#storytelling #learningisfun The Happy Prince | Oscar Wilde Part 1Prajnaparamita Bhowmik
The document describes a statue of the Happy Prince that wears a golden tunic with a ruby in its sword hilt and sapphires for eyes. A swallow rests near the statue and the Prince notices the swallow and the poor people in the town, asking the swallow to remove the ruby and one sapphire to give to those in need. The trailer for Snow White uses editing techniques like fades and cuts to build drama and tension. Graphics provide relevant information in a fairytale font on a dark background to make the magic seem evil. Single dramatic words highlight the action and increase suspense between shots. Camera shots provide important symbolic images and establish the time period. Costumes also help show the difference in status between characters like the wealthy Queen and lower-class Huntsman.
The narrator describes how he and another man were identical twins, sharing the exact same physical characteristics from eye color to hair texture to the speed of their blood flow. However, despite their extreme similarity, they have had very different destinies: the twin is now the wealthy and powerful President who rules the nation, while the narrator is a poor beggar screaming on the streets for money. Their lives diverged drastically despite starting out essentially the same, demonstrating how small differences can lead to vastly different outcomes.

The statue of the Happy Prince stood overlooking the city. One night, a little swallow decided to rest at the foot of the statue. The Happy Prince, who could now see all the suffering in the city, asked the swallow to help the poor by taking the jewels from his statue. The swallow agreed and helped many people by taking the jewels. Though it grew cold, the swallow stayed loyal to the Prince until there were no more jewels left. The swallow then died at the Prince's feet. When the statue was melted down, only the Prince's lead heart remained. God took the heart and swallow's body to his garden as the two nicest things on Earth.
The story follows a Prince whose statue remains in the town after his death. A swallow rests on the statue and learns that the Prince, though immortalized in gold and jewels, is saddened by the suffering he witnesses in the city. The Prince gives his jewels to the swallow to help the poor, bringing him happiness. When winter comes, the swallow dies at the Prince's feet, breaking his heart. The town leaders destroy the statue but the Prince's broken heart cannot burn and is later found with the dead bird, deemed the most valuable thing in the city.
The Happy Prince statue is covered in gold and precious jewels. He watches over the city from his perch and sees the suffering of its people. A swallow decides to stay with the prince for the winter. The prince has the swallow remove his jewels to help those in need - first a ruby for a sick boy, then one of his sapphire eyes for a poor seamstress. In the end, the prince is blind but content knowing his jewels helped others in need.
The document summarizes the results of a survey of 23 school pupils about their internet use. It finds that the most common online activities are games, social networks, and finding information. The majority of children spend 1-3 hours per day online and use sites like Odnoklassniki, Mail.ru, and game websites. The conclusion warns that excessive unsupervised internet use can lead to video game addiction, wasting of time instead of pursuing goals, and exposure to unhealthy influences.
The document discusses planetary atmospheres and their evolution. It aims to understand the origin and evolution of Earth's atmosphere by studying other atmospheres in the solar system. These atmospheres can be in different evolutionary stages or on objects of different sizes and distances from the sun. The document provides overviews of the basic properties and composition of different planetary atmospheres. It discusses concepts like scale height, adiabatic lapse rate, and potential temperature which are important for understanding the structure and dynamics of atmospheres. The goal is to interpret data from spacecraft and telescopes on other atmospheres to learn about how Earth's atmosphere has changed over time.
This document warns of the end of civilization due to mankind's mistakes and evil, referencing a past advanced civilization that perished for similar reasons and left mysteries behind. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
