Architecting Multitenant SaaS Applications with Azure - Microsoft Ignite The ...Eran Stiller
Multitenancy is a software architecture pattern in which a single instance of software serves multiple groups of users (known as tenants or organizations). Many modern SaaS applications use this pattern to serve their customers with maximum efficiency while maintaining operational costs low. But how do you build a multitenant application right? How do you secure one tenant's information from another tenant's users? How do you keep operational costs low? How do you monitor and manage this stuff?
In this session you will gain architecture practices for architecting multitenant SaaS applications, learnt from migrating real applications to the cloud so that you won't have to learn them the hard way, with implementation tips and tricks on Azure.

Serverless technologies like AWS Lambda has drastically simplified the task of building reactive systems - drop a file into S3 and a Lambda function would be triggered to process it, push an event into a Kinesis stream and magically it'll be processed by a Lambda function in real-time, you can even use Lambda to automate the process of auditing and securing your AWS account by automatically reacting to rule violations to your security policy.
Join us in this talk to see some architectural design patterns that have emerged with AWS Lambda, and learn how to pick the right event source based on the tradeoffs you want. Amongst the many patterns we'll explore, here are a few to whet your appetite : pub-sub, cron, push-pull, saga and decoupled invocation.

Node: The Integration Fabric of the FutureAlbert Tsang
Despite the mass adoption of standards such as REST, the need for integration has continued to grow exponentially with explosive growth driven by mobile, SaaS, and now IoT. Integration requires holistic capabilities including flexible scripting, and being able work with disparate data sources and services. NodeJS provides these capabilities not only with a highly concurrent event driven model through its asynchronous roots but speed of development by JavaScript as a dynamic language. NodeJS not only addresses the convergence needs but is also a key driver shaping the change toward full stack solutions needed by the omnichannel devices of tomorrow.

Building Real-Time Serverless Data Applications With Joseph Morais and Adam Wagner | Current 2022
Enterprises that are trying to accelerate development times for their digital native applications are defaulting to serverless architectures. And for good reasons too. With self-serve provisioning, elastic scaling, lower TCO, and industry standard security features, it makes it easy for developers to spend more time building and less time managing.
Join this session to see first hand how developers are pairing Confluent's cloud native, serverless Apache Kafka offering with AWS's serverless services to build data apps and platform that scale.
The most important part of VR interaction is the person doing the interacting. Human-centered interaction design focuses on the human side of communication between user and machine: the interface from the user’s perspective. Focusing on users is more important for VR than for any other medium. When VR is done well, interactions can be brilliant and pleasurable, but when done badly, they can result in frustration, fatigue, and sickness. Many causes of bad VR are centered on a lack of understanding of human perception, intuitive interaction, design principles, and real users. Quality interactions enhance user understanding of what has just occurred, what is happening, what can be done, and how to do it. For optimal VR experiences, goals and needs must be efficiently achieved, and the experiences must be engaging and enjoyable.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Let's dive deeper into the world of ODC! Ricardo Alves (OutSystems) will join us to tell all about the new Data Fabric. After that, Sezen de Bruijn (OutSystems) will get into the details on how to best design a sturdy architecture within ODC.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
