EUTHANASIA
EUTHANASIA
Every human being has that one person that they love and care about, and the last thing that they want to do is to see them in pain. However, this doesn’t give anyone a right to take that person’s life, and if you choose to do it, it doesn’t make it right. This is why this paper is going to look at euthanasia. Euthanasia also famously known as mercy killing refers to the painless and deliberate killing of a patient who is known to be suffering from an incurable as well as painful disease or who is in a coma. To some, it may look like a good way of letting their loved one rest from all the pain, but the big question is it right? When you consider all the implications on the feelings of the various people involved, it shouldn’t be a consideration at all. This paper seeks to look at the history and background of euthanasia, its status and look at it as a problem from various perspectives.
The debates concerning euthanasia and its existence range back to 5th Century BC in ancient Greece as well as Rome where there were debates concerning the ethics of euthanasia. When ether was developed, many physicians started advocating that there should be the use of anesthetics to relieve patients of their pains. In the year 1870, Samuel Williams gave the first proposition that anesthetics and morphine should be used to deliberately end the life of a patient. Since then, there have been major debates and arguments for and against euthanasia as a method of ending one’s life.
Euthanasia is illegal in most of the countries. However, some have legalized it. According to ProCon (2016), there are two kinds of euthanasia that are considered, active euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide. Most countries have made it clear that both of them are illegal and ought not to be practiced. However, some western countries, at least 8, have either legalized one or both types of practices. Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands are some of the countries that have legalized both practices. On the other hand, Canada, Finland, and Switzerland have legalized Physician Assisted Suicide. Colombia has legalized euthanasia only. This clearly shows that there just like any other argument, when it comes to euthanasia, there are those who are for it and those who are against it.
There are various problems that are associated with euthanasia as a form of ending one’s life. When we consider the social problem, we know that euthanasia has various social implications to the society at large. As much as one may say that it is one’s decision or the next of kin or whoever has the person’s power of attorney to make that decision, it is beyond just personal. When we consider the society, we also consider those physicians or doctors who will carry out the act of euthanasia. All the students who attend medical school are taught the importance of life and that they shouldn’t be involved in killing their patients

Abstract: Voluntary euthanasia has been legalized in several countries and associated with this development there has been much discussion
concerning the relationship between the ethical principle of autonomy and the respect for human life. Psychological science should make a
significant contribution to understanding how polarizing positions may be taken in such debates. However, little has been written concerning
the implications of this research for the euthanasia debate and about the contributions of psychology. In the same way, very little is written
about the psychologist’s role in countries where voluntary euthanasia or assisted suicide is legalized. We take as a starting assumption that
there are no solutions that will meet everyone’s wishes or needs, but that an understanding of psychological ideas, can assist in developing
strategies that may help people with opposing views come to some agreement. In our view, it is fundamental to a fruitful analysis, to leave
aside a polarized approach and to understand that an eventual answer to the question of how we approach voluntary euthanasia will only be
achieved after the hard process of carefully considering the consequences of having either legalized voluntary euthanasia or its prohibition, in
the context of a psychological understanding.

competing ethical principles (Youngner & Arnold, 2016).

Significant Points –
In this piece of work, we shall be discussing the significance of mainstream news media of any society and how it can be observed in the light of a sociological theory which clarifies the context in which the mainstream news media acts in any particular society. Moreover, there is also a need to observe the way in which the mainstream media has evolved with time and also keep an eye out for the intensity of expression of sentiment in different media forms. Media can be considered a part of daily communication throughout any society which takes place mainly by the newspaper, social networking handles, cell phones, etc. and it would not be wrong to say that media has proved to be a door for revolution and evolution during many times of darkness throughout the human history (Croteau and Hoynes).
3. Your theoreticalanalysis (100-150 words): Use the main concepts of just ONE sociological theory (functionalism, conflict, symbolic interactionism, or social exchange) to explain what is happening and why it’s happening in this example. Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to continue drafting your academic argumentative research paper.
Description: In this assignment, you will write three to four body paragraphs according to the form that is explained in "Lesson 3: The Body Paragraphs." The following requirements must be included in the assignment:
· Body Paragraphs: You will construct three to four paragraphs comprised of five to seven sentences each. Each paragraph should be between 150-200 words. At a minimum, this portion of the paper should be around 450-600 words (for three to four paragraphs); a body section of this length will meet the minimum requirements of the assignment. The following components must be included in each body paragraph (in the following order).
. Sentence 1: Point/reason sentence: This topic sentence will contain one of your reasons.
. Sentence 2: Explanation: In this sentence, you provide information that further develops or explains Sentence 1.
. Sentence 3: Illustration: This sentence introduces evidence that supports the reason that is presented in Sentence 1.
. Sentence 4: Explanation of the illustration: Because the evidence does not necessarily stand on its own, you need to provide explanation so that the reader will understand how you interpreted the evidence to come to your reason.
. Sentences 5-6: Second illustration and explanation (optional): You may choose to include a second piece of evidence that is then followed by an explanation.
. Last Sentence: Transition: In this sentence, you will signal to the reader that you will be moving on to another point in the next paragraph. You do this to ease the movement from one point to another.

