Risk Assessment- Take 2
1. Location Possible Hazards Risk Rating(High,
Medium, Low)
Controls
Ongar Skate Park The skate park can
get busy with skaters
at times, due to the
fact that this is the
nearest local skate
park for teenagers to
go to. Another
possible hazard is
the actress of our
music video and
members of the
group may fall when
trying to get up and
down the ramps.
This is a fairly low
risk as all we have to
be careful of is
people getting in the
way of shots, and us
getting in the way of
the skate boarders
with our camera
equipment. The
ramp is of a medium
rating as the main
actress and the rest
of the group have
the potential of
falling when trying
to get the correct
shots we want for
the feel of our music
video. Especially low
and high angles.
As a group we would
just have to be
aware of our
surroundings, and
what can be seen in
the background of
the shots. This is
because the main
narrative of our
music video is our
protagonist being
alone due to the
death of her sister.
So distractions in the
background would
take away from this.
A control of falling
on the ramps is
wearing the correct
footwear so that we
do not slip.
2. Location Possible Hazards Risk Rating (High,
Medium, Low)
Controls
St Peters Church,
Brentwood
There a higher risk of trip
hazards due to the old
age of the church, this
means there is a lot of
loose pavements and
slabs to trip over. Another
hazard similar to the first
church we wanted to go
to is the position of the
church. This is because for
the shot we aim to film is
of the cross situated at
the top of the church.
Therfore we had to scrap
the location of the Church
in Ongar, which was
conveniently situated
near the skate park.
However unusable for us
a group.
The risk of tripping is of a
medium rating as it has
the potential of hurting
one of the group
members or damaging
the camera equipment
we are using to film the
music video with. These
items include iPhones.
The reference to the
positon of the church is of
an extreme low rating as
it is something we cannot
particularly avoid and it
has no real effect on the
group personally just the
result of the end of our
final finished project.
Similar to the first
location, as a group we
just need to be careful
when going onto the
location. We would also
reduce the risk of slipping
by wearing suitable
footwear such as trainers,
just to prevent the
likelihood of this
happening.
3. Location Possible Hazards Risk Rating (Low,
Medium, High)
Controls
Field/Woods area,
Pilgrims Hatch
Yet again trip
hazards such as
branches, wood
and camera
equipment.
Including anything
else that may cause
an obstruction in
the way of the
group members.
We plan to film
later in the day so
that the lighting
adds to the overall
sombre mood of
our music video.
Medium Risk
Rating, as it is
something we can
avoid as a group if
we are aware of
our surroundings
and what is in front
of us. The other
thing we should
also be aware of is
the likelihood of
dog walkers, and
we should be
respectful that
filming may be
distracting for
them.
Preventive
measures of this
happening includes
making sure the
camera equipment
is pointed out to all
members of the
group so they are
aware of their
footing whilst
filming. Anything
that isn’t needed in
that moment will
be stacked away to
the side until
necessary.
4. Location Possible Hazards Risk Rating (Low,
Medium, High)
Controls
Home location The use of lighting.
Our aim is to shoot
some lip synching
scenes in the
bedroom but with
darker lighting. This
is so that when it
comes to the
editing process it
will be easier to put
the main focus on
the actresses face,
blurring the
background.
This risk is of a low
rating as it does not
have an effect on
the members of
the group. Instead
only on the quality
of the music video
we wish to create.
The lighting is also
something we
could alter in
editing process so
that it would not
look as harsh and
bright on screen.
This would be a
simple fix by timing
our shoot of filming
perfectly. If we are
able to delay
filming towards
later in the day
then we would not
need to change the
gradient as much in
the editing process.
However there is
two other possible
rooms we could
use within the
house, so we will
be able to see
which works best.
