Trend
The use of non-alcoholic beverages has tremendously increased in the country in the last few decades. This is because the population has shown a lot of concerns about their health. Most of the Americans have turned to be very sensitive to the needs of their health. They are also aware of the dangers of alcohol in the body. The majority of Americans have changed their consumption habits whereby they skip meals, and they only depend on snacks as perfect substitutes. Vigorous campaigns against alcohol have been held across the globe by various organizations, and this has enhanced the production of non-alcoholic beverages due to constant switching demands of the population. The McDonalds drink will, therefore, help the consumers as it is hangover free and the drivers can also drink it and drive. Company Name and its Significance
A company name should be distinctive, extendable, and easy to identify and pronounce, and also provide an idea of the products offered by the company (Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman & Bamford, 2017). The company name which I have chosen is KoolSprings Water Company. The significance of the name KoolSprings Water Company is that it gives an identity of the company and what it will do for business. The company will be focused on providing drinking water to the market and therefore choosing the name KoolSprings Water Company is ideal for the business. The name is also self explanatory of what the company activities are and therefore it is important because customers will be able to easily identify it.
Beverage to be produced
The company will be packaging non-alcoholic beverage which is bottled water for its customers. The product is ideal for the company to produce because it has a ready market as customers buy drinking water each and every time. The key ingredient for the product is simply water. Most people prefer pure bottled drinking water without any added ingredients and this is the main product to be packaged. Also there will be vitamin bottled water where the pure drinking water will be added some flavors to it. The flavors which will be added are lemonade and mixed berries which will include strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Lemonade flavor is one of the most preferred water products during the summer period while mixed berries water is one of the well balanced water flavors which can be produced.
Company’s Mission Statement
A mission statement is a brief statement of why the company exists to do. It will define the values of the company, culture, plan, essential goals and also ethics (Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman & Bamford, 2017). Company’s Target Market
The target market for Fruitfit Company that is located in the city of Samut Prakan, Thailand, consists of both the youths and the aged population. The age bracket of the targeted population is between 24 to 70 years of age. The fruits and vegetable beverages target the age group that is cautious of their health regarding harmful chemicals in soft drinks. The herbs contained in the beverages of Fruitfit Company are also regarded for medicinal purposes. The product of the company does not target any specific demographic groups in terms of education, income, or ethnic group. However, the 24-70 age groups are the primary target of the company since the youths and the adults are the majority of the city while the herbal content of the beverages targets the aged population. As per the age structure of Thailand, the 25-54 age group accounts for 46.32% of the total population of the nation (The World Factbook., n.d). The company is located in the central part of the city, which has an average population of 388,920 individuals. The targeted individuals in the city are people who consider natural products that are free of chemicals. Their taste is in line with the mission of the company, which is aimed at providing the fruit and vegetable beverages that are natural and free of harmful chemicals.
Company’s Market Competition
The marketing strategy that is deployed by Fruitfit Company to obtain the competitive advantage is through differentiation (Sherlekar, Prasad & Victor, 2010). It is achieved through the production of the organic beverage rather than the commercial ones. Considering that stable companies that manufacture non-alcoholic beverages are a vital threat in competing for the market, the organization decided to venture into the manufacture of the fruits and vegetable beverages and integrated with herbs. The approach is appropriate to attain the competitive advantage since there is global awareness regarding harmful chemicals that exist in the commercial drinks. Citizens are moving away from the commercial drinks since their chemical content is posing a harmful risk to their health. The global awareness of such risks has given Fruitfit Company the competitive advantage since people prefer taking their products. In addition, Fruitfit Company has numerous outlets within the city and across the nation that deliver the beverage close to the clients which will ease access by the buyers.
The organization also chose fruits and vegetables as ingredients in its beverage since they are readily available from the farmers and are less expensive. Competition is the major challenge in the non-alcoholic beverage industry, which prompts each company producing such beverages to obtain differentiated approaches to obtain the competitive advantage. Therefore, Fruitfit Company took the approach of producing the or ...

The trends in the non-alcoholic beverage industry
There are some changes that are being experienced in the beverage market. Among the changes is the growth of energy, water, and sports drinks brands. Directing attention to only carbonated drinks is now a thing of the past. Much effort by organizations is directed towards producing and selling healthy beverages (Granato, Branco, Nazzaro, Cruz, & Faria, 2010). The other trend is reworking recipes. Most brands that have been in market for a long time now have to be reformulated. They have to be replaced with revamped version as well as have few calories. Also, there is a shift towards having smaller cans and bottles. Having smaller cans and bottles makes the players in the non-alcoholic be ...

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Sweet Blend Company is a nonalcoholic beverage company that will be located at San Francisco, California. It was first started as a small scale business with the main clients being the local community. The location was chosen due to the vast market potential from the large population, which also reduces the cost of operation incurred in transport and labor outsourcing. The Company aims at creating a significant impact on the market by creating healthier products than the competitors. The healthy products choice is because of the observation that more people are turning to healthy products and doing away with products that are not beneficial to their health.
The nonalcoholic beverage industry has seen an influx of competitors in the recent past with more companies switching towards the production of these products. Giant companies like Cola and Red bull have been diversifying their products to include more health beneficial products which have enabled them to maintain the market niche that they had. However, Sweet Blend will focus on the production of top-notch, quality juice products, which will be a distinguishing factor of our products.
The leading target group for our products has been identified as the working class in the entire population, which falls between the ages of 24 to 54. This choice was mainly facilitated by the fact that this group contains the most significant number among the total population of the county. Apart from providing a substantial amount of consumer market, it is also worth noting that this number contains a high number of the working class in the population, thus influencing their consumer behavior positively.
The main competition in the area will be Red Bull and Monster Energy. Monster Energy, having been established in San Francisco coupled with the low prices for their products, has managed to create high-level customer loyalty which it has been able to maintain through a dynamic online presence thus creating an online community of consumers. Red Bull, on the other hand, has increased its portfolio to include a series of other nonalcoholic drinks that are more favorable to consumers' health, for example, the Red Bull apple drink. However, due to the history of the competitors on the use caffeine and lack of product diversification, the Company will be keen to specialize in the production pure juices with the only necessary additives like preservatives and water. The Company is going to manifest on the reliable name and roots it had from the community where they first started selling to create a strong brand name.
Sweet Blend, as a company formed during the digital error, will be keen to utilize the various social media platforms like Facebook, twitter, and Instagram to promote the product and the C ...

Company Description and SWOT analysis
Virgin Mary Beverage Company is amongst the leading beverages companies found in major cities of the United States which exclusively supply the non-alcoholic drinks to most of the bars and restaurants in Atlanta, GA. The company was thought about in 2008 and came into existence in March 2018 and has grown with headquarters being based out of our home city in Atlanta centering in the downtown warehouse district. Content on sales and growth, the organization plans to expand the warehouse and the managers and workers. Since the company exclusively deals with a non-alcoholic drink named Virgin Mary, it was believed that incorporating the beverage’s name in company’s name would sell the brand well and indeed based on the return; the latter has been actualized. Virgin Mary is a non-alcoholic beverage which for a close to ten years now has been a favorite drink for many people (Hellmich, 2006). Its name affirms its non-alcoholic nature, and I believe together with the ingredients which we use to make it makes it be much loved by many. We will offer three different beverages consisting of Virgin Sprait, Virgin Vanda and Virgin Mary our most popular drink. Components used to make the popular drink includes; tomato juice, lemon juice, hot sauce, horseradish, celery salt, black pepper, and stick celery.
Mission Statement
Virgin Mary Beverage Company’s mission is to increase sales, market share and profit by providing its clients with only high-quality products which its customer’s desires through professional, information-based and quality of service. Our company’s mission of increasing sales is based on the dynamics which are associated with beverage business across the United States. Because of the level of competition associated with this sector of industry, our staff has been trained to always practice the required professional standards in their delivery of services to the company’s clients and to still provide our esteemed customers with the required quality of our products.
Trends in the Industry
Currently, the beverage industry is facing severe directions regarding what the majority of the customers and the business people desire to see and achieve. One trend which has been conspicuous is the dynamic change of consumer preferences. Just like in 2018, bold and exotic flavors, snacking, and health and wellness will still be at the forefront for consumer’s beverage preferences, and it is anticipated that it will be elevated more. Beverage safety and transparency will be the leading trend this year with most of the customers yearning for the protection of and health of what they drink or consume (PLUNKETT, 2018). Because of the increasing uncertainty with the rising brands of beverages, many clients will.

