This document summarizes a research article that examines the effect of competitive strategies on firm performance in the pharmaceutical industry. The researchers analyzed data from 200 CEOs in the German pharmaceutical industry using statistical techniques. Their key finding was that while differentiation strategy was significantly related to higher firm performance, cost leadership strategy was not related to performance. The researchers argue this contingency on firm entry timing provides implications for aligning competitive strategy with when a firm enters an industry.
1. The study investigates whether a differentiation strategy or a cost leadership strategy leads to more sustainable financial performance.
2. Prior research has found both strategies can improve contemporaneous performance, but a differentiation strategy may provide advantages that are harder for competitors to imitate, leading to sustained performance over time.
3. The authors use factor analysis and regression on archival data of over 12,000 firm-years to examine the relationship between strategic positioning and multiple dimensions of sustainable performance, including earnings, cash flows, and risk.
Product diversification and performance of manufacturing firms in nigeriaAlexander Decker
This document examines the effect of product diversification strategy on the performance of manufacturing firms in Nigeria. It analyzes data from listed manufacturing firms from 2006-2010 using panel regression to relate measures of firm performance like return on assets to diversification strategies. The results indicate that larger firm size causes firms to diversify products and diversifying firms have higher returns on assets. However, the relationship between diversification and performance is complex and contingent on factors like industry structure. While diversification may create synergies, it can also increase coordination costs. The implications are that shareholder number influences diversification decisions and debt levels may impact diversification and performance.
This document summarizes a research paper that explores the relationship between human resource management (HRM) practices and innovation in knowledge-intensive firms (KIFs). It presents case studies of 4 innovative companies, 2 manufacturers and 2 KIFs, from Denmark and Australia. The summary finds that while HRM practices differ between traditional manufacturers and KIFs, the case companies all emphasized the importance of knowledge retention and used similar practices like selective hiring, training, performance management, and pay tied to performance to support innovation. More research is still needed on how HRM can best facilitate different types of innovation and on how country-specific factors may influence HRM strategy.

Competitive Pattern-Based Strategies under Complexity: The Case of Turkish Ma...ertekg
Download Link > https://ertekprojects.com/gurdal-ertek-publications/blog/competitive-pattern-based-strategies-under-complexity-the-case-of-turkish-managers/
This paper aims to augment current Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks to become pattern-based. The main motivation behind pattern-based EA is the support for strategic decisions based on the patterns prioritized in a country or industry. Thus, to validate the need for pattern-based EA, it is essential to show how different patterns gain priority under different contexts, such as industries. To this end, this chapter also reveals the value of alternative managerial strategies across different industries and business functions in a specific market, namely Turkey. Value perceptions for alternative managerial strategies were collected via survey, and the values for strategies were analyzed through the rigorous application of statistical techniques. Then, evidence was searched and obtained from business literature that support or refute the statistically-supported hypothesis. The results obtained through statistical analysis are typically confirmed with reports of real world cases in the business literature. Results suggest that Turkish firms differ significantly in the way they value different managerial strategies. There also exist differences based on industries and business functions. Our study provides guidelines to managers in Turkey, an emerging country, on which strategies are valued most in their industries. This way, managers can have a better understanding of their competitors and business environment, and can develop the appropriate pattern-based EA to cope with complexity and succeed in the market.

This document discusses a study examining the relationship between capital structure and value-based performance assessment variables in 219 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange from 2007 to 2011. The study found a negative and statistically significant relationship between capital structure and value-based performance variables including economic value added, market value added, and cash value added. The document provides background on capital structure decision making and reviews several previous related studies that also found negative relationships between capital structure metrics like leverage and performance indicators like return on assets and profitability.
This document discusses research on strategic cost management. It defines strategic cost management as decision-making aimed at aligning a company's cost structure with its strategy and optimizing strategy performance. There are two forms: structural cost management uses tools like organizational design to build a cost structure coherent with strategy, while executional cost management uses measurement tools to evaluate cost performance. While management accounting research focuses on executional cost management, other fields provide more insight into structural cost management. The document argues management accounting researchers should create a unified body of knowledge on strategic cost management.

