Rizal and Viola traveled through Germany and other parts of Europe, making stops in many famous cities. They visited Berlin, Leitmeritz, Prague, Vienna, Munich, Nuremberg, Ulm, Stuttgart, Baden, Schaffhausen, Geneva, Turin, Milan, Venice, Florence, and Rome, seeing important landmarks and cultural sites. In each city they met with local scholars and experts who showed them areas of historical and scientific significance. The trip provided Rizal an educational tour of regions that had influenced his studies.