The non-alcoholic beverage company for choice is fresh juice manufacturing firm named Matunda Company. The entity intends to produce and distribute fresh juices made from mango, pineapple, oranges among many other local fruits varieties. The name ‘matunda’ signifies the urge to connect with nature fruitfully. The motive for producing and selling the products is improving the overall health of the population while earning profitability for growth and CSR initiatives.
The revised non-alcoholic company aims at restoring the standards of production of fresh juice using organic farm produce. The mission for Matunda juice manufacturer is to become the leading health-conscious fresh juice distributor in North America providing products at affordable prices while maintaining relations with customers (Abrams, 2003, p. 72). The mission aligns with the aspiration of the masses in the target market of consuming healthy products that help the body combat ailments associated with lack of specific nutritional elements in the body. The company envisages the possibility of carving a niche as leading brand suppliers for health-conscious drinks to consumers.
Matunda plans to operate sustainably by capitalizing on the needs of consumers, then deploying strategies that ensure that the production and distribution prioritizes the well-being of the target population. According to the trends in the market, non-alcoholic beverage firms are targeting health-conscious consumers (Olsen, 2011). However, the ventures provide misleading information concerning the nutritional components of the beverages supplied to consumers. The businesses are instead prioritizing profitability in opting to invest in scientific technologies that integrate preservatives as natural components for consumables. The reporting on the course book about the trends in consumable indicates the surge in interest in the consumption of organic products. Interestingly, the significant majority of products available in the stores in the US is carbonated and has a long shelf life. The consumers use artificial sugars in the production of the components.
Additionally, trends indicate that manufacturers invest massive funds in promoting the products as opposed to concentrating on addressing health concerns related to the consumption of nonalcoholic beverages (Olsen, 2011). In the US, the demand for juices is on the rise with at least each household consuming the products daily. The figures surpass the demands for dairy products. The chances of the demand growth are high due to sensitization by the media. Television channels and magazines highlight the benefits of consuming natural organic food components. Another discussion concerning the use of nonalcoholic beverages revolves around the surge in ge ...
The world visionThe world vision in its mission to providing fo.docxssusera34210
The world vision
The world vision in its mission to providing for the needs of orphaned children and the less fortunate in the world especially the developing countries has been faced by some problems. The sponsorship of some children is sometimes falsified and it is always based on false information that may be provided to the sponsor. This shows that the sponsors are sometimes made to believe that there contribution is being given directly to the children under sponsorship yet the funds are for the whole community. Corruption at local levels is also a problem to the world vision because most of the funds that are supposed to help the poor are diverted and given to those who are able due to corruption hence it seizes to be beneficial to the targeted group. Political conflicts also affect the world vision, the procedures are sometimes not followed and therefore aid is given to some people who can be felt to be of benefit to a particular person or group of persons (Roth, 2015).
These problems are caused by increased poverty especially in developing countries and people work not to benefit the community but to benefit themselves. Greed is another cause to the problem where an individual cannot be contented with what he or she receives from servicing. Lack of knowledge and awareness of community is another reason that makes the organization staff not to fear providing false information because the community members can rarely defend themselves. Mostly the organization staff is the one that causes the problems by exaggerating or falsifying information. In order to solve this problem the world vision should at least ensure that the living condition of the staff providing service to the community is good to avoid temptation of using the fund. The community should also be taught about the organization and its importance to the community. There should be frequent communication between the sponsors and sponsored to ensure that funds are used as expected (Roth, 2015).
The Pepsi Company
The major problem that Pepsi faces is competition from Coca-Cola Company which happens to produce almost the same type of product as Pepsi. The company is also facing a problem I the decli9nng soda consumption. This is due to the health implications that the beverage has more of carbonate which results to obese. The consumers tend to go for the less fat and less or no calorie products and this is the cause to their problem. Competition lessens profit when some consumers prefer the product of the competitor hence it reduces the productivity of the company. Losses are as well realized when consumers prefer other product to the ones produced by the Pepsi company hence the main objective of the company is violated are tends to be void (Louw, 2012)
The competition problem can be solved by the company being innovative and coming up with marketing strategies that is effective to the company. Strategies such as advertising and enhancing supply methods to ensure that produc ...

There exist different types and brands of beverages in Youngsville which are strong in their own way. Different types of people have different tastes of beverages they want which includes, but is not limited to the calorie levels and alcohol percentages whereas others are more sensitive about the side effects which might be caused by these beverages.
The current market situation in Youngsville, North Carolina is very competitive due to the existence of many giant non-alcoholic beverages companies which have colonized an enormous market share posing a threat to startups. These challenges elevate when these famous companies realize that a growing company has started to become a big competitor to them, hence channeling hefty resources to fight back.

Three Mountains Regional Hospital Code of Ethics
Progressive developments in science and technology in the 20th century contributed to advances in healthcare and medicine that have helped many lives. Healthcare professionals are confronted with ethical dilemmas and moral questions as the context in which healthcare is provided keeps on changing. Healthcare specialists are required to be dedicated to excellence within their professional practice of promoting community, organizational, family, and individual health. Healthcare code of ethics provides a platform for shared professional values (Wocial & Tarzian, 2015). It is the responsibility of healthcare specialists to reach the best possible standards of conduct and to encourage these ethical practices to those with whom they work together.

Target Market
Fizzy Bottles sells non-alcoholic carbonated drinks. The market for non-alcoholic beverages is relatively large. Almost all people fit into the targeted market for the products of this business. The following is a detailed description of the characteristics of the target market to which Fizzy Bottles will be selling its products.
Demographic Description
The target consumer of Fizzy Bottles is a male or female between the ages of 16 and 35. The typical person who would purchase these drinks belongs to the middle class and earning between $25,000 and $50,000. The racial/ethnic composition of the target market includes white, black, Hispanic, and Asian consumers. The product targets people with an education range of a high school diploma to a college degree.
Geographical Description
The sale of Fizzy Bottles will initially be limited to the United States. The company will first begin selling within Dallas and its environs. The company will target the Dallas metropolitan area and a100 square mile radius around the city. This being an urban region, it is likely to include the targeted demographics. The intention is to grow the business later to target Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. However, the capacity of the company is still limited. Therefore, in its initial stages, the company will sell its products in the local markets.
Lifestyle
This business targets young and youthful people who are concerned about health and fitness. One of the major concerns with many carbonated drinks is the health aspect. Many carbonated beverages in the market contain some components viewed as unhealthy such as caffeine and too much sugar. Fizzy drinks target young people who care about the elements of the beverages they purchase. Such people tend to consider the nutritional components of the edible products that they buy. The company will make its drinks with healthy ingredients that will be acceptable to this market.
Psychographic
Psychographic segmentation differentiates the target markets based on their shared beliefs, values, behaviors, and personality traits (Goyat, 2011; Larsen, 2010). Fizzy Bottles seeks to capture the psychographic market of people who love trends. The leading age group targeted, is young and fun. People who follow the trends. In this age of social media, as long as trendsetters present Fizzy Bottles as a trendy drink, then the target market will likely want to join the trend. The most used kind of digital advertisements applied by the organization in attracting consumers of Pepsi product includes display advertising. The study also revealed that digital marketing contributes in a large extent on influencing the buying behavior of the customers. The study recommended that; cross-promotion is crucial and can help to extend the personalized, targeted experience that the advertising has already provided. Display adverts should be supported with a structured follow-up such as email and backed up within other channels, not only does this offer consistency to the customer and a nudge down the sales funnel, it can offer retailers with extremely useful insights. If SBC Tanzania Limited already have a control of the Pepsi product data, SBC Tanzania Limited can use this content outside of digital advertising.