This chapter reviews literature on realizing improvement activities through different approaches to strategy making and cascading. It explores five topics: operations strategy basics, company context, strategy cascading quality, improvement performance, and leadership style. For operations strategy, it discusses content like cost, quality and technology strategies, as well as the strategy process. It finds that operations strategy should be integrated with business strategy but is often a "missing link". The literature shows a need for more empirical research on the operations strategy process and how to align operations and business strategies for effective implementation.

An appraisal on small firms corporate cultureprjpublications
This document discusses the relationship between corporate culture, innovation, and reward systems in small firms. It argues that developing a corporate culture that supports innovation must be accompanied by an appropriate reward system. A study of small firms in Chennai found a statistically significant relationship between corporate cultures that support innovation and reward system features. Most innovative companies have reward systems that encourage and reinforce innovative behaviors that are part of the corporate culture. Statistically significant relationships were also found among innovation rewards, corporate culture, and different features of variable pay systems.
Analysing the link between CEO remuneration and performanceAhmed Mir
This study analyzes the relationship between cost efficiency and CEO salary in the UK building society sector from 1998 to 2011 using stochastic frontier analysis. The analysis finds that building societies in the sample on average operate with 18% cost inefficiency. A regression then estimates the correlation between cost efficiency and CEO salary for a smaller sample of building societies. The results show that efficiency does not have a statistically significant impact on CEO remuneration, but firm size substantially influences executive pay levels.

Mergers & acquisition and firm performance evidence from the ghana stock exc...Alexander Decker
This research study examined the impact of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) on firm performance in Ghana from 1999-2010. The univariate analysis showed declining profitability after mergers for all firms, with significant differences in pre-and post-merger profitability. The panel data methodology also indicated M&As had a significant negative effect on firm profitability. Additionally, the results showed that risk and firm size had significantly negative relationships with profitability, while debt capital and firm growth enhanced profitability. Prior literature on the impact of M&As on performance has shown inconsistent results, with some studies finding improved performance and others finding losses or mixed/insignificant effects.

Abstract
Purpose – This paper aims to investigate the link between a sustainable supply chain and companies’ financial performance (FP) and provide
empirical evidence about the relationship between these two constructs. This link is an important, but still unclear, subject.
Design/methodology/approach – Multivariate measures of sustainable supply chain performance and companies’ FP are used for Granger
causality tests on a large, diverse sample of 3,900 companies in a time frame of eight years (2004-2011).
Findings – Results indicate general bidirectional causality between sustainable supply chain performance and companies’ margins and revenue.
However, the link between firms’ profitability and sustainable supply chain performance is unidirectional. In addition, the recent financial crisis
altered this link between the studied constructs. Finally, a wide diversity in relationship patterns between sustainable supply chain performance and
companies’ FP emerges when the full sample is divided into different geographical regions and economic sectors as specified by the Global Industry
Classification Standard system.
Practical implications – This research makes recommendations for improving several processes, such as stakeholder evaluation of the sustainable
supply chain performance of companies worldwide and manager testing of environmental policy outcomes.
Originality/value – Building on the mostly qualitative literature on sustainable supply chain performance and companies’ FP, this research provides
quantitative evidence of the gaps between these constructs. This research contributes to the discussions of supply chain management, environmental
practices and the drivers of companies’ environmental and financial success.

1. Introduction
Supply chain management (SCM) is an important
environmental and social subject relating to corporate
sustainability (Ashby et al., 2012). Companies’ interest in
SCM has increased in recent decades because of growing
global competition, outsourcing of companies’ non-core
activities and the shortening of product life cycles
(Skjøtt-Larsen et al., 2007). More importantly, companies’
close, long-term relationships with suppliers and other
strategic partners have become a key factor in competitiveness
(Christopher, 2005; Andersen and SkjOEtt-Larsen, 2009). At
the same time, companies have become more deeply
committed.

An Empirical Review On Supply Chain IntegrationStephen Faucher
This document summarizes an empirical review of 152 articles on supply chain integration published between 2000 and 2012. It categorizes the articles into three perspectives: vertical integration between organizations in the supply chain, functional integration across departments within organizations, and integration models. The review finds literature on topics like the relationship between lean production and information/physical flow integration, frameworks for measuring supply chain performance, and how supplier integration practices can impact organizational performance. It aims to identify gaps in the current research and provide directions for future studies on supply chain integration.

