This document provides an overview of Salesforce's Duplicate Management feature. It allows users to control whether duplicate records can be created, customize the logic for identifying duplicates, and generate reports on allowed duplicates. Duplicate rules and matching rules are used to detect duplicates and provide guidance to users if they attempt to save a possible duplicate. Duplicate
management
is
available
for
accounts,
contacts,
leads,
and
custom
objects.
All
other
objects,
including
OpportuniDes
and
Person
Accounts,
are
not
currently
supported.
Duplicate
rules
don’t
run
when
records
are
created
in
following
ways:
When
records
are
created
using
Quick
Create.
When
leads
are
converted
to
accounts
or
contacts
and
your
organizaDon
doesn’t
have
the
“Use
Apex
Lead
Convert”
permission.
When
a
record
is
restored
with
the
Undelete
buYon.
When
records
are
manually
merged.
If
you
deacDvate
or
remove
a
field
on
an
object,
it
may
cause
matching
rules
with
mappings
to
this
field
to
be
ignored.
This
could
affect
your
duplicate
detecDon

customizable
alert
text
in

rules

supported

the

Rules
To
control
whether
and
when
users
can
save
duplicate
records
within
Salesforce,
create
a
duplicate
rule
and
associate
a
matching
rule
to
it.
Matching
Rules
Matching
rules
are
used
to
determine
how
two
records
are
compared
and
idenDfied
as
duplicates
Duplicate
Record
Sets
If
your
organizaDon
uses
the
report
acDon
with
its
duplicate
rules,
you
can
quickly
see
a
list
of
duplicate
records,
grouped
into
duplicate
sets,
by
clicking
the
Duplicate
Record
Sets
tab.
Duplicate
Error
Logs
If
your
organizaDon
uses
Data.com
Duplicate
Management,
you
can
view
any
system
errors
that
prevent
the
duplicate
rules
or
matching
rules
from
running
successfully.

Management

duplicate
rules
and
your
users
try
to
save
a
record
that’s
idenDfied
as
a