Introduction
Life has its different stages. In each and every stage, a human being needs someone to help him or her out of situations and problems. Many people have shown interest in the topic, and each and every person gives different views. The most interesting part is that each and every person has justification for his or her position which leaves one confused which side to support and which not to.
My position on the topic I chose
I believe that each and every person has a purpose in this world. The existence of every human being is not an accident. There are different roles that people play when they are alive, and their deaths play a role in shaping and influencing the lives of those who have been left alive. It is the belief of each and every person, despite their culture, that life is a gift from the Supreme Being. The giver of the life should always be the taker (ProCon. Org, 2016). No one has the right to take anyone’s life no matter the circumstances. No one decided to exist, and nature made it possible. Planning to take one’s life is against nature. People have different beliefs, and my belief is that everyone plays a part in shaping this world, whether healthy or sick. Miracles can happen, and they can happen at the last minute. To ensure that such miracles are of benefit to any patient, it is logical to let that person live to the very last moment of his or her life.
Three premises from Procon.org website that support my position and why I selected them
i) Suicide is not permitted
As much as people advocate for Euthanasia, it is a form of suicide. In 1997, the Supreme Court made a ruling concerning suicide. No one is allowed to take his or her life. Taking one’s life is illegal and punishable. Each and every person should live to his or her last day.
ii) Legalized murder
Euthanasia is the same as committing murder the only difference is that it is done differently and nonviolently. Logically murder is inhuman as well as illegal. The fact that people commit murder in th.

· Be sure to include the introduction and literature review you have already created and revised.

Reply 1 Effects of Illness on Women's Relationships
In addition to affecting the lives of those who are ill, illnesses may also profoundly affect the spouses or partners who care for those who are ill. Anxiety and depression may increase as caregivers adjust to new realities and expectations. On the other hand, intimacy and closeness may increase as partners solidify their relationships in the face of illness. Though every relationship is unique, there are some trends that can be seen across relationships when, for instance, in a heterosexual relationship the man is the caregiver, and alternatively when the women is the caregiver. Lesbian relationships, too, are impacted when one partner is ill, sometimes in similar patterns to heterosexual relationships, and sometimes in different ways.
To prepare for this Discussion, consider how illness might affect a life partner relationship under these different relationship configurations.
Women's Health
Reply 1– Effects of Illness on Women’s Relationships
In a relationship, when one becomes very ill and requires a caregiver, it can significantly impact the relationship. In some instances, it can make the relationship stronger, however, there are many challenges from the perspective of both male and female. Alexander and Wilz (2010) state that family caregivers have to develop coping skills to deal with issues that could arise daily. Taking care of someone poses different challenges, resulting in different types of stressors so caregivers need to be conscientious of those challenges to be prepared to deal with them when they come up. Additionally, being a caregiver for a loved one can be very taxing and cumbersome, resulting in decreased mental and physical health (Alexander & Wilz, 2010).
Fekete et al. (2007) states that emotional support has a significant influence on an individual with a chronic illness. Emotional support provides a more positive outlook for an individual, which, can impact their mental state and also influence their health (Fekete et al., 2007). Additionally, caregivers or spouses of individuals with chronic illnesses are more susceptible to health implications and psychological stress, resulting from lifestyles changes, assuming the responsibilities of their loved one, limited time for social events, and most importantly, lack of self-care (Fekete et al., 2007). Fekete et al. (2007) also states that women and men differ on how they support each other and how they interpret that support.
According to Umberson et al. (2016), various factors should be considered in thinking about how individuals interpret and respond to relationships. Social contexts influence the way in which men and women deal with illness. For example, men are typically encouraged to be strong, independent, and inattentive regarding physical illness or pain, therefore men are more likely to avoid accepting or looking for help whereas women are perceived to be delicate and feeble (Umberson et al., 2016)..

