 Samskrtam– Samyak krtam –means -Well refined (done).
 Samskrtam - Devabhasha, spoken by seers of ancient India –
expressed their knowledge, wisdom & thoughts.
 One of the classical, oldest and the richest languages.
 Grammar is well structured.
 Majestic, sweet & sublime to hear.
 Increases listening skill & boosts nerves of the brain.

 In the words of Swami Chidbhavananda ji Maharaj,
“ Among the classical languages of the world the one
indigenous and most suited to the Indian genius is
SANSKRIT”
 All the Indian languages have invariably been influenced
and enriched by Sanskrit.
 The second language for all India ought to be Sanskrit,
as it had been for ages.
 The characters in Sanskrit are called “Aksharams”
which mean imperishable.

 If the mother tongue is compared with Shakthi,
Sanskrit may be aptly compared to Siva.
 The advantage of taking to Sanskrit as second
language is that this language is quite in tune
with the Indian spoken languages.
 Sanskrit takes us to the invaluable ancient
treasure.
 A brilliant renascent India, vibrant with wisdom,
is possible only through reviving Sanskrit.

involvement where the person not only earn
livelihood but also contributes back to the

MANUSCRIPTOLOGIST
 Manuscriptologist - there are lot of demand and
urgent need for people to do manuscript editing of
old Sanskrit manuscripts spread in various scripts such
as Nandinagari, Sharada, Tigalari, Grantha, etc.
 Manuscriptology - requires Sanskrit M.A. (or
equivalent) and Diploma in Manuscriptology
Institutes: All major Sanskrit universities-There are
over 5 million manuscripts (each manuscript is a small
bundle with 10–25 leaves) unopened. Even to
categorize them and properly catalog them is a big
contribution.

MANUSCRIPTOLOGY
Sanskrit Linguist
 Indian language computing requires a lot of people. This requires a
good understanding of Sanskrit Vyakarana (Lingusitics) as most of the
Indian languages have grammar rules that are similar to Sanskrit.
Sanskrit is a super-set and other Indians language grammar rules are
sub-sets. Many research positions in many institutes are there.
 Linguistics - requires Sanskrit M.A. (or higher) in Vyakarana and
further studies in linguistics.
 Institutes: JNU, RSVP-Thirupathi, IIT-Mumbai, Uni. of Hyderabad,
IIT-Kanpur, KSU, etc. 12
SANSKRIT LINGUIST
Damaru (signifying Maaheshvara sutra - the basis for
“Ashtadhyayi sutrapaaTha”) from which the linguistic
journey started and progressed towards Structured
linguistics and then evolved into BNF (Backus-Naur Form)
notation and eventually towards a computer programming
language ALGOL - Algorithmic Language.

Traditional Yogacharya
Yoga today is being used just as an exercise regimen where 95% are focusing on
“Asana” and about 5% are into “Pranayama” and /or therapeutic Yoga, etc.
There are handful of people who actually study the Yoga texts - (there are many,
and about 20 popular ones can be taken up for study) - people don’t even study
“Paatanjala Yogasutram” with Vyasa Bhashyam - and hardly anyone teaches !.
Texts like “Yoga Yajnavalkya” are both “Daarshanika” and “Prayogika” - such texts
are not studied nowadays.
There are many career options
Yoga - requires Sanskrit M.A -or any discipline and further studies in Yoga shastra

Vaastu Architect
 Vaastu is about creating a living space to live in harmony
with the nature, seasons and surroundings. Very specifically
this is about protecting health - both physical and mental
health through ideal way ‘Way of living’ which is easy, cost
effective and using locally available construction material.
 There are hardly anyone practicing AEC (Architecture
/Engineering / Construction) as per the science of Vaastu.
There are serious scientific principles and ideas discussed in
many Vaastu texts such as “Manushyaalaya chandrika”.

