Hello,
If you are reading this you are probably in the business of blast engi-
neering, mining or civil construction. You may or may not have been in
contact with pyrotechnical rock breaking systems before.
Regardless if you have prior experience, I am here to guide you through
a completely new approach to low explosive rock breaking. We, Etken
Teknologi and partners, have been working very hard to develop what
we consider to be the best pyrotechnical rock breaking system in the
world.
We are proud to introduce the Royex Generation 2 rock breaking
system. The system introduces new and completely unique features to
the arena. With this system we know that you won’t look at rock brea-
king tools the same way again.
We have also secured manufacturing capabilities and supply of raw
material allowing for very high volume production. This effectively
makes our manufacturing very lean and cost effective and that will be
reflected in both unit price and quality.
Our ambition is to make the Royex Rock breaking system synonymous
with high quality, production efficiency, function and unbeatable cost
effectiveness. This brochure will guide you through the reasons as to
why I believe we have achieved this.

1 Timing
The rock breaking cartridges have been haunted by numerous issues
in the past. Issues that has not had any serious solutions up until
now. We are now proud to introduce the following new features to
the rock breaking arena:
Through our new MaxClip igniter series, we can now offer
the world’s first complete 1.4S shock tube timing system
designed for optimal initiation of the Royex Gen 2
propellant mix.
Fully oxygen balanced and with a density close to one, the
Royex Gen 2 propellant mix brings more power than ever
seen in a rock breaking cartridge
To ensure maximal flexibility, the cartridge has been sepa-
rated from the igniter. The operator can choose from a
range of cartridge sizes and over 6 different types of
igniter configurations.
Traditionally, the volumes and supply of rock breaking
cartridges has been low. We have changed that and
through efficient supply and manufacturing processes,
the Royex Gen 2 system offers maximum value for money.

The layout
The system consists of a cartridge and an initiation system - MaxClip. The cartridge in
turn consists of a plastic tube housing with a bottom and igniter fitting in both ends,
respectively. The igniter fitting is a threaded fitting designed to create a water tight
seal between the cap and the MaxFire igniter. On top of the igniter cap comes the
igniter protection cap, designed to protect the igniter and the shock tube or cable
from the overhead stemming.

The MixThe propellant mix used in the Royex Gen 2 has
been developed to ensure optimal burn without
compromising the oxygen balance or density.
Density
The Royex Gen 2 mix has the highest AN/NC mix
density available today: 0.96 g / cm 3
Oxygen balance
The propellant mix is chemically designed to produce optimal
oxygen balance. It also contains less nitrocellulose per gram to
minimize the amount of NOx gases
Grain balance
AN and NC grains have the same size. This means that the mix
will be uniform and will not separate during storage or shipping.
Introducing the MaxClip system
MaxClip is the first 1.4S pyrotechnical initiation system with world class timing. It is the
first system designed for optimal initiation of propellant cartridges and it brings the
classical timing and interval capabilities until now only available for high explosive
detonators. MaxClip igniter may receive either an electrical or shock tube signal.
Benefits and features
World class pyrotechnical timing. The timing is
comparable to the timing accuracy of top shock
tube detonator systems.
Easy to connect. All connectors are color coded to
minimize risk of errors and to increase the speed of
the tie up.
Reduced risk. The connector units are water tight
and come with a threaded fitting. This ensures that
all connections are firmly in place during tie up and
loading operations.
Modular. The MaxClip shock tube igniter is pre-
configured in four different configurations, three-,
four-, five- and six-way clips. Each clip has an incoming
signal receive port and an outgoing out of hole signal
propagation unit that connects to the next MaxClip
receiving port.
REcommended Timing
Out of hole / surface / red igniter: 200 ms
In hole / cartridge / yellow: 4000 ms
If the recommended timing is not suitable, the following
alternatives are available:
Out of hole timings: 25,42,67,200,400 ms
In hole timings: 500,750,2000,2200,4000 ms
MaxClip and Royex
The MaxClip MaxFire consists of four components:
1) The in hole (hot) igniter
2) The out hole igniter
3) The connection Squib
4) The shock tube or electrical cable
Connecting the Royex Gen 2 cartridge to an in hole igniter is done by opening the
Royex protection cap and screwing in the igniter into the threaded cartridge
igniter cap. To connect the round to the next, simply screw in the out-
of hole igniter into the following connection squib.
All connections are designed to be robust and waterproof.
The squib housing does not break upon initiation which
eliminates the risk for cut offs and misfires.
Out of hole igniter
The MaxClip out of hole igniter and the out of hole
color coded connection unit. The unit connects to the
connection Squib to create a signal propagation
connection. The out of hole igniter comes with world
class timing functionality with excellent precision.
In hole igniter
The MaxClip in hole igniter and the in hole color coded
connection unit. The in hole unit connects to the Royex
cartridge igniter fitting and creates a waterproof
fitting. The in hole MaxFire is a very hot and powerful
igniter designed specifically for optimal initiation of the
Royex propellant mix. Fitted with timing delays of very
high quality and accuracy.
Connection Squib
Connection unit for the out of hole igniter. The Squib
acts as a signal propagation connection.
The connection
MaxClip brings a range of advancements and improvements to pyrotechnical initia-
tion. Among these is the fitting design of the igniters, squibs and cartridge initiation
caps.
The in hole and out hole MaxFire igniters comes with a unique fitting design.
The in hole igniter is designed to fit into the Royex cartridge igniter cap and the out
of hole igniter is designed to fit onto the connection squib housing.
Different designs on the fittings and color coding makes the igniter insertion very
simple and minimizes the risk for errors and misfires.

