The objective of the SAILOR project is to implement an open, service-oriented, organisational innovation named the SAILOR (Smart lAst mILe cOmmeRce) system. This system enhances the dynamic multiparty interaction between parcel delivery companies and the sending and receiving customers, thereby enabling a more informed and coordinated decision-making in urban last mile logistics.

The objective of SAILOR (Smart lAst mILe
cOmmeRce) system is to develop real-time solutions
to the matching problems of parcel delivery
companies and the final customer, shortening
routing distance as well as increase first-time
deliveries and reverse logistics in the last mile
A prototype of SAILOR will be implemented in four
heterogeneous demonstration cities: Amsterdam
(Netherlands) Borlänge (Sweden), Graz (Austria),
San Sebastian area (Spain).

(i) Increase cost efficiency of the parcel delivery
companies:
• 25 % reduction in cost for last mile deliveries
• time reduction of 5 % in a delivery round trip
• faster access to (un)loading zones and better
management of reverse logistics
(ii) Greater adoption of flexible time and place handovers
of parcels leading to customer satisfaction
(iii) Reductions of CO2 emissions of at least 25 % in
emissions in urban areas