Vaastu Architect
 The Government College of Architecture and Sculpture was
established in Mamallapuram in 1957. Four-Year Degree Courses
are offered in this College from 2000-2001. B.Tech in Traditional
Architecture, B.F.A in Traditional Sculpture and B.F.A in
Traditional Drawing and Painting are offered. The man behind
designing the courses is none other than, the famous Sthapathy
Padmabhushan Ganapathy Sthapati. He was the one who built -
Thiruvalluvar statue in Kanyakumari, Buddha statue at
Boddhagaya and Valluvar Kottam in Chennai and 70 other
projects.

Vaasthu Architect
 The Vasthu Vidya Gurukulam (VVG) at Aranmula, a Kerala State-run
institution for promotion of traditional architecture and mural
painting attached to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs offers 1 year
diploma course.
 There are over 100 churches, 3–4 mosques, and countless buildings
built using Vaastu principles in Kerala. Vastu would be a boon for
creating low cost, eco-friendly and also harmonious housing units in
the 100 smart city project of GoI.

Ayurveda - Pharmacologist
 There are many areas in Ayurveda needing doctors and researchers.
Particularly the Dravya Guna shastra (Pharmacology) requires a lot of
dedicated researchers
 Ayurveda pharmacology - requires Sanskrit degree and B.A.M.S -
further studies (M.D -Ayu is on Dravya Guna shastra)
 [Currently there are over 6000 peer reviewed Ayurveda research
articles published in NCBI /Pubmed (US Govt. site)]

Ganita /Mathematician
 There are many traditional math treatises,
requiring researchers.
 Ganita - requires Masters degree in any discipline
of Mathematics and Sanskrit degree - further
studies and research can be done at IIT - Mumbai
etc.
 IITs and IISc collectively have uploaded many
educational videos in NPTEL Website with details on
many traditional mathematics of India.

SAMSKRTAM  Samskrtam– Samyak krtam –means -Well refined (done).  Samskrtam - Devabhasha, spoken by seers of ancient India – expressed their knowledge, wisdom & thoughts.  One of the classical, oldest and the richest languages.  Grammar is well structured.  Majestic, sweet & sublime to hear.  Increases listening skill & boosts nerves of the brain. 4

SAMSKRTAM  In the words of Swami Chidbhavananda ji Maharaj, “ Among the classical languages of the world the one indigenous and most suited to the Indian genius is SANSKRIT”  All the Indian languages have invariably been influenced and enriched by Sanskrit.  The second language for all India ought to be Sanskrit, as it had been for ages.  The characters in Sanskrit are called “Aksharams” which mean imperishable. 5

SAMSKRTAM  If the mother tongue is compared with Shakthi, Sanskrit may be aptly compared to Siva.  The advantage of taking to Sanskrit as second language is that this language is quite in tune with the Indian spoken languages.  Sanskrit takes us to the invaluable ancient treasure.  A brilliant renascent India, vibrant with wisdom, is possible only through reviving Sanskrit. 6

  • 8. GENERAL CAREER OPTIONS The word career means a long term involvement where the person not only earn livelihood but also contributes back to the society through the career. The following give a gist of Sanskrit careers, apart from 1000s of Teaching positions in schools, colleges and universities. 8

MANUSCRIPTOLOGIST  Manuscriptologist - there are lot of demand and urgent need for people to do manuscript editing of old Sanskrit manuscripts spread in various scripts such as Nandinagari, Sharada, Tigalari, Grantha, etc.  Manuscriptology - requires Sanskrit M.A. (or equivalent) and Diploma in Manuscriptology Institutes: All major Sanskrit universities-There are over 5 million manuscripts (each manuscript is a small bundle with 10–25 leaves) unopened. Even to categorize them and properly catalog them is a big contribution. 9

  • 12. Sanskrit Linguist  Indian language computing requires a lot of people. This requires a good understanding of Sanskrit Vyakarana (Lingusitics) as most of the Indian languages have grammar rules that are similar to Sanskrit. Sanskrit is a super-set and other Indians language grammar rules are sub-sets. Many research positions in many institutes are there.  Linguistics - requires Sanskrit M.A. (or higher) in Vyakarana and further studies in linguistics.  Institutes: JNU, RSVP-Thirupathi, IIT-Mumbai, Uni. of Hyderabad, IIT-Kanpur, KSU, etc. 12