The current market situation in Youngsville, North Carolina is very competitive due to the existence of many giant non-alcoholic beverages companies which have colonized an enormous market share posing a threat to startups. SPT 208 Final Project Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
Marketing and advertising are often used interchangeably, yet throughout this course you have learned that marketing is a much larger concept that requires a
strong understanding of consumer behavior, products and services, and often the greater economic environment. Marketing is applicable to every industry and
discipline in one way or another, but within the sport industry we have the chance to see the application of marketing concepts as if under a spotlight due to the
industry’s global reach and importance to society.
Your final project is the creation of an Opportunity and Consumer Analysis. You will select a sport team, individual, facility, or organization as the focus of your
consumer and opportunity analysis. When selecting your area of focus, think about your interests and career aspirations. As you progress through the course,
you will have the opportunity to practice the skills required for this project in several milestone activities. Your final deliverable will include a strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis of your selected focus; a consumer analysis; an analysis of successful marketing and media strategies;
and a brief 1-, 3-, and 5-year plan that allows you to explain your intended use of a proven marketing strategy and various media opportunities. Please note that
your Opportunity and Consumer Analysis will be an eligible artifact to include in your program portfolio, as it will highlight your ability to recognize consumer
characteristics and opportunities for brand improvement.
The project is divided into two milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final
submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Three and Five. The final Opportunity and Consumer Analysis will be submitted in Module Seven.
This assessment addresses the following course outcomes:
• Analyze consumer behaviors for the influence of political, cultural, and social events on consumer motivation at the local, national, or international
levels within the sport industry
• Illustrate the application of key marketing strategies in successful sport-specific marketing campaigns
• Identify proven marketing strategies that can be successfully applied to specific sport marketing scenarios to attract consumers
• Compare media opportunities for successfully communicating and marketing towards specific consumers within the sport industry
Prompt
Develop a comprehensive Opportunity and Consumer Analysis. Select a sport team, individual, facility, or organization and provide a thorough analysis of the
existing marketing strategies and consumers, and determine an opportunity for greater consumer reach. Outline a brief 1-, 3-, and 5-year plan for the marketing

Healthcare professionals are facing challenges as the context in which healthcare is provided keeps on changing.
The Three Mountains Regional Hospital code of ethics will clarify the roles and responsibilities within the healthcare profession. The code of ethics will also guide the healthcare professionals on addressing common ethical questions. With 15,000 admissions annually, the Three Mountains Regional Hospital requires a code of ethics that will guide the healthcare professionals in the hospital in dealing with such a capacity. Healthcare professionals from the hospital will be defined by their purpose but not their job description (Turner & Epstein, 2015). The proposed code of ethics will inform individual decision-making when faced with ethical situations within a given relationship or role at the Three Mountains Regional Hospital.
Ethics are an essential part of healthcare, and they should provide value in practical situations. The proposed code of ethics will provide a structure and shape to the Three Mountains Regional Hospital’s environment and summarize the healthcare organization’s ethical position. The code of ethics will describe the ethical attitude shared by healthcare workers at Three Mountains Regional Hospital, and it will be valuable and influential on the success of the healthcare organization. The mission of the code of ethics is to guide the hospital is leading the way to a healthier community through the provision of quality care.
Code of Ethics
· Uphold the policies of the Three Mountains Regional Hospital (Merry & Walton, 2017).
· Protect the intellectual, physical, and electronic property of the hospital (Hoppe & Lenk, 2016).
· Promote a healthy, secure, and safe working environment (Merry & Walton, 2017).
· Act responsibly and honestly by avoiding perceived or actual conflicts of interest (Merry & Walton, 2017).
· Protect and respect the privacy and confidentiality of all individuals and informat.

Course Requirements and Grading:
Test 1 20%
Midterm exam 25%
Test 3 20%
Final exam 25%
Essay on live musical performance 10%
Essay assignment will consist of attending a live musical performance at the Frost School of Music (or approved off campus performance). At the conclusion of the performance, you will obtain signatures of two or more participants. You will compose an essay that will summarize the performance (ensemble, repertoire, etc.). You will compare and/or contrast the performance with details we have studied in class. The essay should be two to three pages long, computer printed, double spaced, and stapled. It will be due on Thursday, November 19.
Conduct and rules:
Rock and roll is a joyous art form. I intend for the class to be a fun and learning environment. I hope to engage you as adults, not as adolescents. However, inappropriate language or behavior to one another will not be tolerated, and will result in the student facing disciplinary action and potential removal from the class. You are adults. I am not your baby-sitter. If you fail to attend class regularly, you will find it much more difficult to excel in the course. SHOW UP AND PAY ATTENTION! It will make your life easier in the long run. Plagiarism on your essay will not be acceptable, and will result in the loss of 10% of your final grade. Cheating is rampant. While I will make every effort to curb the options students might have to copy one another on tests, I can’t stop it completely. I will have assistance from the Honor Council on test days, and cheating will result in a zero on that test. None of you can afford this. I truly believe that if you will engage the material, come to the lectures, and actively listen to the required listening material, you will not find a need to cheat.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by any of the material, please make an appointment to meet with me during office hours.
Lectures and listening:
Each class will consist of a lecture and a period of listening to music appropriate to that lecture. The music played in class will be made available to you through Blackboard in addition. You will be responsible for the material presented.

Firm?
Focus less on competitive advantage and more on growth
that creates value, by Todd Zenger
f asked to define strategy, most execu-
tives would probably come up with
something like this: Strategy involves
discovering and targeting attractive
markets and then crafting positions that
deliver sustained competitive advan-
tage in them. Companies achieve these
positions by configuring and arranging
resources and activities to provide either
unique value to customers or common
value at a uniquely low cost. This view of strategy as
position remains central in business school curricula
around the globe: Valuable positions, protected from
imitation and appropriation, provide sustained profit
streams.
Unfortunately, investors don't reward senior
managers for simply occupying and defending po-
sitions. Equity markets are full of companies with
powerful positions and sluggish stock prices. The
retail giant Walmart is a case in point. Few people
would dispute that it remains a remarkable firm. Its
early focus on building a regionally dense network
of stores in small towns delivered a strong positional
advantage. Complementary choices regarding ad-
vertising, pricing, and information technology all
continue to support its low-cost and flexibly mer-
chandised stores.
Despite this strong position and a successful stra-
tegic rollout, Walmart's equity price has seen little
growth for most of the past 12 or 13 years. That's be-
cause the ongoing rollout was anticipated long ago,
and investors seek evidence of newly discovered
value—value of compounding magnitude. Merely
sustaining prior financial returns, even if they are
outstanding, does not significantly increase share
price; tomorrow's positive surprises must be worth
more than yesterday's.
Not surprisingly, I consistently advise MBA stu-
dents that if they're confronted with a choice be-
tween leading a poorly run company and leading a
well-run one, they should choose the former. Imag-
ine assuming the reins of GE from Jack Welch in Sep-
tember 2001 with shareholders' having enjoyed a 40-
fold increase in value over the prior two decades. The
expectations baked into the share price of a company
like that are daunting, to say the least.
To make matters worse, attempts to grow often
undermine a company's current market position.
As Michael Porter, the leading proponent of strat-
egy as positioning, has argued, "Efforts to grow blur

uniqueness, create compromises, reduce fit, and
ultimately undermine competitive advantage. In
fact, the growth imperative is hazardous to strategy."
Quite simply, the logic of this perspective not only
provides little guidance about how to sustain value
creation but also discourages growth that might in
einy way move a compeiny away from i.

