Ringo Starr, born Richard Starkey, was the drummer for the Beatles. He grew up poor in Liverpool, England and had many health issues as a child that disrupted his education. He took up drumming as a teenager and joined several bands. The Beatles recruited him as their drummer in 1962, replacing Pete Best. As one of the Beatles, Ringo contributed to many hit songs and albums. After the band broke up in 1970, Ringo pursued a solo career in music and television. He has been married twice and has three children from his first marriage. Ringo continues to perform and record music today.
