Worker Rights
 Definition:
Workers' rights are a group of legal rights according to
Bangladesh labor law .
 Example :
Some kinds of rights like relations between workers and employers,
determination of minimum rates of wages, payment of wages,
benefits, compensation for injuries to workers during working hours,
formation of trade unions, raising and settlement of industrial
disputes, health, safety, welfare and safe working conditions and

1. The rights of freedom of association and collective bargaining.
Definition of freedom association
and collective bargaining
 Freedom Of Association: It is the
right of worker to be able to come
together, to form or join informal or
formal groups, for the purpose of
collective action.
 Collective Bargaining: Collective
Bargaining is the negotiation between
representatives of management and
workers to produce a written
agreement covering terms and
conditions of employment.

WPC
WPC should be elected not selected.
The tenure is two years.
WPC members should be wear dress regularly.

workers.

5. Working hours and leave
Daily Working Hours
 Section-100: No adult worker shall
ordinarily be required or allowed
to work in an establishment for
more than 8 hours in any day.
 Provided that, any such worker
may work in an establishment not
exceeding 10 hours in any day.
Weekly working hours
 Section 102: Adult workers shall
ordinarily be required or allowed
to work in an establishment for
more than 48 hours in any week.
 Provided that, the total hours of
work of an adult worker shall not
exceed 60 hours in any week and
on the average 56 hours per week
in any year.
5. Working hours and leave
Extra Allowance For Over Time
 Section 108: When a worker
works in an establishment
for more then the
prescribed hours in any day
or week, in that case he/she
shall get OT at the rate of
twice of average of his basic
wages.
Restriction on working hours of women
 Section 109: No women
shall without her consent
be allowed to work in an
establishment in between
10 PM and 6 AM.

Casual Leave
 Section 115: Every worker shall
be entitled to casual Leave with
full wages for 10 days in a
calendar year. It will not be
accumulated and carried
forward to the succeeding year.
Sick Leave
 Section 116: Every worker shall
be entitled to sick leave with full
wages for a total period of 14
days in a year. It will not be
accumulated and carried
forward to the succeeding year.
Employee Leave
Festival Holidays
 Section 118: Every worker
shall be allowed 11 days
festival holidays with full
wages in a year.
Annual Leave
 Section 117: Every adult
worker who has completed a
period of one year continuous
service in the establishment
shall be allowed leave & it is
calculated at the rate of 01 day
for every 18 days of work.
Employee Leave
Maternity welfare facilities
Note: No woman worker shall be entitled to such benefits if she has
at the time of delivery two or more children alive.
 Section 45, 46 : Employers are liable to
provide maternity benefits to the employee
who has completed at least 6 months of
service with the employer by the date of
confinement.
 Every woman employed in any establishment
shall be entitled to the payment of maternity
benefits:
08 weeks ( 2 month) preceding the
tentative date of her delivery.
08 weeks ( 2 month) immediately
following the said of her delivery.
Workers Responsibilities
A worker in her workplace must take reasonable care for their own
health and safety, take reasonable care of others, comply with any
reasonable instructions, policies and procedure given
by their employer, business or controller of the workplace.
What we mean by worker’s responsibilities in a factory
Your Safety is Your Responsibility
What types of Responsibilities you should have
 Wearing, maintaining and properly storing your personal protective
equipment (PPE).
 To fulfill the target of your daily production.
 Knowing evacuation procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
 Immediately notify your supervisor of any damaged equipment, hazardous
conditions or unsafe behavior.
 To keep neat and clean working place and keep free the aisles mark in your
floor.
 To attend all types of training which provided by your factory.
What types of Responsibilities you should have
 Always try to follow your supervisor’s instructions
 Report injuries and unsafe and unhealthy situations to your supervisor.
 Becoming familiar with material safety data sheets(MSDS) of all chemical
containers.
By getting involved and speaking up, you’ll gain confidence, leadership skills and a
sense of ownership that will help you identify job hazards and take the appropriate
precautions to protect yourself and others. That’s being responsible at work.
Effective Communication Skills
 Definition:
Communication is the art and process of creating and sharing
ideas. It is the process of transmitting information and common
understanding from one person to another.
 Why do workers need to communicate ?
 It increases productivity and operates smoothly.
 It enables to respond for safety issues quickly before accidents
happen by creating workers co-operation.
 It can increase workers job satisfaction.
 It has a positive effect on absenteeism and turnover rates.
Effective Communication Skills
 How do workers generally communicate amongst each other co – workers ?
There are some ways to communicate with co-workers.
 Don't blame others
 Be an exceptional listener
 Don’t complain to the supervisor against the co-workers
 Sharing the ideas with the co-workers about work
experience for learning better
 How do they communicate with their supervisors ?
There are some important aspects to remember when communicating with supervisor:
 Follow instructions by the supervisors.
 Inform any problems and results of your work to supervisor.
 Accurately record and give messages to supervisor.

responsibilities in working place

production.
2. Supervisor is the bridge between
worker and management .
3. Supervisor has the responsibility
for the production.
4. Supervisor will be responsible to
the management.

1. Worker helps supervisor to do these
jobs.

for the production.
3. Workers has the responsibility to fulfill their
target.
4. Workers will be responsible to the
supervisors.