These feelings aren’t new. They’ve erupted now
and in the past because we don’t like being told how
to behave—and no other group in organizational life,
not even finance, bosses us around as systematically
as HR does. We get defensive when we’re instructed
to change how we interact with people, especially
those who report to us, because that goes right to the
core of who we are. What’s more, HR makes us per-
form tasks we dislike, such as documenting problems
with employees. And it prevents us from doing what
we want, such as hiring someone we “just know” is
a good fit. Its directives affect every person in the
organization, right up to the top, every single day.
The complaints also have a cyclical quality—
they’re driven largely by the business context. Usu-
ally when companies are struggling with labor issues,
HR is seen as a valued leadership partner. When
things are going more smoothly all around, manag-
ers tend to think, “What’s HR doing for us, anyway?”
This doesn’t mean that HR is above reproach.
Quite the contrary: It has plenty of room to improve,
and this is a moment of enormous opportunity. Little
has been done in the past few decades to examine the
value of widely used practices that are central to how
companies operate. By separating the effective from
the worthless, HR leaders can secure huge payoffs for
their organizations. But it’s important to understand
HR’s tumultuous history with business leaders and
the economy before turning our attention to what the
function should be doing now and in the future.
The “Personnel” Pendulum
How top executives feel about HR pretty reliably re-
flects what’s going on in the U.S. economy. When the
economy is down and the labor market is slack, they
see HR as a nuisance. But sentiments change when
labor tightens up and HR practices become essential
to companies’ immediate success.
Think back to the Great Depression. People would
put up with nearly anything to stay employed. Line
managers complained that personnel departments
were getting in the way of better performance, which
they thought could be achieved with the “drive” sys-
tem: threatening workers and sometimes even hit-
ting them if they failed to measure up.
Similarly, business leaders didn’t put a lot of
stock in HR during the 2001 and 2008 recessions, be-
cause employees—keenly aware of how replaceable

Sponsorship selection
Audi’s long association with football, with its focus on
high-profile, global clubs, saw the brand develop from

leading platforms in its own right – the Audi Cup, Audi

properties and its year-round association with the
game, Audi set itself the goal of elevating its successful
sponsorships into full ownership; Audi shifted from a
host or a marque associated with the.

Annotated Bibliography
You second major project for the course will be an annotated bibliography. Instead of writing a
paper, an annotated bibliography requires you to research a particular legal topic or question, of
your choosing, in sports and find academic and law review articles that address that topic. You
will develop a question about a legal topic in sports and find seven law review articles to
summarize. Each article summary should be 300-350 words in length and should both explain
the contents of the article and its relevance to your question or topic. The summaries should be
written in your own words. You are required to select law review articles using LexisNexis. The
format for the annotated bibliography is explained below.
Please put your topic as the title for your paper. Next, each annotation should begin with the
APA citation for the article in bold print (do not include web links), followed by a summary of
the article (300-350 words) explaining how it addresses your question. The complete annotated
bibliography should be double-spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font with one-inch margins. You
will be submitting it through Turnitin via Canvas, do not include your name, course number,
date or UFID on your annotated bibliography (similar to the case briefs). You should start each
annotation on a separate page, and please remember to begin each annotation with the APA
citation for the article as instructed above. This assignment is due on Wednesday, April 22nd.

Speech Environment and Recording Requirements• You must have a.docxsusanschei
Speech Environment and Recording Requirements
• You must have an audience of at least 5 adults 18 years or older for all speeches. The audience must be live and in person, that is, physically present. Virtual attendance is not permitted. Your video recording must show the 5 individuals sitting as ENGAGED audience members. The audience should be visible before, during, and after the speech and you should be facing your audience. The camera should be placed behind your audience.
• You are required to record and post all 3 speeches in order to earn a passing grade in this course.
• The video must be of a high enough quality that the instructor is able to see your full facial expressions and gestures. Your instructor will need to be able to hear your voice very clearly. You risk a failing grade if your instructor is not able to discern facial expressions or subtle changes of vocal intonation on the recording.
• Be sure to record your presentation from head to toe. Your instructor needs to be able to see your posture and other elements.
• Be certain to record your video in landscape (wide), not portrait (tall).
• You may not stop the recording and re-record a section of your speech. What you
submit must be a complete presentation from start to finish with NO EDITING. You could record your speech a few times and then pick the best presentation to send. Just make sure you only submit one copy of your best speech.
• You will upload your speech following the YouTube directions and proper privacy guidelines. Speech capture directions and instructions are in Module 1 of the Blackboard online classroom.
• Be certain to provide a video link to your speech that is available for your instructor and college administrators to view without requiring passwords or special permissions. Submitting a link that does not immediately provide this access results in a failing grade for your speech and could result in a failing grade for the course. You cannot use Google Hangouts or other mediated communication in place of a live audience. Your live audience must be physically present at the location you deliver your speech.
• Any attempt to circumvent live speech audience requirements perceived by your instructor as deceptive, dishonest or otherwise disingenuous results in a zero for your speech with no opportunity to make it up and may result in a failing grade in the course and referral to the appropriate FSCJ administrative official for academic dishonesty.
• The video link (URL) you provide for your speech must remain posted, active and viewable until 14 calendar days following the official scheduled end of the semester, according to the official FSCJ academic calendar. Removing your speech from the URL or link you provide automatically reverts any score you have to a zero and will result in a failing grade for the course.
• Attempts to work around presenting in front of a live audience are considered academic dishonesty.
• Posting your speech on a screen or readin.
Sped4 Interview 2.10.17 Audio.m4aJodee [000008] And we are .docxsusanschei
Sped4 Interview 2.10.17 Audio.m4a
Jodee: [00:00:08] And we are looking at the collaborative process between secondary special ed teachers and transitioning and transition specialists when transitioning students with autism spectrum disorder or other disabilities from secondary to higher. OK so the first question is is describe the condition process as you understand it from the guidelines of the secondary transition plan.
Sped4: [00:00:52] OK. So first thing is a series of assessments that are appropriate for assessing it can include you know obviously interviewing the teacher not not the teacher the student and then sometimes parents are involved in that process. Then there's other batteries of tests. Things like the couter doing AZCIS things other interests inventories and things of that nature to get that. Looking at transcripts students grades grade reports in those things and taking those all that data and that assessment information and looking at that. That's my understanding and interpretation and kind of what I do.
Jodee: [00:01:46] So you know it's the responsibility of the secondary teacher special ed teacher as the case manager to interview the students. And you know one of the big pieces that we look at is the age appropriate goals. You know if you've got a student who is who is autistic academically They're very bright. They can do the work but they have absolutely zero social skills. And they want you maybe studied to be. They want to go into broadcast journalism or something along those lines. So it's like having you determined you know is it like a collaborative effort. You determine and work with the other person you know because sometimes you have to be that person and say yes might not be the best fit for you. How does that kind of playing into things.
Sped4: [00:02:51] I don't know like I don't mind doing that or being the one.
Sped4: [00:02:58] I haven't run into that exact situation but I have other situations where students wanted to go straight to university from high school and just had these visions of grandeur. But their GPA would not allow for that or they had other deficiencies and things of that nature. And so it's just it's sometimes it's like literally printing out the requirement and showing them just saying you know these aren't going to work. It's not a possibility. However it doesn't mean that you can't go on to higher education. And just providing them alternative routes like one if there is enough time if there for example is there a sophomore or a junior. You know we look at like Well is there enough time to get rid of these deficiencies. Can you take some of these courses. Can you do that to get your GPA up to get rid of the deficiencies et cetera. Is that feasible. Is that feasible with money or mom is mom and dad going to pay for that you know. And is there enough time or looking. OK well if that's not an option then community college is not necessarily a bad thing to do it right. When did yo.

Sped Focus Group.m4a
Jodee: [00:00:01] This is a focus group with the secondary special education teachers. So anybody feel free to chime in and we just talked about the secondary transition plan and theoretical principles of Situation and support. So the first question is How does political correctness influence transition process. So think about some of the terminology that's changed. For example we don't refer to kids with cognitive impairment as being mentally retarded. So how does that PC influence the transition process. And anybody can feel free to speak up if they would like.
TS5: [00:00:49] Well I guess I'll start because I'm probably the least politically correct person around. I think you make an example of the fact of you know you know with. What you can and cannot say Well not everybody is up to date on the current lingo and everybody apparently might may be in denial about where their child is at cognitively when using certain terms they may expect more from their or their child than they're actually capable because we're not using terms of people understand or that people use. Obviously I'm not talking about in a hurtful way but you know I mean I have a student now that he's I guess they went out of their way to label him. You know he has a label of autism. But I keep telling these people on my autism is not his problem his cognitive is his problem as long as that IEP keeps talking about autism then that seems to be the direction of where they want to go with the services. And and I keep saying that autism is not the problem. So that's just my 2 cents on.
Jodee: [00:02:12] How has that worked so far just to kind of pair off your response on that TS5 how has it like you're able to see that it's not the Autism that's a problem. How do you stear that to the correct path and have deal with this and what the kid is capable of doing regarding transition.
Sped5: [00:02:34] Well I was fortunate in this area where I think it was an issue of the mom was in denial that it wasn't all the other teachers were like no. This is what this is what he needs. You know because of the IEP I'm trying to get him. You know support all the time and it's just a matter of when they look at the IEP and says why is it that it will be this and this and I'm like I didn't write the IEPP I didn't put down autism. I'll just tell you what I see now what I have and that's what it is. And so it wasn't until at an an IEP meeting that the other teachers who see them every day too are like no this is where he's at. He needs the support he needs this because of x y z. So you know that's just for example.
Jodee: [00:03:25] Okay TS7 I'm going to kind of put you on the spot on for a minute when we talked a couple of days ago about that one student what were some of the things that you might have encountered in working with the parents on regarding transitioning him. And you know just to give a bit with a bit of background history it was a young man diagnosed with.

