WHY have Sales Strategies?
The number one problem in small business is
Sales.
When you get sales in the front door, it takes care
of everything else.
If you don't get sales, then trouble comes in.
As a result of dealing with small businesses for
years, I’ve learnt there are only 4 Sales Strategies
that will ensure growth in your small business.
1. Basket Size
Increase your basket size by getting customers
to put multiple products in the shopping
basket. McDonald’s used to do this
exceptionally well, ie. when you buy a burger,
they would offer you a side of fries and a drink.
The more products/services put in the basket,
the more sales you receive.
Offer them variety of options or additional
products/services that they could add to their
basket.
2. Price
You should have a variety of products at
different prices (ie. Good, Better, Best).
The goal is to up-trade your customers, from
Good to Better, or Better to Best.
This is achieved by conveying the value
associated with the best/better product or
service. Promote the features and benefits.
3. Frequency
Encourage your customers to increase the
number of times they buy, by coming back
to you more often.
In order to do this, you need to give the
customers a reason to come back, i.e.
satisfying them with your goods and/or
services, creating events and promotions.
4. New Customers
Find new customers to buy your goods and
services is a great way to grow sales, but it’s
also the most expensive strategy.
Create awareness and attention about you
and/or your small business.
Do an exceptional job with your existing
customers so they recommend your
business to others.

plenty of other activities that you can
implement in your small business to
grow sales.