SANSKRIT LINGUIST Damaru (signifying Maaheshvara sutra - the basis for “Ashtadhyayi sutrapaaTha”) from which the linguistic journey started and progressed towards Structured linguistics and then evolved into BNF (Backus-Naur Form) notation and eventually towards a computer programming language ALGOL - Algorithmic Language. 13

Traditional Yogacharya Yoga today is being used just as an exercise regimen where 95% are focusing on “Asana” and about 5% are into “Pranayama” and /or therapeutic Yoga, etc. There are handful of people who actually study the Yoga texts - (there are many, and about 20 popular ones can be taken up for study) - people don’t even study “Paatanjala Yogasutram” with Vyasa Bhashyam - and hardly anyone teaches !. Texts like “Yoga Yajnavalkya” are both “Daarshanika” and “Prayogika” - such texts are not studied nowadays. There are many career options Yoga - requires Sanskrit M.A -or any discipline and further studies in Yoga shastra Institutes: S-Vyasa, Bihar school of Yoga, RSVP -Thirupathy 16

  • 19. Vaastu Architect  Vaastu is about creating a living space to live in harmony with the nature, seasons and surroundings. Very specifically this is about protecting health - both physical and mental health through ideal way ‘Way of living’ which is easy, cost effective and using locally available construction material.  There are hardly anyone practicing AEC (Architecture /Engineering / Construction) as per the science of Vaastu. There are serious scientific principles and ideas discussed in many Vaastu texts such as “Manushyaalaya chandrika”. 19
  • 20. Vaastu Architect  The Government College of Architecture and Sculpture was established in Mamallapuram in 1957. Four-Year Degree Courses are offered in this College from 2000-2001. B.Tech in Traditional Architecture, B.F.A in Traditional Sculpture and B.F.A in Traditional Drawing and Painting are offered. The man behind designing the courses is none other than, the famous Sthapathy Padmabhushan Ganapathy Sthapati. He was the one who built - Thiruvalluvar statue in Kanyakumari, Buddha statue at Boddhagaya and Valluvar Kottam in Chennai and 70 other projects. 20

The Vaastu based Sundial - Yantra Mantra, Jaipur (यन्त्र-मन्त्र -कालनिर्णयस्थािम् - जयपुरम्) 21  The Jantar Mantar is a collection of 19 astronomical instruments built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, Rajasthan. The monument was completed in 1734.[1][2] It features the world's largest stone sundial, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Vaasthu Architect  The Vasthu Vidya Gurukulam (VVG) at Aranmula, a Kerala State-run institution for promotion of traditional architecture and mural painting attached to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs offers 1 year diploma course.  There are over 100 churches, 3–4 mosques, and countless buildings built using Vaastu principles in Kerala. Vastu would be a boon for creating low cost, eco-friendly and also harmonious housing units in the 100 smart city project of GoI. 25

  • 27. Ayurveda - Pharmacologist  There are many areas in Ayurveda needing doctors and researchers. Particularly the Dravya Guna shastra (Pharmacology) requires a lot of dedicated researchers  Ayurveda pharmacology - requires Sanskrit degree and B.A.M.S - further studies (M.D -Ayu is on Dravya Guna shastra)  [Currently there are over 6000 peer reviewed Ayurveda research articles published in NCBI /Pubmed (US Govt. site)] 27

Ganita /Mathematician  There are many traditional math treatises, requiring researchers.  Ganita - requires Masters degree in any discipline of Mathematics and Sanskrit degree - further studies and research can be done at IIT - Mumbai etc.  IITs and IISc collectively have uploaded many educational videos in NPTEL Website with details on many traditional mathematics of India.  Indian traditional Mathematics courses in NPTEL 29

  • 31. FURTHER AVENUES  The advantage of taking to Sanskrit as second language and further M.A in Sanskrit is that this language will enable you to get jobs in Schools , Colleges and Govt.
