layout
 Click a column content on the right side
and click on this button
 Remove entries the same way. Click an
entry in the list on the left side and
click this button to remove it
from the list.
 Here it is possible to define the Position
in the list
 Click the Copy button to adopt the
settings.

 /N - Stop the transaction and
went back to the SAP Easy Access
 /O - Open a new session
 /NEX - Close all sessions and
logoff from SAP
 /NMMBE - Stop a transaction and
open a new transaction in one
step. For example the MMBE
 /OLS26 - Open a new session
with a specific transaction, for
example LS26

desktop and the Logon
pad will open as shown in
the following screenshot.
Click the ‘New’ button.
 Click on the “Next”
button as shown below.
Adding a New SAP Application Server
 Description − Provide a meaningful
short text for identifying the server.
The server will be available in the
SAP Logon pad with this name.
 Application server − Provide the
IP/Address of the application
server, provided by the basis
administrator.
 System number and System ID −
Give the system number provided
by the basis administrator. It should
be kept as 00, if nothing is
specified.
 SAP router string − Provide the SAP
Router String, if provided by the
basis administrator. Sometimes it
may be left blank.
 Click on: OK -> Finish

SAP GUI and Navigation - Quick Guide

  • 5.  The SAP logon pad is available once the SAP GUI is installed at the workstation.  Select the correct Server  Double click on selected Server SAP logon Pad
  • 6.  The next step is to key in your User ID and your Password which is assigned to you.  Press Enter or click  After your first access, you have to change your password. Please choose a Password with 8 digits. Required is a password with letters and figures.  Don‘t forget the new password!!! SAP logon

  • 11. The User Menu … with all transactions you are allowed to open. The SAP Menu … with all SAP transactions. The SAP menu is reasoned in a logical structure from business point of view. Your personal ‘Favourites’ Move to the ‘SAP Menu’ Move to the ‘User Menu’ User menu vs. SAP menu
  • 12.  1. Possibility: Click with the right mouse button on Favourites and then Insert transaction. For this way it‘s necessary to know the transaction code.  2. Possibility: Search for the transaction in the SAP menu. Click with the right mouse button on it – then Add to favourites, or put the transaction per drag and drop to your Favourites.   • 13.  At the moment you can only see the description of the transaction – not the transaction code.  Select Extras and Settings and click the checkbox Display technical names Settings – Display Transaction codes (Technical Name)
  • 15.  First Possibility: Enter in the command field the transaction code. For example LS24 for a stock overview and click and press enter or click  Second Possibility: Choose an entry in the Favourites  Third Possibility: Search for the transaction in the SAP menu (difficult) and double click the transaction.   • 17.  Sometimes it is necessary to work with more than one SAP window. SAP offers the possibility to work in 6 different sessions.  To open a new session click  You can switch to another opened session with Alt+Tab Working with more than one session
  • 18.  If there is an input field with the following symbol a value is requested. The field needs an entry.  If you don‘t know which input is requested press F1 or click on this symbol to get help.  Don‘t forget to set the cursor into the field where the help is required.  A new window will open with detailed information about this field. Where can I find help?

  • 21.  Press F4 in the appropriate field. In this example the Warehouse Number should be implemented to the Parameters  Click on this symbol to get the Technical information of this field.  The Parameter-ID LGN is the value for the warehouse no.  Go back to the SAP Easy Access Menue. Set parameters
  • 22.  Open Own Data in the User profile Set parameters

  • 24.  Click “System” on the menu bar. Select “User Profile” → “Own Data” Maintain User Profile
  • 25.  Date format  Decimal Notation  Logon Language − Use this option if we want to open SAP in a different language other than English  Time zone  Spool control − This option will setup the default printer on which your documents will be printed until and unless the printer is changed at runtime or programmatically. The following screen appears with options to change the following properties

The server will be available in the SAP Logon pad with this name.  Application server − Provide the IP/Address of the application server, provided by the basis administrator.  System number and System ID − Give the system number provided by the basis administrator. It should be kept as 00, if nothing is specified.  SAP router string − Provide the SAP Router String, if provided by the basis administrator.