Research on Social Movements and Political Violence
Donatella della Porta
Published online: 15 July 2008

Abstract Attention to extreme forms of political violence in the social sciences has been
episodic, and studies of different forms of political violence have followed different
approaches, with “breakdown” theories mostly used for the analysis of right-wing radicalism,
social movement theories sometimes adapted to research on left-wing radical groups, and
area study specialists focusing on ethnic and religious forms. Some of the studies on extreme
forms of political violence that have emerged within the social movement tradition have
nevertheless been able to trace processes of conflict escalation through the detailed exam-
ination of historical cases. This article assesses some of the knowledge acquired in previous
research approaching issues of political violence from the social movement perspective, as
well as the challenges coming from new waves of debate on terrorist and counterterrorist
action and discourses. In doing this, the article reviews contributions coming from research
looking at violence as escalation of action repertoires within protest cycles; political
opportunity and the state in escalation processes; resource mobilization and violent
organizations; narratives of violence; and militant constructions of external reality.
Keywords Political violence . Social movements
Attention to extreme forms of political violence in the social sciences has been episodic, with
some peaks in periods of high visibility of terrorist attacks, but little accumulation of results.
There are several reasons for this. First, some of the research has been considered to be more
oriented towards developing antiterrorist policies than to a social science understanding of the
phenomenon. In fact, “many who have written about terrorism have been directly or indirectly
involved in the business of counterterrorism, and their vision has been narrowed and distorted
by the search for effective responses to terrorism…. [S]ocial movement scholars, with very few
exceptions, have said little about terrorism” (Goodwin 2004, p. 259). Second, studies of
different forms of political violence have followed different approaches, with “breakdown”
theories mostly used for the analysis of right-wing radicalism, social movement theories
sometimes adapted to research on left-wing radical groups, and area study specialists focusing
on ethnic and religious forms. Third, and most fundamentally, there has been a tendency to reify