The three way clip consists of one in hole igniter, one out hole igniter and
one connection squib. The three way clip is the most flexible unit as it
allows for accurate timing of each individual hole. Ideal for both surface
and underground operations.

The three way clip allows for individual hole timing and is ideal for under-
ground situations. The clip is also ideal for single hole shots in open cast
and secondary breaking.

The four way clip allows for common timing of two cartridges and is ideal for
underground and above ground situations such as trenching and quarrying.
The clip is also ideal for dual hole shots in open cast and secondary breaking.

The four way clip is used in situations where two holes are required to go at
the same time. The clip is ideal for underground and over ground
operations such as trenching.

Applications include trenching,
quarrying and secondary
breaking.
Maxclip FIVE way clip
The five way clip is used in situation where three holes are required to go at
the same time. The clip is ideal for underground and over ground
operations such as trenching, shaft sinking and quarrying.
Maxclip SIX way clip
The six way clip is used in situation where four holes are required to go at the
same time. The clip is used for initiating cut rounds under ground and for large
surface operations as large trenchings, shaft sinking and quarrying.
Maxclip ELECTRIC
The electric maxclip comes in two versions, in hole and out hole. The in hole
electric version offers an electric igniter to the Royex cartridge. The out of
hole electric MaxFire aims to be used as means to start a blast.
The Maxfire Igniter
The MaxFire igniter is specially designed to initiate the Royex
propellant mixture. Upon initiation, the igniter creates a long, powerful
flame front that burns over 900° celsius. The power of the initiation also
causes turbulence in the cartridge, creating a very large initiation surface.
Classified as a 1.4S pyrotechnical product, the MaxFire igniter is the most
powerful igniter avaliable on the market today.

The in hole and out hole MaxFire igniters comes with a unique fitting design. The in hole igniter is designed to fit into the Royex cartridge igniter cap and the out of hole igniter is designed to fit onto the connection squib housing. Different designs on the fittings and color coding makes the igniter insertion very simple and minimizes the risk for errors and misfires.   • 15. Maxclip ELECTRIC The electric maxclip comes in two versions, in hole and out hole. The in hole electric version offers an electric igniter to the Royex cartridge. The out of hole electric MaxFire aims to be used as means to start a blast.
  • 16. The Maxfire Igniter The MaxFire igniter is specially designed to initiate the Royex propellant mixture. Upon initiation, the igniter creates a long, powerful flame front that burns over 900° celsius. The power of the initiation also causes turbulence in the cartridge, creating a very large initiation surface. Classified as a 1.4S pyrotechnical product, the MaxFire igniter is the most powerful igniter avaliable on the market today. Water tight crimp Water tight crimp connecting the electrical cables or shock tube to the igniter. Delay element Pyrotechnical delay element allowing for 200 ms out hole and 4000 ms in hole timing. Base charge Pyrotechnical base charge allowing for a very hot and powerful initiation burst.
