- A survey of 215 year 11 students found that nearly all had internet access at home, with most having broadband access. About half owned their own computer or laptop. - Most students said they would use or were already using the revision Gateway regularly, and found it an easier way to access revision resources than the public drive. - Students wanted space on the Gateway to add their own revision resources and see gateways from all subjects. They also wanted more opportunities for interactivity and teacher feedback. - Analysis of 228 students' Gateway usage in the first 60 days found that boys performing around grade C/D used the Gateway most heavily on average, viewing over 500 pages each.

Learning Everywhere - The hype vs the reality in the NHS

Background
Research from Jisc, the EU and House of Lords all point to the growing need for digital skills in staff and students.
Covid-19 has intensified the focus on these skills as learning went mostly online from March 2020.
The particular focus of this research is on a) how students access learning materials and b) students’ digital
wellbeing.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to set out the findings and analysis from the questionnaire responses that have been
received to date. It is therefore an interim report.
Methodology
The questionnaire, which can be seen in Appendix 1 was created and approved for use by the BU Ethics Committee.
The questionnaire uses radio button, free-test fields and Likert-type questions.
The confidence levels use the following scale:
1. Unaware. You have not heard of the technology.
2. Aware. You are aware of the technology but have not used it.
3. Practiced. You have a working knowledge of the technology and can use it but usually need help.
4. Competent. You can use the technology and have detailed knowledge.
5. Expert. You are recognised as an expert by fellow students.
The other Likert-type questions use more standard options:
Frequency is expressed using the scale: Never/very rarely; rarely; occasionally; frequently; always/very
frequently.
Difficulty is expressed using the scale: Very difficult; difficult; neither easy nor difficult; easy; very easy; N/A.
Agreement is expressed using the scale: Strongly disagree; disagree; neither agree nor disagree; agree;
strongly agree.
Only the minimum data needed to identify the respondent’s level of study and department was mandatory. All other
questions were optional.
The data was analysed and presented using r.
Full BU ethics was obtained to collect and disseminate the data.
Student digital wellbeing survey interim results - August 2021
The interim findings of a survey of 92 students in Higher Education on the subject of digital wellbeing. The survey asks about confidence in using learning resources, internet access, accessing study materials online, how much control students should have over the technology they use and whether institutions are doing enough to support students.

Gerene Denning, of the University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine, presented this at CPSC’s ATV Safety Summit Oct. 11, 2012. The study objective was to determine the effectiveness of an in-classroom ATV safety education program that targets younger adolescents and highlights the 10 STARs --Safety Tips for ATV Riders. Methods: An audience response system was utilized to obtain data before and after the educational sessions. A one year follow-up written survey was administered. Results: About 2000 students in thirteen Iowa schools received the ATV safety program; 10 schools participated in the follow-up study. On the three knowledge questions, pre-intervention correct scores were 52%, 27% and 46% which rose to 93%, 80% and 79% on post-exam, respectively. Immediately after the program, 44% said they were likely or very likely to use the ATV safety tips, while 36% said they were unlikely or very unlikely to do so. One-year follow-up knowledge question scores were 77%, 45% and 58%. Lower percentages of students reported having ridden on an ATV with passengers or on a public road in the year following the education program. There were no differences in helmet use. Conclusion: Although it's unclear if ATV safety behavior definitely improved, the classroom educational intervention was able to increase short and long term safety knowledge. Repeated interventions may improve both knowledge retention and safety behaviors.Making Learning Mobile

Questionnaires were distributed to 94 staff and students to collect primary data on usage of tools like Webmail, GLPI, TELNET, and SQL. The findings showed 56% of users spent 1 hour daily in the library, with students spending more time than staff. Webmail and GLPI were frequently used by staff, but students were less aware and frequent users. TELNET and SQL were rarely or not used. SharePoint 2010 as an effective Learning Gateway
The document describes the stages in the development of Twynham School's Learning Gateway platform built using SharePoint from 2007 to 2010. It started with SharePoint 2003 on premise with basic links and early adoption of student and teacher sites. Over time, they engaged teachers with training, gave them ownership of content, and removed barriers. They expanded use to include a Parent Gateway, online systems for student options and mentoring, and rebuilt their website on SharePoint. Analytics were added to provide subject, class, and student-level usage data. Studies found that using WebPA led to higher quality work from students and improved team dynamics and learning experiences. SharePoint 2010 as an effective Learning Gateway

- Twynham School deployed Windows 7 to student workstations and laptops ahead of the official release using the RC version to setup Group Policies.
- They used Ghost for deployment due to time constraints rather than WDS or SCCM. The deployment was successful with profiles removed and better printer deployment.
- There were some initial teething problems but the students adapted well. Group policy preferences offer benefits for the future. However, a 3rd party software solution caused issues when deployed through group policy.
- Tips included not being the first to deploy, testing login speeds, and deploying the RC cautiously as it carries risks. Lessons would be shared to help others learn from mistakes.
The SharePoint Survival Kit
This document provides instructions for basic features in SharePoint including adding announcements, single documents, multiple documents, editing documents, deleting documents, and searching. Key steps include clicking "add new announcement" to add a notice, browsing and selecting files to upload single or multiple documents, opening the document library in Windows Explorer to bulk add files, editing documents by clicking the title then "edit", and deleting documents by clicking next to rather than on the document.

Twynham School has implemented a learning platform to raise student achievement. The platform provides students with 24/7 access to information, guidance, and revision materials from any location. It also facilitates collaboration between students, teachers, and parents. Research shows parental engagement is a key factor in student success, so the platform includes a parent portal that provides updates on students' progress and opportunities for parents to become involved in their child's learning. The platform has been well-received by students and parents and allows the school to customize content to best support learning.
Year 11 Revision Seminars April 2008
Most students preferred revision seminars to be held during periods 1-4 with period 5 being optional. The vast majority wanted the seminars to help them learn both knowledge and exam techniques. Over 80% wanted input into the topics studied and most preferred working in pairs or small groups rather than individually or as a whole class. Over 70% thought homework should be stopped during seminars and over 90% were interested in optional or compulsory top-up seminars before exams after half term. Close to 90% thought non-uniform should be allowed for at least seminars.