ARTICLE ANALYSIS 1
Week 1 Writing Assignment:
Our Blind Spot about Guns Article by Nicholas Kristof Analysis
What is the title and author of your selected essay?
Our Blind Spot About Guns by Nicholas Kristof
What is the topic of the essay?
Guns as people’s blind spot
What is the author’s argument on the topic?
The author argues that guns has for long remained a major threat to human life since they are not
properly regulated. It is their uncontrolled use nature that leads to high rates of homicide cases
something that many people consider not true but in reality the society is negatively affected by
high presence of guns among members of society.
What evidence does the author use to present their point of view?
The author provides cases of reported homicides where guns are used and compares them with
number of motor vehicle accidents. He also demonstrates how vehicles are regulated to prevent
instances of accidents by drivers having series of rules to comply with something that is not
applied when it comes to guns.
Identify one writing strategy (rhetorical mode) the author uses to make their argument?
The author makes use of a comparing and contrasting writing strategy to show the difference in
different scenarios for people to understand how it is like and how it would be like in the case
proposed measures are put in place.
What is your position on the topic?
Guns are important for personal and public use as they help increase levels of security. However,
there should be a lot of control measures on how and when they should be used. There should be

clear penalties for abuse of guns as this would help in reducing increasing cases of gun abuse a
reality that has been ignored for long.
Do you agree or disagree with author? Why?
Yes I agree with the author because there have been many cases where licensed gun holders have
used guns wrongly leading to loss of life and no action has taken against them as they have been
able to argue that they felt that their safety was being threatened. It is hence important for gun
owners to be controlled so that they can stop risking lives of people who do not own guns.
What would you do differently if you were to present this argument? (Describe specific
elements)
The one thing I would do differently is demonstrating how events where guns are regulated human
life is much safer from the aspects of people who do not own guns and how the life of people in
general is at risk whenever there are weak and ineffective gun control measures.
Describe reasons why someone might disagree with the author’s stance?
Someone might disagree with the author’s argument since there are many other causes of death and
that gun only contributes a fraction of total number of deaths. Somebody opposing .

In general, reliabilities less than 0.60 are considered to be poor, those in the 0.70 range, acceptable, and those over 0.80 good. Thus, the internal consistency reliability of the measures used in this study can be considered to be acceptable for the job enrichment measure and good for the other measures.
It is important to note that all the negatively worded items in the questionnaire should first be reversed before the items are submitted for reliability tests. Unless all the items measuring a variable are in the same direction, the reliabilities obtained will be incorrect.
A sample of the result obtained for the Cronbach’s alpha test for job enrichment, together with instructions on how it is obtained, is shown in Output 11.3.
The reliability of the job enrichment measure is presented in the first table in Output 11.3. The second table provides an overview of the alphas if we take one of the items out of the measure. For instance, it is shown that if the first item (Jobchar1) is taken out, Cronbach’s alpha of the new three-item measure will be 0.577. This means that the alpha will go down if we take item 1 out of our measure. On the other hand, if we take out item 3, our alpha will go up and become 0.851. Note that, in this case, we would not take out item 3 for two reasons. First, our alpha is above 0.7 so we do not have to take any remedial actions. Second, if we took item 3 out, the validity of our measure would probably decrease. We did not include item 3 for nothing in the original measure!
If, however, our Cronbach’s alpha was too low (under 0.60) then we could use this table to find out which of the items would have to be removed from our measure to increase the interitem consistency. Note that, usually, taking out an item, although improving the reliability of our measure, affects the validity of our measure .

Formal Essay #3: Reporting Information/The Expository Essay
Expository writing is a staple of academic writing. Throughout your academic and professional career, you will be called on to write hundreds of expository articles, reports and essays. A thorough knowledge of this writing form will hold you in good stead all through your career.
What is Expository Writing?
‘Expository’ is a synonym of ‘explanatory’. An expository essay is a piece of writing that explains or informs. It should be based on fact and free of the writer’s prejudices. Opinion is often expressed, but only if it is backed by fact. For example, if someone asked you to write an essay on the causes of World War II, you would write about Germany’s losses in World War I, the Treaty of Versailles, the fall of the Weimar Republic, and the rise of Hitler led Nazism. In other words, everything would be based on verifiable fact.
The expository writing process centers on four activities:
Generate a rough idea or hypothesis.
Find evidence to back up this idea.
Expound on the idea.
Present an argument to back up the idea.
Thus, if you were to say that the Treaty of Versailles was the chief cause of World War II, you would first talk about the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles, the financial condition of Germany after WWI, the ineffectiveness of the Weimar Republic, and how they all led to the rise of Nazism.
Structurally, a piece of expository writing has the following components:
An
introduction
that introduces the central idea you will discuss in the essay.
The
main body
that presents evidence to back up the idea. This is the meat of the essay.
A
conclusion
that presents your idea again in the light of the evidence.
Thus, the central thrust of expository writing should be to build towards proving an argument, fact by fact, piece of evidence by piece of evidence. You will use expository writing a lot throughout your academic life. Most essays that you write in college will be expository in nature. Most writing that you will do in your professional life will involve a lot of expository content as well. In other words, sharpening up this skill will serve you well throughout your life.

