• Transportation is the movement of humans, animals and goods from
one location to another.
• The primary function of Transportation is the transfer of messages
and information.
• Transportation plays an important role in the development of
civilisations from very old times.
• The political decision of construction and maintenance of roads has
resulted in development of Transportation System.
4. OBJECTIVES
• To promote the development of the backward region and
integrating them.
• To transfer the messages and information.
• To get better connectivity to the different parts of the country.
• To integrate land use planning with infrastructure development.

• Makes available raw materials to manufactures or
producers.

• Helps to provide basic amenities of life, promotes social welfare.
• Boosts one’s general knowledge related to different societies, cultures,

RURAL DEVELOPMENT
• With the help of transport, fertilizers and other inputs for
agriculture and cottage industries could reach to the rural
population easily.
• Products can be sold at the marketplace resulting into faster
economic growth.
• With improved facilities for education, healthcare, and other social
needs in the villages, the urge of migration to urban areas
decreases, thus helping in the balanced development of the
country as a whole.

14. CONCLUSION
• Transport extends the range of sources of supply of goods to be
consumed in an area making it possible for user to get resources
at cheaper price and high quality.
• The use of more efficient systems of supply results in an increase
in the total amount of goods available for consumption.
