This document identifies and assesses various risks associated with filming a movie project. As the director, the author is responsible for most of the risks. Some of the key risks addressed include actor issues, weather, equipment malfunctions, props and costumes, lighting conditions, location safety, hazards on set, public interference, traffic noise, electrical issues, software crashes, health and safety, sticking to conventions while allowing creativity, and working within a limited budget. Strategies are provided for overcoming or preventing each of the risks.

As Director I am responsible for the majority of these risks, however it is important to remember that general health and safety rules
and “common sense” should be adhered to at all times.

fully charged the camera before I
take it out, I will also have to take two
different memory cards encase one
of them is full or decides not to work.

I will mostly just have to make sure
that the camera works because every
other piec e of isn’t being work ed, as
long as they look like they work then
we should be okay.
Low battery All Me (Writer Producer Director)
The camera will be charged the night
before each shoot so that it is full
charged for when we want to record.
I will also try and charge it on location
as much as we can.

2. Not getting props / costumes on time All Me (Writer Producer Director)
I will have to make sure I go
shopping before the recording date to
get all of the props.

I will have to make sure the actors
are in an environment that they are
happy with working in and don’t get
embarrassed so that the
performance can be as best as they
can.
Lighting All Me / Unavoidable
Although most of the lighting will not
be down to me I can use torches or
different angles to use the light to my
advantage.

As I am doing my recording in a
public arena I will have to clear
anything thing out of the way so that
no one trips over and gets injured. I
will also have to make sure we don’t
record on the road so that there
aren’t any accidents while recordi ng
or acting.
Trip hazards Class room and Outside Me (Writer Producer Director)
Again before recording I will have to
clear the area so that the actors or
cameramen wont fall over while
recording. I will also have to clean up
the studio while editing so that no
one falls over and destroy the
computers
Public interference Outside Me (Writer Producer Director)
Because my outdoor shooting
locations are in busy public areas,
there may be times when the public
interference and that could be a bit
awkward or troublesome. To combat
this I will have to record most of the
parts of the movie when people

3. aren’t around because this could put
people off and we could get heckled.

Hartlepool is pretty busy in terms of
traffic so we will have to record when
there are very little cars around so
that the sounds of the cars don’t
drown out the movie audio.
Electricals Studios
Before editing the movie I will have to
make sure that the college has power
so that we are able to edit the video.
If we file to do this I will have to edit
the video in my house.
Software Post-production Editing Suite Me / Unavoidable
The software used for post-production
(Final Cut) might crash
when editing if this happens I may
lose of my editing.

It is important than general health
and safety and common sense is
used at all times so that no one gets
hurts or any accidents happen.

It is important to maintain a balance
between following conventions and
being creative. I have created a script
that I would like people to stick to but
I am will to allow some creativity in
the responses.

The budget for my video will be very
low so I will have to get props that
don’t cost a lot. Most of the props we
could probably get at hole just lying
around.