At
the same time, companies have become more deeply
committed.
This document introduces the THRIVE framework and Sustainability Performance Scorecard tool to help businesses transition towards sustainability. The framework provides a standardized platform and scorecard to publicly rank companies' sustainability performance based on their business models and strategies. It is intended to move companies from simply disclosing sustainability information to being more transparently exposed, and help business leaders compete to improve sustainability. The tools are designed using a systems thinking approach and draw on case studies and data sources to evaluate performance against science-based sustainability targets in a context-based way.
A STUDY ON SC PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY THROUGH BALAN...Sabrina Baloi
This document provides a literature review on using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) to measure supply chain performance in manufacturing industries. It discusses the origins and components of the BSC model. While the BSC was widely adopted, the literature review finds several limitations, such as failing to consider factors like leadership, sustainability, and key stakeholders. The review also examines strengths of the BSC but notes it provides little guidance on identifying appropriate performance measures. It concludes the BSC is limited in addressing modern issues and constraints, and a new comprehensive model is needed to better measure supply chain performance.
Antecedents to effective sales and operations planning. swaim, maloni, bow...Patrick Bower
This document discusses antecedents to effective sales and operations planning (S&OP). It develops and tests a conceptual model of the relationships between organizational integration, a standardized S&OP process, S&OP priority, organizational engagement, and effective S&OP. The model is tested using survey data from S&OP practitioners. The results validate that organizational integration positively influences a standardized S&OP process. Both the S&OP process and prioritization lead to stronger organizational engagement in S&OP. Ultimately, organizational engagement in S&OP is positively linked to enhanced operational, market, and profitability outcomes. The findings provide guidance on how to implement and benefit from an effective S&OP process.
Implementation of a decision support process for evaluating the correlation ...IJECEIAES
The main objective of this paper is to study the correlation between investment in information technologies and especially information systems and information system success based on data collection and a multi-criteria decision-making approach using technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and analytical hierarchy process (AHP) methods. The criteria of the hierarchical model for evaluating the information system success are chosen from Delone and McLean information systems (IS) success model. The proposed approach has been implemented in 3 sectors recognized by their variation in the use of information systems: the financial sector, the service companies sector, and the construction industry sector. Therefore, the results of this implementation show that massive investment in information systems does not always guarantee good information system success, and information system success is not always the result of massive investment in the information system.
This document proposes a subjective model with nine determinants to comprehensively measure firm performance: 1) profitability performance, 2) growth performance, 3) market value performance, 4) customer satisfaction, 5) employee satisfaction, 6) environmental audit performance, 7) corporate governance performance, and 8) social performance. The model was developed by reviewing previous research studies to minimize gaps between academic and practitioner assessments of firm performance. Researchers and practitioners can use this multidimensional subjective model to more accurately evaluate firm performance.
A roadmap for a leanness company to emerge as a true lean organizationLeandro Silvério
The problem this work aims to solve is the improvement of the leanness level of a company jeopardized by the lack of lean engagement. The objectives of the research are to present a method based on a lean self-assessment approach, consisted of a qualitative self-assessment method based on lean elements that drives an index definition associated with a roadmap. The method consists in providing a roadmap for the assessed enterprise composed by the company’s lean index, recommendations and countermeasures deriving from Delphi and Kendall Coefficient of Concordance (W) application among lean experts, leading the assessed enterprise to achieve results in terms of lean engagement, autonomy, and decision support criteria for future resource allocation. The results demonstrated that method can highlight gaps where additional improvements and investments would be necessary in the assessed enterprise. Finally, the work concludes that the lean performance identification associated to a lean roadmap in a company can be a highly effective tool to improve lean adoption in a leanness organization.
The Influence of Supply Chain Integration on the Intrapreneurship in Supply C...IJERA Editor
These days, SMEs pay a lot of attention to concept of Supply Chain Management (SCM) in order to achieve
competitiveness. The logic behind such act is integrating the activities of value creation within any kind of
organizational context. Such integrity would collaborate with managers to accomplish the competitive edge that
they are aiming to achieve. The goal of current research is to identify scopes of a unique construct which is
known as Entrepreneurial Supply Chain Management competency. Therefore, the notions of SCM and
entrepreneurship are being aligned together for evaluating the organizational performance. The outcomes
demonstrate that SCM in fact is a critical issue that can alter the organizational performance, thus, through
consideration of SCM, we should focus on supply chain integration and its impacts on intrapreneurship and
innovation of an organization. In order to be successful in such competitive context, SMEs need to provide
novel competences which are not imitable and to increase their application in supply chain and also to improve
their total performance.