Introduction
There has been growing interest in a range of disciplines
(Ackroyd and Fleetwood 2000; Danermark et al. 2002;
Fleetwood 1999; Fleetwood and Ackroyd 2004), not least
information systems (Dobson 2001; Longshore Smith 2006;
Mingers 2004b; Mutch 2010b; Volkoff et al. 2007; Wynn and
Williams 2012) in ideas derived from the philosophical tradi-
tion of critical realism. Critical realism offers exciting pros-
pects in shifting attention toward the real problems that we
face and their underlying causes, and away from a focus on
data and methods of analysis. As such, it offers a robust
framework for the use of a variety of methods in order to gain
a better understanding of the meaning and significance of
information systems in the contemporary world.
Although the term critical realism has been used in a number
of different traditions, we are primarily concerned with that
developed from the foundational work of Roy Bhaskar in the
philosophy of science, later extended in the social arena by
authors such as Archer and Sayer (Archer et al. 1998; Bhaskar
1978, 1979; Mingers 2004b; Sayer 2000). In this tradition,
the benefits of CR are seen as:
• CR defends a strongly realist ontology that there is an
existing, causally efficacious, world independent of our
knowledge. It defends this against both classical positi-
vism that would reduce the world to that which can be
empirically observed and measured, and the various
forms of constructivism that would reduce the world to
our human knowledge of it. Hence it is realist.
• CR recognizes that our access to this world is in fact
limited and always mediated by our perceptual and theo-
retical lenses. It accepts epistemic relativity (that knowl-
edge is always local and historical), but not judgmental
relativity (that all viewpoints must be equally valid).
Hence it is critical in a Kantian sense.
• CR accepts the existence of different types of objects of
knowledge—physical, social, and conceptual—which
have different ontological and epistemological charac-
teristics. They therefore require a range of different
research methods and methodologies to access them.
Since a particular object of research may well have
different characteristics, it is likely that a mixed-method
research strategy (i.e., a variety of methods in the same
research study) will be necessary and CR supports this.
In this introduction, we will first introduce the basic concepts
of critical realism as a philosophy of science.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Company Description and SWOT Analysis
Company Name and Significance
The name of my Non- alcoholic beverage (NAB) company is
WeFit Diet Drinks. This company deals with the production and
the manufacturing of the non-alcoholic beverages that have zero
calories content. The significance of this beverage is to provide
soft drinks to the people who enjoy the various tastes of
different sodas, but they are no longer willing to indulge in
drinks that have the calories as a measure of ensuring a healthy
lifestyle. This company will provide drinks with different
flavors just like the other sodas. These drinks will aid in
meeting the needs of the people who have decided to adopt
healthy lifestyles such as avoiding the high-calorie content
drinks.
WeFit’s Company Mission Statement
The mission statement of the WeFit Diet Drinks is to
ensure the provision of sophisticated and inviting diet soft
drinks that do not mislay the authenticity of the people health
habits. As a company, we are committed to ensuring that we
meet the various needs of our customers through the provision
of high-quality products, to ensure that they are satisfied and
also provide a high level of professionalism. In addition to this,
4. we are also aiming at making a difference and ensuring the
creation of value as a company.
Trends in the Non-Alcoholic Beverage Industry
One of the trends in the non-alcoholic beverage industry
is that there is a revolution whereby the sugary drinks and
juices sales are likely to slip. This is a result of the increasing
need for the development of new and healthy beverages and
other brands that are much healthier than the prevailing ones. In
the developed countries, many people have become more
sensitive to health issues as a result of the rising rate of
diseases such as obesity that are associated with the poor eating
habits. This happens to be one of the reasons why I chose this
type of the non-alcoholic beverage because I feel that it aids in
the meeting of the needs of the people who have shifted to the
adoption of more healthy habits.
The second reason why I chose this type of non-alcoholic
drink is that it comes in all flavors. Since it acts as a good
source of hydration, it will help in the meeting of the needs of
the people who prefer these flavors instead of having plain
water. This non-alcoholic diet drink has almost similar taste as
the sodas and thus it will help people by meeting their need.
The last reason why I chose this type of the non-alcoholic drink
is that it is cheap and easily portable. This will make it easy for
people to purchase and carry around with them when they are
traveling, when going to school, to work or even for other co-
curricular activities.
WeFit’s Strategic Position
The objective of the WeFit Diet Drinks is to ensure that
it remains the leading diet beverage in the United States. As a
company, we have come up with a strategic position that aims at
ensuring that the soft drinks are made with the high quality and
5. healthy ingredients and also that the drinks are dietician
directed to ensure that they meet the health needs of the people.
The beverages strategic position on the basis of convenience
ensures a close look at the trends in the non-alcoholic
beverages, the company’s target market, and environment of the
product and also the strength of the company. WeFit Diet
Drinks Company target consumers are the people who are
looking forward to taking healthy drinks and have zero calories
content. The market can be said to be strong because the United
States as one of the developing countries has a high number of
people who are obese. It is through the taking of this drink
instead of the sugary beverages that people will be in a position
to manage their weight. Companies such as Coca-Cola and
PepsiCo are the main competitors in the industry. As a
company, we will make use of different fruits to make the
drinks of different flavors instead of the chemicals that are used
by the competitors to ensure that the beverages are calorie free.
Overview of WeFit’s Distribution Channels
The distribution used by the company will be indirect. In
this, we will make use of the intermediaries who are the
wholesalers and the retailers respectively who will then sell the
products to the customers. After the manufacturing of the WeFit
Diet Drinks, the company will distribute them to the
wholesalers who will then sell them to the retailers (Dent,
2011). The retailers are the ones who usually get in touch with
the customers one on one, and they will thus sell to them. The
company will offer refrigerators to all the retailers to ensure
that they can sell cold drinks to the customers during summer.
Risk Analysis of WeFit Company
Three types of risks that the business faces are
compliance, financial and also the competitive risk. For the
compliance risk, the company can mitigate the risk by ensuring
6. that it complies with the necessary laws as well as the
regulations that apply to it. For the financial, the company
should ensure that it manages all the cash that is flowing in and
out of it in an efficient manner to avoid the deficits. Lastly, to
mitigate the competitive risk, the company should come up with
strategies that will enable it to remain relevant in the market
(Sadgrove, 2005).
SWOT Analysis
One of the strengths of the company is that the segment
of the diet drinks in the market is growing and thus the demand
is likely to continue increasing. The strength is that the team
members have great entrepreneurial skills that make them
interact with the consumers effectively and thus gets to know
their needs. One of the weaknesses that the company has is that
the level of competition is very high in the beverages industry.
In addition to this, it will be challenging to produce and
maintain zero calories non-alcoholic beverages. The opportunity
that the company has is that this is a new emerging market as a
result of the change of the people’s lifestyles. Having a high
level of demand than the supply in this market segment is the
another opportunity that the company has. Lastly, one of the
threats that the company has is that the Coca-Cola and PepsiCo
Companies are already established in the market, and it will,
therefore, be hard for it to displace them. In addition to this
having a global perspective for the company, offshoring will
pose a threat to the success of the company.
Marketing Plan and Sales Strategy
WeFit Diet Drink is a business organization that
manufactures and sells non-alcoholic drinks such as diet cola,
juices, and water. Despite the fact that the market is
competitive, the business was established with the intention of
applying aggressive and effective marketing strategies that will
enable it to build its brand in the market. The market is
7. crowded, and this makes it necessary for the business to
consider the application of unique strategies that will ensure
that it has a share of the market.
Sales Strategy
Various marketing vehicles are available for use but the most
effective are social media. WeFit Diet Drink can make of use
social media such as Facebook to build its brand. This tool is
effective because many people in the modern society use the
Internet and have accounts with social networks like Facebook
and Twitter (Zarrella & Zarrella, 2010). Companies such as
Coca-Cola have utilized social media as a marketing vehicle,
and they have effectively built their brands.
The company will be using different avenues to promote and
increase its sales. The first strategy will be the use of social
media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram to
reach a huge number of its potential customers across the
geographical. The company will put in place someone who will
always be monitoring all its activities on all the social media
platforms. He or she will be responsible for responding to any
inquiries that will be raised through the social media platforms.
The other strategy will be the use of the print media.
WeFit understands that not everyone is on these social media
platforms, for example, the rural people and the old men and
women. However, the company knows that at least most of these
segment of potential customers gets to somehow read magazines
and newspapers at least sometimes hence it would be one of the
best options for reaching them. The last method that the
company would also want to use is advertising through the
televisions and radios. The company will approach the various
media houses to do for them the advertising. This last strategy
will surely reach a larger population compared to the other
strategies.
8. Company’s target market
Each business organization must have a target market. This is a
section of the whole market that the business focuses on. There
are consumers of different products and services in the market.
Keeping this in mind, it is necessary for businesses to be
specific on which they are focusing their products (Maclaran,
Saren & Golding, 2012). A business cannot serve the entire
market. Therefore, it needs to identify its target market and
concentrate on serving it in the best way possible. Having a
defined target marker enables a business to be more specific in
terms of the strategies it uses to create and implement
marketing plans.
Analyze the types of consumers
With respect to age, WeFit Diet Drink initially did not think a
target market would be necessary. However, since we will begin
marketing and sell our NAB in the Urban community of
Lincolnia VA 22312 a small city next to Alexandria VA in the
United States, where the population was 22,855 in the census in
2010. Since the largest group in our population is the 16 years
and over range will target the groups that are 16 to 65 years old.
Now as we break those numbers down by category it just makes
sense for us look at the following demographics as this helps
pinpoint out target market:
Average Income: $93,532
Level Education: 85 % of the population is High School grads
or Higher
Sex: the males out number females by about 300 and that help
us market to both male and female alike. Veterans of the
military will also be targeted, as the military community often
9. stays focused on staying healthy after their service.
Average household size: 2 – 4.
The language spoken: English.
Ethnic Groups: White, Black South American, and African
We seek to target anyone who is looking to change their
current beverages for more healthy ones that WeFit plan to
supply. WeFit is a small company with 30 employees that will
remain in the United States until see gain growth large enough
to warrant us to expand internationally. We are in our first year
of business and currently operate in a small strip mall that is
housed in a 10000-squarefoot building. Its products are non-
alcoholic. The legal bodies and authorities do not control the
consumption. The beverages are healthy; therefore, they are
suitable for all ages. This lack of age restriction enables the
company to reach to a larger size of the market, and this is an
effective strategy that can enable the business in achieving
competitiveness.
The education level of the targeted consumers does not affect
the consumption of the company’s products. As stated earlier,
the products are non-alcoholic and are suitable for basically all
members of the society. Provided one can afford, they can
consume without any further restrictions.
WeFit Diet Drink products come in a wide range, and a
potential consumer needs to have a source of income in order to