Worker Rights  Definition: Workers' rights are a group of legal rights according to Bangladesh labor law .  Example : Some kinds of rights like relations between workers and employers, determination of minimum rates of wages, payment of wages, benefits, compensation for injuries to workers during working hours, formation of trade unions, raising and settlement of industrial disputes, health, safety, welfare and safe working conditions and

  • 7. 1. The rights of freedom of association and collective bargaining. Definition of freedom association and collective bargaining  Freedom Of Association: It is the right of worker to be able to come together, to form or join informal or formal groups, for the purpose of collective action.  Collective Bargaining: Collective Bargaining is the negotiation between representatives of management and workers to produce a written agreement covering terms and conditions of employment. Channels of Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining  Worker’s Participation Committee ( WPC)  Trade Union.  Health and safety committee  First aider team  Fire fighter team  Grievance mechanism in the factory.

  • 9. Worker’s Participation Committee ( WPC) WPC WPC should be elected not selected. The tenure is two years. WPC members should be wear dress regularly.
  • 10. 2. No Discrimination Definition • Discrimination refers that there is no discrimination in remuneration, access to training, promotion, termination among the workers. Types of Discrimination in the factory  Illegal deductions from wages.  Long working hours  Hold the wages  Religion  Gender  Family affairs  Promotion/ Increment  Fairness  Pregnancy test upon the recruitment.

  • 14. 5. Working hours and leave Daily Working Hours  Section-100: No adult worker shall ordinarily be required or allowed to work in an establishment for more than 8 hours in any day.  Provided that, any such worker may work in an establishment not exceeding 10 hours in any day. Weekly working hours  Section 102: Adult workers shall ordinarily be required or allowed to work in an establishment for more than 48 hours in any week.  Provided that, the total hours of work of an adult worker shall not exceed 60 hours in any week and on the average 56 hours per week in any year.
  • 15. 5. Working hours and leave Extra Allowance For Over Time  Section 108: When a worker works in an establishment for more then the prescribed hours in any day or week, in that case he/she shall get OT at the rate of twice of average of his basic wages. Restriction on working hours of women  Section 109: No women shall without her consent be allowed to work in an establishment in between 10 PM and 6 AM.
  • 16. Employee Leave Types  Casual Leave  Sick Leave  Festival Leave  Annual Leave  Maternity Leave
  • 17. Employee Leave Casual Leave  Section 115: Every worker shall be entitled to casual Leave with full wages for 10 days in a calendar year. It will not be accumulated and carried forward to the succeeding year. Sick Leave  Section 116: Every worker shall be entitled to sick leave with full wages for a total period of 14 days in a year. It will not be accumulated and carried forward to the succeeding year.
  • 18. Employee Leave Festival Holidays  Section 118: Every worker shall be allowed 11 days festival holidays with full wages in a year. Annual Leave  Section 117: Every adult worker who has completed a period of one year continuous service in the establishment shall be allowed leave & it is calculated at the rate of 01 day for every 18 days of work.
  • 19. Employee Leave Maternity welfare facilities Note: No woman worker shall be entitled to such benefits if she has at the time of delivery two or more children alive.  Section 45, 46 : Employers are liable to provide maternity benefits to the employee who has completed at least 6 months of service with the employer by the date of confinement.  Every woman employed in any establishment shall be entitled to the payment of maternity benefits: 08 weeks ( 2 month) preceding the tentative date of her delivery. 08 weeks ( 2 month) immediately following the said of her delivery.
  • 20. Workers Responsibilities A worker in her workplace must take reasonable care for their own health and safety, take reasonable care of others, comply with any reasonable instructions, policies and procedure given by their employer, business or controller of the workplace. What we mean by worker’s responsibilities in a factory Your Safety is Your Responsibility
  • 21. What types of Responsibilities you should have  Wearing, maintaining and properly storing your personal protective equipment (PPE).  To fulfill the target of your daily production.  Knowing evacuation procedures and the location of emergency equipment.  Immediately notify your supervisor of any damaged equipment, hazardous conditions or unsafe behavior.  To keep neat and clean working place and keep free the aisles mark in your floor.  To attend all types of training which provided by your factory.
  • 22. What types of Responsibilities you should have  Always try to follow your supervisor’s instructions  Report injuries and unsafe and unhealthy situations to your supervisor.  Becoming familiar with material safety data sheets(MSDS) of all chemical containers. By getting involved and speaking up, you’ll gain confidence, leadership skills and a sense of ownership that will help you identify job hazards and take the appropriate precautions to protect yourself and others. That’s being responsible at work.
  • 23. Effective Communication Skills  Definition: Communication is the art and process of creating and sharing ideas. It is the process of transmitting information and common understanding from one person to another.  Why do workers need to communicate ?  It increases productivity and operates smoothly.  It enables to respond for safety issues quickly before accidents happen by creating workers co-operation.  It can increase workers job satisfaction.  It has a positive effect on absenteeism and turnover rates.
  • 24. Effective Communication Skills  How do workers generally communicate amongst each other co – workers ? There are some ways to communicate with co-workers.  Don't blame others  Be an exceptional listener  Don’t complain to the supervisor against the co-workers  Sharing the ideas with the co-workers about work experience for learning better  How do they communicate with their supervisors ? There are some important aspects to remember when communicating with supervisor:  Follow instructions by the supervisors.  Inform any problems and results of your work to supervisor.  Accurately record and give messages to supervisor.

  • 27. What is the difference between a Worker and a Supervisor. Supervisor 1. Supervisor’s have some responsibilities in working place like, Line balancing, Time to reach target, Injury rate, Reject rate for production. 2. Supervisor is the bridge between worker and management . 3. Supervisor has the responsibility for the production. 4. Supervisor will be responsible to the management. Worker 1. Worker helps supervisor to do these jobs. 2.Worker is the one of the main components for the production. 3. Workers has the responsibility to fulfill their target. 4. Workers will be responsible to the supervisors.