A Framework Of IS Business Alignment Management Practices To Improve The Desi...Michelle Shaw
This document proposes a framework to identify management practices that can improve the process of aligning information systems with business objectives and the design of IT governance architectures. The framework maps management capabilities from the strategic alignment maturity model against structures in the IT governance assessment process model. The mapping was used to classify management practices identified from a case study of a large food and beverage company. The study found that improving coordination of IT investment management and enabling structures that strengthen budgetary controls can positively impact both IS/business alignment and IT governance architecture design at the operational and tactical levels.

Abstract:
Although project management, benefits management, change management, and transformation management are
everyday terms in many organizations, projects still experience high failure rates. Business transformation projects in
particular are prone to fail because they affect multiple enterprise architecture layers, involve many stakeholders, last
several years, and tie up considerable amounts of corporate capital. To handle their complexity, scholars recommend
structuring business transformation projects into portfolios of interdependent, yet smaller and, thus, manageable
projects. So far, little guidance on how to do so exists. To share first-hand experience and stimulate research, we
present and reflect on a project conducted with Infineon Technologies in which we co-developed Infineon’s finance IT
roadmap. The finance IT roadmap served as the foundation for transforming Infineon’s finance IT setup to tackle
future challenges of financial management in the semiconductor industry from an integrated business, process, and IT
perspective.

6 How to Structure Business Transformation Projects: The Case of Infineon’s Finance IT Roadmap
Volume 17 Issue 2 Paper 2
1 Introduction
Business transformation is about fundamental change (Rouse, 2005). Centering around the orchestrated
redesign of an organization’s genetic architecture, business transformation projects involve many
stakeholder groups, affect multiple layers of the enterprise architecture, last several years, and tie up
considerable amounts of corporate capital (Abraham, Aier, & Winter, 2015; Morgan & Page, 2008;
Safrudin, Rosemann, Recker, & Genrich, 2014). Moreover, despite their enormous potential impact on
corporate success, business transformation projects are prone to fail (Dehning, Richardson, & Zmud,
2003; Nelson & Morris, 2014). For instance, The Standish Group (2013) classifies 38 percent of large-
scale projects (i.e., projects with a labor content greater than US$10 million) as failures.
Against this backdrop, researchers have investigated business transformation from different angles for
years. From a descriptive perspective, Safrudin et al. (2014) crafted a typology of business transformat ...
A REVIEW OF LITERATURE IN MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (MCS), BUSINESS STRATEGY,...Christine Maffla
This document reviews 10 articles on the relationship between management control systems (MCS), business strategy, and firm performance. Most articles studied manufacturing industries in Australia and Canada, with managers and top management as the most common key informants. The majority used quantitative methods. Findings showed MCS can support both cost leadership and differentiation strategies, though different MCS may be needed for each. Interactive MCS were found to support differentiation strategies and influence innovation and financial performance. Overall the literature revealed linkages between MCS, strategy, and performance.

