Safecast developed devices and a mapping system to measure radiation and build a community of citizen scientists. They created an open-source, open hardware Geiger counter kit called bGeigie Nano that can upload data to their site, which has collected over 25 million data points. Safecast aims to share their enthusiasm for citizen science through workshops, presentations, and media to encourage more people to get involved in measuring radiation levels.
