MIT researchers have developed a blind robot called Cheetah 3 that can navigate rough terrain, climb staircases filled with debris, leap over obstacles, and gallop across unpredictable surfaces. The robot provides access to dangerous areas for search and rescue operations. Future work aims to add sight controls and extend the robot's limbs to improve terrain exploration for disaster response and search and rescue applications.