Abstract
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to seek to advance business process redesign (BPR) project
research through the generation and testing of a new research model that utilizes formative constructs
to model complex BPR project implementation issues. Instead of looking at management principles,
the paper examines the activities of improving business processes from the project perspective.
Design/methodology/approach – A survey of 145 managers and executives from medium and
large-sized USA and Canadian companies was used to validate the model.
Findings – The model, based on socio-technical theory, includes three implementation components
(change management, process redesign, and information and communication technology
infrastructure improvement), and links the effects of these components to BPR project outcomes.
The empirical findings indicated that all three implementation components had a significant impact
on BPR project success, with change management having the greatest effect. Interestingly, the results
also showed that productivity improvement was no longer the main focus of companies carrying out
BPR projects; instead, improvement in operational and organizational quality was more important.
Research limitations/implications – The main limitation of this study is its generalizability
with respect to company size and organizational culture. The sample in this study was drawn from
medium- and large-sized companies in Canada and the USA, but small-sized organizations were
excluded from this study due to their distinct features (e.g. superior flexibility or ability to reorient
themselves quickly). Also, this study controlled the variable of organizational culture by limiting
respondents to Canada and US companies. It would be very interesting to investigate BPR project
implementations in other countries where the organizational working culture may be different.
Practical implications – Based on the findings of this study, BPR practitioners can refer to the three
BPR project implementation components and then prioritize and sequence the tasks in a BPR project
to achieve their preset BPR goals.
Originality/value – This is the first study which utilizes formative constructs to validate the
important BPR project components.

Balanced scorecard weaknesses, strengths, and its ability as performanceAlexander Decker
The document discusses and compares various performance management systems, focusing on the balanced scorecard (BSC). It summarizes criticisms of traditional accounting systems and discusses how BSC and other systems like TQM, ISO 14001, the performance pyramid, and the EFQM excellence model measure performance. The document concludes that while BSC has received criticisms, it has advantages over other systems in providing a balanced, strategic-linked approach to performance measurement. BSC's ability to incorporate social and environmental issues within a strategic framework suggests it could be useful for further research on sustainability performance measurement.
This document presents a systematic literature review that examines how collaboration can improve sustainability performance in implementing circularity in supply chains. The review analyzed 82 journal articles on supply chain collaboration practices, circular economy implementation strategies, and sustainability outcomes. The main findings are:
1) Sharing information, penalties/incentives, sharing responsibility for product recovery, risk-sharing, and joint product design are prominent external vertical collaboration practices that can support successful circular economy implementation.
2) Internal cross-functional coordination and external collaboration with government agencies are the most emphasized horizontal collaboration practices.
3) The focus of circular supply chains is mainly on improving environmental and economic sustainability rather than social performance.
4) Engaging external partners like governments,

base surface coating has to be done. For giving road a smooth surface with flexibility, Asphalt concrete is used.
Asphalt requires an aggregate sub base material layer, and then a base layer to be put into first place. Asphalt road
construction is formulated to support the heavy traffic load and climatic conditions. It is 100% recyclable and

Applications of artificial Intelligence in Mechanical Engineering.pdfAtif Razi
Historically, mechanical engineering has relied heavily on human expertise and empirical methods to solve complex problems. With the introduction of computer-aided design (CAD) and finite element analysis (FEA), the field took its first steps towards digitization. These tools allowed engineers to simulate and analyze mechanical systems with greater accuracy and efficiency. However, the sheer volume of data generated by modern engineering systems and the increasing complexity of these systems have necessitated more advanced analytical tools, paving the way for AI.
AI offers the capability to process vast amounts of data, identify patterns, and make predictions with a level of speed and accuracy unattainable by traditional methods. This has profound implications for mechanical engineering, enabling more efficient design processes, predictive maintenance strategies, and optimized manufacturing operations. AI-driven tools can learn from historical data, adapt to new information, and continuously improve their performance, making them invaluable in tackling the multifaceted challenges of modern mechanical engineering.

Prediction of Electrical Energy Efficiency Using Information on Consumer's Ac...PriyankaKilaniya
Energy efficiency has been important since the latter part of the last century. The main object of this survey is to determine the energy efficiency knowledge among consumers. Two separate districts in Bangladesh are selected to conduct the survey on households and showrooms about the energy and seller also. The survey uses the data to find some regression equations from which it is easy to predict energy efficiency knowledge. The data is analyzed and calculated based on five important criteria. The initial target was to find some factors that help predict a person's energy efficiency knowledge. From the survey, it is found that the energy efficiency awareness among the people of our country is very low. Relationships between household energy use behaviors are estimated using a unique dataset of about 40 households and 20 showrooms in Bangladesh's Chapainawabganj and Bagerhat districts. Knowledge of energy consumption and energy efficiency technology options is found to be associated with household use of energy conservation practices. Household characteristics also influence household energy use behavior. Younger household cohorts are more likely to adopt energy-efficient technologies and energy conservation practices and place primary importance on energy saving for environmental reasons. Education also influences attitudes toward energy conservation in Bangladesh. Low-education households indicate they primarily save electricity for the environment while high-education households indicate they are motivated by environmental concerns.

