Room 101 is a torture chamber used by the Party in the novel 1984 to break people by confronting them with their worst fears. In Room 101, O'Brien tells Winston that everyone knows what is in Room 101 - their worst nightmare. Through torture in Room 101, the Party is able to brainwash Winston to betray Julia and love Big Brother, completely wiping his memory and individuality.
