The students were ultimately able to change people's minds about the harms of drug use through their community outreach activities.

The Girl Guide Movement started in 1948 at Musaeus College in Sri Lanka. In 1996, former Girl Guides from the college formed the Ex 23rd Colombo Club to support Guiding, do community projects, and stay connected. One of their first projects was renovating a kids area. Currently, they are focused on addressing chronic kidney disease in northern Sri Lanka through various initiatives like building a halfway house for patients and supporting villages. Their efforts have received recognition and support in the fight against this disease.
Faculty presentation was done by Dr. Nalin Abesyekera on “CSR and future of Open University” by highlighting following projects done by Department of Management Studies.

Rotary has helped electrify schools in Africa through solar power installations. In August 2015 only 4 schools in Uganda were electrified, but by January 2018 that number had grown to 18 schools due to Rotary's efforts. The goal is to electrify 50 schools by 2025. One such project, called Solarize Uganda Now, provides stable, safe power to schools which allows for expanded study hours. This benefits the estimated 50% of Uganda's population that is under 15. Rotary projects invest in the local economy by training and hiring local workers and supporting sustainability.
The article summarizes a Rotary Club of Madras project to make the village of Amarampedu in Gummidipoondi open defecation free. The project used a community-led approach to change attitudes towards sanitation and encourage villagers to construct toilets. It was very successful, with all 109 households now having toilets. Over the past 11 years, more than 10 million books have been distributed for free to schools, prisons, nurseries, old age homes, universities, orphanages and clinics through 204 containers. An event sponsored by OMO washing powder set a world record by creating the longest washing line over a river with 6,709 shirts fluttering in the wind. It took 23 engineers months to plan the 3 day festival attended by 3,000 visitors and featuring the 3.5 mile long suspended steel cable. A weekend cycling tour across 3 districts and two countries saw over 27,000 cyclists participate, including 4,000 from outside South Africa, and received full media coverage on TV.
The NSS-DTU unit was inaugurated in 2013 to establish a link between the campus and community and orient students towards community service. It has around 125 student volunteers from various engineering disciplines. Activities have included maintaining order at cultural events, welcoming freshers, health camps, tree plantations, cloth donations, tuition for primary students, and plans for self-defense workshops, adopting villages, rural camps, and conducting an energy audit of the campus. The goal is to expose students to social issues and poverty while benefiting the community.

- NCC cadets played a key role in relief and rehabilitation efforts during devastating floods in Kerala in 2018 and 2019, which caused widespread damage, deaths, and displacement of people into relief camps.
- In 2018, NCC cadets set up a relief camp at their college that sheltered 44 families, assisted with airlifting and dropping over 4 tons of relief supplies, and launched cleaning initiatives that covered 91 public facilities.

The Regional Centre of Expertise in Minna, Nigeria launched a Green School Initiative to engage high school students in maintaining seedlings and raising environmental awareness. Ten schools were selected to each receive 10 seedlings to plant on their grounds. A follow up inspection found that 62.2% of seedlings survived, though schools faced challenges with watering and maintenance. The best performing school will receive an incentive to encourage sustainable practices. The initiative aims to promote sustainable development goals of combating climate change and protecting ecosystems through learning opportunities for youth.
Dr. Chennamaneni Ramesh, an MLA, launched a project 3 years ago to provide purified drinking water to all 70 villages and 3 lakh people in the Vemulawada constituency in order to improve health. The project uses reverse osmosis and UV technology to purify brackish water. It has established 65 water plants serving 2.4 lakh people across 5 mandals. The project provides employment and the water is sold at subsidized rates to help the poor. Feedback shows the water has reduced water-borne diseases in the area.

• The project name caleed 'Vellicham" was launched to support the
basic education of Nochikulam Tamil Maha Vidyalayam at
Morawewa, Trincomalee. In this school had a lack of teachers to
run the school and some teachers are rendered their service
without payment.
In this project Rotary is supporting to give the monthly salary for
five teachers per month Rs.9,500.00. This is a continual project
and it was launched on President Installation Ceremony.