After the civil war, the African American, Hispanics and minorities suffered great discrimination in the workplace in particular and life generally. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

EUTHANASIA
EUTHANASIA
Every human being has that one person that they love and care
about, and the last thing that they want to do is to see them in
pain. However, this doesn’t give anyone a right to take that
person’s life, and if you choose to do it, it doesn’t make it right.
This is why this paper is going to look at euthanasia. Euthanasia
also famously known as mercy killing refers to the painless and
deliberate killing of a patient who is known to be suffering from
an incurable as well as painful disease or who is in a coma. To
some, it may look like a good way of letting their loved one rest
from all the pain, but the big question is it right? When you
consider all the implications on the feelings of the various
people involved, it shouldn’t be a consideration at all. This
paper seeks to look at the history and background of euthanasia,
its status and look at it as a problem from various perspectives.
The debates concerning euthanasia and its existence range back
to 5th Century BC in ancient Greece as well as Rome where
there were debates concerning the ethics of euthanasia. When
ether was developed, many physicians started advocating that
there should be the use of anesthetics to relieve patients of their
pains. In the year 1870, Samuel Williams gave the first
proposition that anesthetics and morphine should be used to
deliberately end the life of a patient. Since then, there have
been major debates and arguments for and against euthanasia as
a method of ending one’s life.
2. Euthanasia is illegal in most of the countries. However, some
have legalized it. According to ProCon (2016), there are two
kinds of euthanasia that are considered, active euthanasia and
physician-assisted suicide. Most countries have made it clear
that both of them are illegal and ought not to be practiced.
However, some western countries, at least 8, have either
legalized one or both types of practices. Belgium, Luxembourg,
The Netherlands are some of the countries that have legalized
both practices. On the other hand, Canada, Finland, and
Switzerland have legalized Physician Assisted Suicide.
Colombia has legalized euthanasia only. This clearly shows that
there just like any other argument, when it comes to euthanasia,
there are those who are for it and those who are against it.
There are various problems that are associated with euthanasia
as a form of ending one’s life. When we consider the social
problem, we know that euthanasia has various social
implications to the society at large. As much as one may say
that it is one’s decision or the next of kin or whoever has the
person’s power of attorney to make that decision, it is beyond
just personal. When we consider the society, we also consider
those physicians or doctors who will carry out the act of
euthanasia. All the students who attend medical school are
taught the importance of life and that they shouldn’t be
involved in killing their patients
This value is what maintains the trust between the doctors and
their patients and the doctors and the society. Legalizing
euthanasia distorts that clear line, and this has a direct impact
on the nurse or doctor’s obligation to protect as well as respect
a patient’s life. This then means that ensuring that euthanasia
remains illegal is not only trying to protect the life of the
patients but also trying to maintain the trust of the society at
large in their own physicians and in the medical field at large
(Somerville, 2009).
Secondly, the legalizing of euthanasia is an ethical problem.
There are various implications that come with it. One is that the
sanctity of line is weakened. The society will no longer see life
3. as something important since a human being can just decide
who lives and who dies. The implications will be that the
elderly, people with various disabilities and those of unsound
mind will be discriminated. They will-will see as a burden since
they have an option of ending their life by being in pain. They
will be considered less of human beings and their lives will be
termed worthless since they may seem not to be adding any
value and constantly need to be taken care of. This way, the
society will force them or in a way influence them to take an
option of ending their lives. This way, there will be no more
respect for human life (BBC, 2014).
Thirdly, when we consider the complexity of the issue of
euthanasia, we realize that it is a major problem. This is not
something that one wakes up one morning and decides to do; it
involves a lot of soul searching, and this is emotionally
draining. The fact that one has to think about it over and over
makes it a complex decision to make. Even to the professionals
who carry out this process, we know that it is complex. Most of
them are severely affected by it and have to go constantly for
therapy to recover. This makes it a complex issue and one that
shouldn’t be taken lightly. This clearly brings out the fact that
this issue should be well handled, and one’s life should be
respected. Life isn’t something to be taken for granted and
lightly and thus no one should be given the right to take it away
from another person for whatever reason.
It is clear from the above discussion that euthanasia has so
many implications. It is not something that has been introduced
now and from the history, we get that the arguments for and
against it have been there since time immemorial. The fact that
it is a social problem, ethical problem and is very complex
brings out the fact that it shouldn’t be taken lightly. The
implications that it leaves behind are things that are to be
dreaded, and that may change the society’s perspective on life
negatively and thus under no circumstances should it be
considered.