I. INTRODUCTION
To successfully face the current competitive environment,
companies need to adjust and detail frequently their
operational plans, and S&OPcan perform coordination of
the supply chain for a competitive performance (Wang,
Hsieh, & Hsu, 2012).
S&OP is a process that integrates tactical plans of different
organizational functions such as sales, marketing, product
development, supplies, manufacturing and the financial plan
(Hulthen et al., 2016; Thomé, Scavarda, Fernandez, &
Scavarda, 2012).S&OP is also defined as the process of
developing “tactical plans that assist management in
strategically directing the business to achieve continuous
competitive advantage” (APICS, 2011)-53).Researchers
suggest that S&OP is a good practice to make decisions that
respond to frequent changes in demand, cost, or other
characteristics of market delivery(Coker &Helo, 2016).
S&OP process does not have a consensus definition among
researchers andpractitioners. However scientific literature
agrees that its main purpose is to align functional plans –
even those part of the supply chain– seeking positive
impacts in the use of resources, operating costs and
response to the market (de Almeida, Marins, Salgado,
Santos, & da Silva, 2015; Hollmann, Scavarda, & Thomé,
2015; Kjellsdotter Ivert& Jonsson, 2010; Kristensen &
Jonsson, 2018; Moon &Allw, 2015; Sombultawee & Boon-
itt, 2018; Steinrücke & Jahr, 2012).
Recent literature considers the vertical and horizontal
alignment of functional plans a key element of S&OP in
different industrial sectors and companies. This is even
extended to the external functions of the supply
chain(Wagner, Ullrich, & Transchel, 2014).
The purpose of this article is to summarize the existing
knowledge in the scientific literature about the relation
between S&OP and alignment of the stakeholder in the
supply chains. This research is a bibliometric study on
selected academic papers. It finds that the S&OP seeks
horizontal and vertical alignment in the supply chain, but it
doesn't describe detailed specifications of the way in which
the alignment takes place, because, despite the wide
literature on S&OP, little has been published on how to
enable functional alignment through S&OP practice.

Literature makes clear that alignment is mandatory and a
quality difficult to achieve in the practice, even if it might
seem simple at first sight (Wagner et al., 2014). A better
understanding of how alignment occurs would allow
managers to react quickly to changes in the competitive
environment.
II. LITERATURE REVIEW
The S&OP is part of the disciplines of operations
planning(Olhager, 2013), and its first references in the
scientific literature date from the end of the last century
(Thomé et al., 2012). The selected literature does not refer
to a single S&OP model, but to its different interpretations
according to the context in which it is applied (Thomé et al.,
2012). The characteristic that is shared between the
different interpretations, is that it produces alignment
among the business stakeholders (Wagner et al., 2014).
2.1- Operations Planning
The focal point in operations planning has evolved from a
basic level to a more complex one; from Shop Floor Control
in the 1960s, to Supply Chain Planning in 2000s, S&OP
practice was the focal point during the 1990s (Figure 2). In
their search for greater competitiveness, organizations have
increasingly incorporated a greater number of criteria to
make the most of their operating resources (Olhager, 2013).

2.2 Sales and Operations Planning
The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals –a
leading professional association for supply chain and
operations–,defines S&OP as a process that "reconciles
conflicted business objectives"(Vitasek, 2013). In the same
way, Tuomikangas and Kaipia (2014) point out that S&OP
is a valuable process for achieving business’ strategic
objectives. The alignment of tactical plans in different
departments of the organization allows establishing a link
between the short-term goals and the strategic objectives of
the company to maximize results(Wagner et al., 2014).
The practice of S&OP has its background during the 1950s
decade, specifically at Holt, Modigliani, Muth and Simon's
work on operations management (Noroozi & Wikner,
2012). S&OP literature started in 1998 (Thomé et al.,
2012)at an upward in from 1998 to 2010 (Figure 3).