have any of the products. The products are not for free, they are
sold, and therefore, consumers should have a source of income.
However, the products are affordable. Therefore, a consumer
does not necessarily need to have a well-paying job to afford
them. In addition to this, there are a large variety of the
products that target different members of the society especially
10. with respect to the level of income. Keeping this in
consideration, it is noted that no matter the level of income of
an individual, there is at least a product that one can
comfortably afford. By offering a wide range of products, a
WeFit Diet Drink is in the best position to occupy a large share
of the market no matter how crowded it might be.
The products are not specific to any gender. Whether male or
female, everybody is free to consume the beverages. WeFit Diet
Drink understands that by providing products that are suitable
for all genders, it can serve a larger area of the market. As
businesses develop products, they need to consider how the
target market will assist in gaining a larger share of the market.
Focusing on a larger market is usually a preferred tactic because
it makes it possible for businesses to achieve more.
Company’s market competition
In the business environment, competition plays a very important
role because it has a direct effect on the ability of such an
establishment to be successful or not in the market. With
respect to this, it is necessary for businesses to make use of the
most effective strategies that will be of benefit towards
competitiveness. Since We Fit understands their competitor will
be companies that have been around for many years like Coke,
Pepsi and Gatorade and many other non-alcoholic beverage
companies out there, we understand we have to get our name
and the reason the consumer should switch from their current
drinks and try ours. We seek to focus totally on what our
customers want in the healthy drink category. We want to
consistently focus on drinks that taste great and are good for
you. It is important for the management team to consider the
market so that they come up with the best strategies.
Competition Factors
11. As we took a look at WeFit Diet Drink and compared it to Pepsi
and Coke we found that WeFit has many challenges ahead of it
if they want to compete with the two big industry leaders. Just
to name a few items that we looked closely into during our
Competitive Analysis worksheet were Product Features, Brand
recognition and delivery time. Pepsi and Coke both scored a ten
on the worksheet in all three areas while WeFit Scored first in
them all. Not only did WeFit score low in those areas but as we
continued we found our Internal operations fall short of that of
our competitors also. Since WeFit is so much smaller then
Pepsi and Coke and do not have nearly the employees nor
equipment to produce the amounts of beverages that they can.
WeFit is neither discouraged nor disappointed as we seek to
learn from our competition as we move forward in our
community.
Justification of Company Strategy
The non-alcoholic drinks market is very competitive, and this
requires businesses to apply relevant and effective strategies.
WeFit Diet Drink is basically concerned with the quality and
the price of its products. We understand that these are very
relevant factors that directly affect its competition in the
market. WeFit Diet Drink aims at manufacturing high-quality
products and selling them at affordable prices. This strategy is
effective because it makes the market understand that there is
something unique about the business (Luther, 2011). Although
we appear to be outmatched in every area in respect to breaking
into a market that is overly targeted, WeFit intends to make
products that are only healthy and taste amazing. Our
competitors have to please both healthy and unhealthy NABs,
and that will set us apart from them. Basically, a business
organization needs to be different from the rest especially as far
as marketing is concerned.
During our Market Share distribution, we recognized the top 5
12. diet drinks, and they are
Diet Dr. Pepper, Coco Cola Zero, Diet Mountain Dew, Diet A &
W Root Beer and, Diet
Coke.
Although there are several documents that give conflicting
numbers over the years of which NAB is the leader. However,
all of them say that Pepsi and Coke have been the leaders in the
NAB industry and have sold Billions of dollars’ work of
products and still are battling to become number one in the
industry. Over the past three years, Coke and Pepsi have been
the leaders of the market and the market competition is
increasing.
WeFit Diet Drink Five Fs
Function: WeFit Diet Drinks is a newly formed business
organization that basically operates in the foods and beverage
industry. We will provide a NAB that is strictly for those health
conscious consumers that what a variety of beverages that taste
good and are good for you.
Finances: WeFit will provide healthy NAB and a reasonable
cost to the consumer as well as build an infrastructure that will
last and give back to the community by building fitness centers
in them that will be free to underprivileged families.
Freedom: Consumers will be able to drink our product without
the worries of health concerns and have lots of energy to
complete any tasks they deem necessary.
Feelings: Consumers will have the feeling that they can conquer
the world after drinking our product as it exudes feelings of
self-worth and confidence.
13. Future: The future of the company and consumers will be an
excellent projection as we grow in the community the
community will grow with us. They can be confident in
knowing that we give back to the areas we work and live with
every dollar spent.
ETHICS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Commitment of the Company
The company is very committed to its ethics and social
responsibility to the whole society, as a good corporates citizen
ought to be. The first commitment of the company is the
creation of job opportunities to many people (Luther, 2011). As
a beverage company, WeFit will need to employ several people
in different positions and departments like the production
department, customer service department and all other positions
that would be availed to the people by the company.
The another area that the company will also be committed is by
following the set-out laws and regulation that must be followed
and adhered to by the beverage companies. The company will
also be committed to the treating of all its employees in a fair
and equal manner without discriminating any one of them. The
company when dealing with its employees will follow all the
labor laws that have been put in place by the relevant
authorities. The company is also committed to have a diverse
working force from different ethnic and social places.
Effects of WeFit Activities on the Environment and How to
mitigate them
Choice of Packaging
The company will be using the plastic bottles to package all its
14. soft drinks and sell them. The company clearly understands the
effects of using the plastic bottles to package its products.
However, it is the cheapest way to package them in these plastic
bottles due to ready available materials to manufacture them.
The use of plastic bottles can bring some negative effects on the
overall environment that we live in today. Unlike plants that can
decay, the plastic bottles do not decay whenever they are
disposed of hence posing a huge risk to the environment around
us.
The company has put in place some measures to mitigate such
risks that may occur to the environment by coming up with a
plan on how the plastic bottles can be properly disposed off.
The company will set up different centers where all its plastic
bottles will be collected after being used by the consumers.
Apart from these centers, the company will contract some
people who will be collecting these bottles from wherever they
are to the established centers. The bottles will then be recycled
and used again. The strategy will greatly reduce the risk of
environmental pollution.
Disposal of Bottles
All the bottles will always be collected and disposed of by the
specified agents or companies that will be contracted by the
WeFit company to the specific areas that would have been set
up by the company.
Health Issues
According to research, there are some particular bottles that are
said to have some chemicals that may leach in the soft drinks.
One of these chemicals is known as Bisphenol A. It is a
common chemical that has been cited in the plastic bottles.
Most of the time it is found in plastic bottles that are said to be
marked with a plastic code 7. Most of the bottles that contain
15. these chemicals are said to have been banned in some countries
around the world. However, some countries are still using them.
The Bisphenol has been associated with some problems that are
currently facing the pregnant women around the world. The
chemical has some devastating effects on the fetus. The
chemical normally leads to chromosomal abnormalities. Such
abnormalities are related to birth development disabilities in
childhood and utero and defects. The chemical may also lead to
prostate cancer and breast cancer. Scientific reports indicate
that people with a high concentration of the chemical are three
times more likely to have complications like cardiovascular and
Type 2 diabetes unlike those who have low concentrations of it.
WeFit Company has a plan of doing away with the use of such
bottles that contain the chemical. This is an effort to prevent
any health issues amongst its customers.
Company’s Plan to reach the Appropriate Market
The company plans to reach its market through advertising and
marketing strategies that have been put in place as mentioned
above. Since the soft drinks can be taken by a large number of
people including children and adults, the company will find it
easier to sell its products. However, the people suffering from
diabetes may not be able to take the soft drinks. The company
will have to state on its soft drinks the dangers of consumption
by those people who are diabetic.
BUSINESS PLAN FINANCIALS
Strategic Financial Planning Techniques
WeFit Company will adopt its strategic management of its
financials by setting up its goals and finally analyzing them to
achieve its goals. All the heads of department heads and their
staff in WeFit company will be responsible for the creation of
16. the specific tactics that will help the company to reach its goals.
The heads together with their staff will work using the big
picture objectives that will have been set out by the strategic
management. The company will look at different financial
projections and reports to increase its chances of success.
Budgeting
The company will use budgeting as its most basic form of
analyzing its finances for a better strategic management. The
company will also be conducting its budget variance analysis to
know where previous budgets were inaccurate and the reason
for the inaccuracy. The information will help WeFit company to
make the necessary changes were deemed possible especially
that cause negative budget outcomes.
Pricing Analysis
The company will also conduct a pricing analysis of its
products. The company will try to project the effects of
increasing or decreasing the price of its products in the market.
Such analysis will help the company to create better pricing
strategies like selling at a low price hence generating higher
volume sales or selling at higher prices that might result in low
selling volume of the products (Sadgrove, 2005). The analysis
will help the company determine the effect of these strategies
on its gross profits.
Evaluating Costs
The company will also analyze its financials by calculating the
production and the overhead costs. Overhead costs can be
defined as the expenses that are related to the running of the
business irrespective of what the company sales are. Such costs
may include: office staff, marketing, insurance, and rent. On the
other hand, production costs can be defined as expenses that are
17. directly related to making a company’s product like packaging,
supplies, labor and machinery.
By knowing its overhead and production costs, WeFit will be
able to determine its costs per unit at the company’s different
levels of production. It will also help the company to set its
prices and also show the company whether it should undertake
cost-containment as strategy to improve or achieve its
objectives. The analysis will determine whether WeFit should
reduce its production cost a bit further or if it should reduce its
overhead expenses.
Cash Flow Management
Any company that is known for running a business that is
profitable may encounter some trouble paying up its bills if
does not coordinate the receipt of its receivable s with the exact
due dates of payables. The strategic management of WeFit
includes managing its cash flows effectively and also ensuring
that the company has enough credit or cash to pay up its bills.
WeFit sets out procedures for giving credit to its customers,
maintaining cash reserves and negotiating credit terms with the
suppliers (Maclaran, Saren, & Goulding, 2012). The strategic
management of its cash helps WeFit to prevent losing access to
its materials and supplies. Loss of access to materials and
supplies may lead to low production and loss of customers to
the company.
Performance Analysis
Performance analysis will be very critical to the company
especially when the company will consider buying another
company or shutting any of its branches. For WeFit to make
such decisions, the management will first have to review its
performance in the market. The management will not only seek
to know its profitability performance, but it will also look at the
18. financial effects on the whole of WeFit Company. Acquiring
another profitable company as a way of expanding might end
putting much pressure and stress on the debt-service abilities
together with the administrative staff.

