2. welcome ourVisionSangeet4All brings a brand new music education program to Indian schools that instills
a lifelong foundation and love for Classical Indian music. Sangeet4All is based on the
philosophy that all children are musical and deserve to engage in a fun way with their
cultural heritage. The Sangeet4All music curriculum is designed to best suit the Indian
sensibilities and the realities of Indian classrooms.
“A change is happening all around us. India is rediscovering its culture
to bridge the modern day requirements with its rich heritage. Old
clothes are being tossed out of the cupboard and new designs that have
a link to its past, are being taken in with glee. Classical Indian music
has a significant role to play especially in these changing times and
Sangeet4All gives the children an easy access to it from early childhood
and from the first day a child enters school. Adapt Sangeet4All in your
curriculum and see your child sing, play, learn.”

3. Aboutus
Sangeet4All serves schools and families throughout India by providing music
curriculum grounded in Indian classical music with a global outlook. Sangeet4All is
developed for Nursery upto 5th grade. The day a child starts school, he/she should
experience the joy of music in their lives.
The company was founded by world renowned Indian classical artists Pt. Shubhendra
and Vidushi Saskia Rao. Pt. Shubhendra Rao is one of India’s leading artists today.
He is a disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar from whom he learned in the true Guru Shishya
Parampara. Vidushi Saskia Rao is a Dutch cellist whose schooling started at a
young age with Western classical music and studied Indian classical music with Pt.
Hariprasad Chaurasia. Today she is established as a master of Indian music on the
cello. Their unique combined knowledge in music training and music education is
how Sangeet4All was born, the ideal way to teach the age-old Indian music concepts
through internationally tested music pedagogy to children.
They see an important role for Indian music education in today’s world to bridge
tradition with modern methods. Indian music concepts of rhythm and melody are
among the highest developed music systems in the world and should be shared with
all children and not kept to only a few. Their mission through Sangeet4All (S4A ) is to
promote India’s classical music in a manner that meets the developmental needs of
children and promotes the joy that comes with having music in your life.
and knowledge about their cultural heritage. In Sangeet4All no child is left behind and
all children become creators.
4. WhyS4AIndia’s children belong to one of the richest cultural heritages of the world. Our classical
arts provide a bridge from the past to the present, shows us the best that our culture
has created and provides a strong foundation for identity. Indian music can also boast of
having perhaps the most complex system of rhythm, melody and improvisation available
today.
India’sclassicalartshavebeentransmittedsincetimeimmemorialthroughtheinvaluable
and beautiful tradition of the guru-shishya parampara, a way of learning that is complete
in itself. However, this tradition serves only a small part of India’s society, and focuses on
strict technical, professional training in a manner too mature for young children. It is a
system that cannot be implemented into a classroom scenario, in which we want to serve
all children. With limited access to good music education from their early years, too many
young children today have no connection with their musical heritage. They mostly turn to
popular music that have attractive resources available but can be unsuitable for their age.
We HAVE to make our classical music available to all. If not, the next generation will not
understand their musical heritage. Not because it is not relevant today but because they
would not have had enough encounters with it in their childhood. New educational
systems, teaching methods and resources are required that serve the right of every
child of India to learn about and participate in their own culture and ensure that Indian
music will continue to grow as an art form. When we start in early childhood to teach the
foundation of Indian music, children will either be ready to take on the full, demanding
training required in the classical arts through the guru shishya parampara, choose
another musical style or will have acquired the foundation to enjoy (classical) music the
rest of their lives. We need both Taansens AND Kaansens. And we need all children to love
music. Let’s join hands to make this change!

LearningOutcomesAll too often the learning outcome of a music program is
equated with the number of songs children learn during the
year. Typically, the talented children sing songs at special
functions and this is considered as the measure of success
of music classes. This puts pressure on teachers to ‘keep up
the school’s name’ and is not conductive for the morale in the
classroom. The Sangeet4All curriculum is designed so that
learning happens in holistic way to create a solid all-round
music foundation in a child. For the school it is essential to
measure the learning outcomes of the music program in
a wider context. Music education is a process of discovery
and adventure of the teacher and children together. The
background scores for the songs are attractive for public
performances by the children and the instrumental pieces in
the second half of the year are fun for the performing children
and their audience. Performance by all the children is very
important in the Sangeet4All curriculum to instill confidence
and should be encouraged throughout the year, but should
be conducted in the spirit of sharing and never put undue
pressure on child or teacher.