2.3 Contextual design
Has been established that S&OP can have different
objectives in different companies; and that the process and
its activities are also changeable, especially when they
respond to the conditions of the industrial sector and the
company's strategy(Thomé et al., 2012). The investigation
of operational planning and S&OP has been carried out on
different industrial sectors (Table 1).

Due to the nature of its context-based design(Kristensen &

various ways through literature (table 2).

2.4 Alignment
Alignment, together with agility and adaptability, allows
organizations to deal favorably with changes in the
competitive environment (Dubey, Altay, Gunasekaran,
Papadopoulos, & Childe, 2017), linking the long-term
strategic goals with the planning of short-term operations
(Danese, Molinaro, & Romano, 2017). Alignment is
favored by management's commitment to establish
incentives (Panahifar, Heavey, Byrne, & Fazlollahtabar,
2015), to provide connectivity to the supply chain and
exchange information (Dubey et al., 2017).
The alignment of organizations occurs at three levels:
strategic, tactical and operational (Sombultawee & Boon-itt,
2018). Top management must establish an adequate
governance structure for executing the customer value
creation strategy, by aligning the stakeholders with the
clients. There is no generalized theory about alignment that
can be applied (Sombultawee & Boon-itt, 2018), it is a non-
unidirectional process, involving work and learning
(Selviaridis, Spring, & Authors, 2018). Alignment is a
complex result, although literature points out that the
alignment between stakeholders is important to improve
business performance, there are other types of alignment
that must be considered (Skipworth, Godsell, Wong,
Saghiri, & Julien, 2015) and on which it is necessary to
deepen the current knowledge.
Collaboration for alignment in practice planning is affected
by different variables (Table 3) on their own reach and
depth(Hollmann et al., 2015; Kristensen & Jonsson, 2018;
Nabil, El Barkany, & El Khalfi, 2018).

III. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The methodology applied is a bibliometric study in 4 steps
(Figure 4).In the first step, 37 documents of ProQuest and
EBSCOhost Research Databases were selected with the
search terms "Sales and Operations Planning"; "Sales
&Operations Planning"; "S&OP” and “Supply Chain
Alignment”. The search was also limited to articles
published from the year 2014 onwards and to journals
ranked inScimago Journal Rank on Q4 or better.
For steps 2 to 3 the text mining system “Enterprise Miner
14.1”Advanced Analytics Software | SAS
https://www.sas.com/)was used processing summary,
author, year of publication, journal, and ranking of the
journal of selected research.
The second step wasText Parsing and Filter, to quantify
selected information about the terms that are contained in
abstracts. The third step was Clustering data, classifying and
establishing relationships between the concepts contained in
the selected documents.
The fourth step was the analysis of the processed
information.

V. DISCUSSION
Through the analysis of text mining, it was not possible to
find a direct relationshipbetween the terms: "alignment" and
“S&OP” (figure 8).“Alignment” appears in clusters analysis
in the relationship with terms: “Strategic”, “Tactic” and
“Collaboration”, which reveals the areas of interest that
academics haverelated with the term alignmentin their
researches.
S&OP forms the cluster most frequently with 'maturity',
'plan' and 'market': 30% (figure 10). Maturity is one of the
factors that affect collaboration (Table 3), so we can suspect
that the research in S&OP has an important orientation to
the maturity of the planning process and its relationship
with the market.
VI. CONCLUSION
This manuscript establishes a broad field of research
because the alignment of the stakeholders is an important
factor for the maintenance and development of
competitiveness. The construction ofa theory about how the
alignment is achieved will allow practitioners to improve
the performance of their businesses. This manuscript also
opens the way to the use of text mining technology in the
field; sparingly used to date. In futures researches, it is
convenient to consider a greater number of articles, to
expand the amount of text considered in each document, not
to limit it to the summaries and to extend the range of years
considered to identify trends with greater clarity; and above
all: to make a deeper use of the text mining tool.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The authors are grateful for the support of the company