Unit IV Case Study
Claude Holmes
Professor Jim Marion
Project Management
Columbia Southern University
17 November 2016
19. Part 1-Case Study 3.1
Keflavik Paper presents a good example of the danger of
excessive reliance on one screening technique (discounted cash
flows). How might excessive or exclusive reliance on other
screening methods discussed in this chapter lead to similar
problems?
The case presented elucidated that the company has relied too
much on single screening method. The given screening method
is related to the discounted cash flow. However, in reality the
given method is not leading to the overall gaining of the profit
with the help of the production. In order to have a long term
successful business, one has to look forward for the
alternatives. The company should have the alternative methods
in case if one method fails then the other can be used. It should
not put all the eggs in one basket and should move towards
diversification. There are certain inclusive methods that can
cause the creation of the project portfolio. These can have effect
in terms of having harm for long term business practices of the
company. The company can adopt the method for the projection
of the cost of the product in order to evaluate the profit and cost
relationship. Similarly, in the meantime, the company might
overlook the expectations of the potential customers which are
also responsible for the profitability of the organization. The
contemporary method executed by the company is only leading
the account of the loss of the sales due to the not selling of the
product in the open market. Sometimes clients are well aware of
the discounted methods and all the other tactics used in the
market. So, all the methods have equal potential of low profit.
Assume that you are responsible for maintaining Keflavik’s
project portfolio. Name some key criteria that should be used in
evaluating all new projects before they are added to the current
portfolio.
In order to maintain the Keflavik’s project portfolio, some new
20. criteria are required. The criteria are followed by the most
important point that is about the proper management of the
project using the matching of the projects with the portfolio of
the company. In this whole time, the projects have been
mismatched that leads to the mismanagement of all the current
and new projects. As a manager, it is required to align the
portfolio of the projects of the company along with the strategic
mission of the organization the aims and objectives should be
kept at foremost while choosing the project. It will boost the
potential and reliability of the organization among the
customers. In addition to it, it is also recommended that the
company should diversify the processes of costing and profit
analysing depending on the feasibility and nature of the project.
Each project has different scope and nature, so there are
different methods for the evaluation of the cost and profit of the
organization. Furthermore, as a manager, in order to maintain
the organization, it is also recommended to apply the lessons
learned in the previous projects into new projects. For this
purpose, there is a need of an efficient feedback mechanism that
should be maintained at most along with the extensive
communication network. It is further elaborated that the
maintenance of the project portfolio is dependent on the
manager as well. So each project should have the skilled and
well-matched manager whose set of skills matches the
responsibilities of the project. It will help in increasing the
efficiency and performance of the project in return increasing
the profit of the organization.
What does this case demonstrates about the effect of poor
project-screening methods on a firm’s ability to manage its
projects effectively?
The effect of the poor management of the project screening
method on the firm is diverse and disastrous. The project
development of the company has a very lose and spotty record
due to it. Some projects have been delivered on time whereas,
other projects destroys the budget badly. Budgets are over run
21. but the inconsistence project performance yields bad results and
company has lost money. The major effect of the practice is the
development of the project’s family that are not related to each
other in any manner. It has been seen that it put forward the
major lack off of the organization that is the mismatching of the
portfolio of the projects with the processes. The projects are not
measured on the scale of the objectives and strategic missions
of the firm. It is misleading the organization is wrong direction.
The management become worst due to incompatibility of the
mismanaged and mismatched projects with the wrong set skills
of the manager. There is sheer effect on the feedback
mechanism and the distortion in the application of the solution
to the new project the reason of which leads to the
mismanagement of the later one. The in nutshell it leads to
worst management of the project.
Part 2-Case Study 3.2
Phyllis has called you into her office to help her make sense of
the contradictions in project evaluation. How would you explain
the reasons for this divergence of opinion from one technique to
the next? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each
screening method?
I would have elaborated to the Phyllis that there are two
classifications and general classes for the selection of the
project namely non-numerical and numerical. It depends on the
selection of the head of the software development department to
choose the scoring method. One of the methods that can be used
can be Simplified Scoring method. In the use of the scoring
method, the numeric values are used in order to represent the
simplified scoring method. It represents various key factors that
can be helpful in the decision making process of the proposed
project. These numerical values are actually numbers that are
based on importance of the company to correlate the proposed
project. The numbers used in the project ranges from 1-3. The
number 3 is given the maximum importance whereas number 1
is given the least importance. The external and internal issues
22. determine the criteria which are best suited for the organization.
The risks factors are also involved in determining the screening
and selection methods for the project. The factors such as
market potential, additional factors (such as proprietary,
strategy and branding) and internal operational factors are also
responsible for it. The advantages of it is include the alignment
with the strategic goal of the organization and easy to use. The
disadvantages include the manipulation of the data and
inaccurate structure.
Furthermore, another method used by the business organization
includes the Net Present Value method. The net present value
(NPV) method is often used by the organizations for decision
making to choose between the appropriate projects. It includes
the identification of the initial investment along with the added
value of the project that is proposed. It results in the analysis
with more scoring inflows and outflows to determine the
viability of the projects. The advantages of the method include
the decision based on general profits, performance evaluation
based on financial output and provide base from investment
point of view. The disadvantages include the divergence of
opinion, inconsistent with short term strategic goals of the firms
and long term predictions that mostly inaccurate and
complicated.
Choose the project that you feel, based on the above analysis,
Nova Western should select. Defend your choice.
As per the information provided in the case, I would prefer to
go with the simplified scoring method because I feel it suits the
needs of the business in every best possible way. The financial
model provides the outlook of the five year comparison plan for
both the proposed projects to decide for the accurate choice
between them. The project Janus offers the given opportunity:
The investment of today is $ 250,000 whereas the yielded
expected stream is of $150,000 for the first year in compliance
with the calculated NVP of $60,995for preceding five years.
On the other hand, the project Genesis has the investment of
23. initial of $400,000 with the expected yield of $75,000 each
year. The calculation of its NPV depicted the value of $25,695
after 3 years. In order to analyse the both project, I will require
NPV of both projects and recalculate them. After this, I will
calculate the internal rate of return in order to take in
consideration the stream of the cash flows and the estimation of
the breakeven point for the each project. So, using both of the
models it will be easy to analyse individual project by
considering the internal rate of return.
What does the above case suggest to you about the use of
project selection methods in organizations? How would you
resolve the contradictions found in this example?
In the above given case it can be elucidated that the project
selection methods has two point of views. One model of them is
the financial model; it suggests that the given values are the
support for the basic goals of the organization. In fact, this
model does not reflect the more elaborated financial aspects of
the proposed projects. In addition to it, the other method of the
scoring method depicted the simplistic values method I decision
making about the projects. It is open to misunderstandings and
inaccuracies. It has different criteria and it will weigh the
projects on different basis that can be different from the basic
goal of the organization. The company is reviewing the project
on the basis of these two methods. It will create
misunderstandings for the foundation of the projects with
varying ideas about the success of the project. The financial
model followed remains incomplete and leads to the decision
that is based on inaccuracies. The department who is
administrating these projects methodologies and ideas are
making their best for good results. The decision is based on
these models; it will be hectic and misleading most of the times.
According to my analysis, there is lack in terms of expert
knowledge and lack of experience to analyse such projects
efficiently.
24. Part 3-Fictional Group Project
The group project is based on four team members. It is using the
technique of the software development project. The project is
about the development of the software that is about the
recording of the notes of the students during lectures with the
help of the software without disturbing them during lectures.
The group is composed of the software engineer, project
manager, financial advisor and marketing and public relation
manager. The software should entangle the needs of the students
of recording and preparing automatic hand written notes of the
lectures that teachers deliver. It will save the time of the
students and help them to concentrate fully on the lecture rather
than the hassle of noting the lectures. Part 4
Background
This is a common observation that the noting of the speeches
and lectures are a common practice in educational institutions,
corporate meetings, and press conferences. It is not possible for
the human to note each and every line of the speaker on the
spot. So there are many distortions and individuals cannot keep
pace with the speech of the speakers. There are many devices
that can be used for the purpose of recording of the lectures and
speeches in audio form. But there is no device or software that
can help the individuals with taking notes of the live speeches
and lectures.
Task
The project production involves a number of tasks that needs to
be done step by step. These tasks are as follow:
· Market research
· Software designing
· Entity Relationship Diagram preparation
· Software prototype preparation
· Software prototype
· Software development
25. · Production planning
· Marketing
· Project planning
Objectives
The basic objectives are as follow:
· To record the lecture for the students in written form to make
the notes
· To record the speeches of the individuals during press releases
and press conferences for the reporters
· To record the details of the corporate meetings for the revision
purpose and for record keeping
Approach
The approach used in the project is software development. The
software of the specified specifications needs to be developed
according to the lists of the task.
Input Source
The input source can be any android phone, Mac book, laptop,
smart phones and any device that can have the compatibility
with the software.
