Saber is a graffiti artist from LA who began writing graffiti in his early teens in the late 1980s. Over the years he has pushed the limits of his mediums and craft, creating large intricate pieces that can now be seen in galleries and museums worldwide. His most ambitious piece, completed in 1997, was nearly the size of a football field and took over a year to complete using 97 gallons of paint, showing his extreme dedication to his art form. Though this monumental piece was eventually removed, Saber continues to create murals and other graffiti works around the world, demonstrating how commitment to a craft can help one achieve great heights.

Saber
Saber is a graffiti artist from LA who began writing graffiti in the late 1980s at age 13. Now, his works are displayed in galleries and museums around the world. In 1997, Saber completed the largest graffiti piece ever, which took 97 gallons of paint and 35 nights spread over a year to complete. After 12 years, the massive piece was removed in 2009. Saber continues painting today through murals, collaborations, and other art forms, demonstrating how dedication to a craft can lead to great heights.

- 2. Saber is Graffiti Writer out of LA.He began writing in the late 80’s at the age of 13
- 3. Since his early paintings, Saber strived to push the limits of his work and his mediums to their fullest potential
- 4. Now, after years of dedication to his craft, Saber’s works can be seen in galleries and museums around the world
- 5. His gallery works combine traditional realism with the street style of his graffiti
- 8. In 1997 saber completed the largest and most intricate graffiti piece ever made. It took Saber 97 gallons of paint and 35 nights spread out over a year, exhibiting the most dedication ever given to a single piece
- 9. Upon its completion the piece was clearly viable through satellite imagery and from many places around LAIt was nearly a football field long
- 10. After running for 12 long years Saber’s monumental piece was buffed in September of 2009
- 11. Saber continues to paint to this day working with a number of art collectives and community campaigns around the word
- 12. His ventures include a numerous amount of collaborations and murals as well as more abstract forms of tagging, like his latest sky writings.
- 13. Saber shows that through commitment to a craft and dedication to a dream, you can take yourself to new heights.
- 14. ACTIVITY Let each student come up to the blackboard or dry erase board one at a time and write their names out as large as they can across the board, then have the students erase it. While the students wait, ask them to pick something that they love to do and write a paragraph imagining it to its fullest potential. i.e. if a student loves to cook, have them write about their dream restaurant, ect.
