This document is a summer training presentation submitted by a civil engineering student for partial fulfillment of their bachelor's degree. It summarizes key concepts in road modification and construction including different types of roads, pavements, and equipment used. Specifically, it discusses earthwork preparation, flexible and rigid pavements, common road types in India like national highways and village roads, and components of roadway construction such as the carriageway, pavement, kerb, and shoulder. Examples of equipment used are compacting rollers, dozers, scrapers, concrete mixers, and barricading materials. The presentation then provides details of a specific road project to upgrade an 8 km long village road.

Thousands of years before urban planning, motor vehicles, or even the wheel, the first roads appeared on the landscape. Just as molecules coalesced into cells and cells into more complex organisms, our first roads were spontaneously formed by humans walking the same paths over and over to get water and find food. As small groups of people combined into villages, towns and cities, networks of walking paths became more formal roads. Following the introduction of the wheel about 7,000 years ago, the larger, heavier loads that could be transported showed the limitations of dirt paths that turned into muddy bogs when it rained. The earliest stone paved roads have been traced to about 4,000 B.C. in the Indian subcontinent and Mesopotamia.

Highway engineering means the art of designing, constructing and maintaining public roads. Roads are considered to be one of the most cost effective and preferred modes of transportation. It is easily available and accessible to all sections of the society. It facilitates the movement of both men and materials from one place to another within a country. It helps to bring about national integration as well as provide for countries overall socio-economic development. It is a key infrastructural unit which links to other modes of transportation like railway, shipping, airways etc. Hence an efficient and well established road network is inevitable for promoting trade and commerce as well as meeting the needs of sound transportation system in the country.

Automobile Management System Project Report.pdfKamal Acharya
The proposed project is developed to manage the automobile in the automobile dealer company. The main module in this project is login, automobile management, customer management, sales, complaints and reports. The first module is the login. The automobile showroom owner should login to the project for usage. The username and password are verified and if it is correct, next form opens. If the username and password are not correct, it shows the error message.
When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.

Sachpazis:Terzaghi Bearing Capacity Estimation in simple terms with Calculati...Dr.Costas Sachpazis
Terzaghi's soil bearing capacity theory, developed by Karl Terzaghi, is a fundamental principle in geotechnical engineering used to determine the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. This theory provides a method to calculate the ultimate bearing capacity of soil, which is the maximum load per unit area that the soil can support without undergoing shear failure. The Calculation HTML Code included.
Vaccine management system project report documentation..pdfKamal Acharya
The Division of Vaccine and Immunization is facing increasing difficulty monitoring vaccines and other commodities distribution once they have been distributed from the national stores. With the introduction of new vaccines, more challenges have been anticipated with this additions posing serious threat to the already over strained vaccine supply chain system in Kenya.
Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

3. INTRODUCTION
Development of a country depends on the connectivity of various
place with adequate road network.
Roads constitute the most important made of communication in areas
where railways have not developed much.
India has one of the largest roads network in world ( over 3 million
km at present).
For the purpose of management and administration , road in India are
divided into the following categories :
I. National Highways (NH)
II. State Highways (SH)
III. Major District Roads (MDR)
IV. Other District Roads (ODR)
V. Village roads (VR)
4. Project Detail
S. NO PROJECT DETAILS DESCRIPTION
1. Project Name Fazilnagar road to kushinagar (NH-28)
2. Site Location kushinagar link road (NH28)
3. Area conveyed by project 8 km
4. Road type Village road
5. Road Width 3.75 meter (signal lane )
5. Road
Roads are defined as routes or path begin at one destination and lead
to another.
Road is an open , generally public way for the passage of vehicles,
people, and animals.
6. Earth work
The sub – grade soil is prepared by bringing it to desire grad.
Soil filing
Spreading and Levelling
compaction
7. PAVEMENTS
Pavement is finished with a hard smooth surface. It helped make them
durable and able to withstand traffic and environment. They have a life
span between 20-30year.
Types of pavement
a) Flexible pavement
b) Rigid pavement
8. Flexible pavement
Flexible pavements are those
which are surface with
bituminous or asphalt
materials. it’s flexible since
the total pavement structure
bends or deflects due to the
traffic loads. Generally this
type of pavement requires
some sort of maintenance or
restoration every 10 to 15
years.
9. Rigid pavement
A rigid pavement structure
is composed of a hydraulic
cement concrete surface
course and concealed base
and sub base courses. The
surface course is the rigid
layer and provides the
majority of strength.
10. Types of roads
a) Earth road and gavel road b) Water bound macadam (WBM)
13. c) Kerb
• A line of stone or concrete
forming an edge between a
pavement and a roadway, so that
the pavement is some 15 cm
above the level of the road.
d) Shoulder
• It is the side of the road.
Sometimes it is paved. Sometimes
it is gravel. Sometimes it is dirt
or grass.
