World Retail Banking Report 2015 from Capgemini and EfmaCapgemini
The 12th annual World Retail Banking Report by Capgemini and Efma finds the bank-customer relationship is weakening. Stagnating global customer experience levels combined with an alarming increase in customers willing to leave their banks has increased the chance of customers using non-bank competitors such as brand-name retailers, FinTech firms, crowd-funding websites, peer-to-peer lenders, Internet/mobile service providers, and Apple NFC-based payment systems. The report findings underscore the need for retail banks to make investments to improve customer experience, especially in middle and back offices which have historically been ignored and are essential to providing engaging digital services through faster processing times and reduction in errors.
Innovation is a very widely used term which can apply to any aspect of the business.
This report takes a high level and strategic view of the issue and does not focus on one
specific type of innovation, or one area of activity. Innovation in operations is just as
important as innovation in marketing. We look at the issue of strategic versus
incremental innovation, and the importance of innovation for both growth and efficiency.
We also assess the barriers to innovation, what actions banks are taking to increase
their level of innovation, and recommend areas where we feel they could improve.

Creating a Digital Banking Strategy - 01.23.15Calvin Turner
Today, the new buzzword in business is “Digital Strategy”. The problem, however, is that if you ask a group of business professionals to define "Digital Strategy" to you, depending on the industry, who you ask, and the ages of the respondents (yes, the generational perspective makes a difference), you will likely get a wide variety of different responses to that simple question. To illustrate this point, in a December 2014, Digital Banking research study published by Celent, when banking executives were asked what “Digital” means for them, they responded with a diverse – and sometimes inconsistent – set of answers. But invariably, mobile devices and social media are usually included somewhere in the answer. So, let's begin the discussion by clearing up a common misconception: an organization's Digital Strategy is NOT enabling/allowing customers to use mobile devices to communicate and conduct business. They are certainly components of a Digital Strategy, but the true definition of a Digital Strategy is much broader than that.
Traditional PFM Is Dead. Welcome to the New World of Digital Money ManagementMX
There is a fundamental shift occurring due to digital disruption in the financial services industry. Large banks are spending upwards of $500 million a year on mobile alone, global fintech investment grew 201% between 2013 and 2014 and up to half of the world’s banks will disappear through the cracks caused by digital.
Accenture believes with all of these changes, combined with deleveraging and squeezed margins, 30 percent of traditional banking revenues will be at risk by 2020. Now the only way for financial institutions to grow is to increase share of wallet by providing extraordinary value to customers and beating the competition.

With the best of intentions, banks often assume what customers want, push the wrong products and services, work in siloes and generalize. Banks tend to forget that their customers are human beings that evolve and so do their needs. Not everyone makes the same choice, so banks need to reflect this in their product offerings.
For banks to differentiate themselves and move forward, they need to allow customers and Relationship Managers to dynamically bundle products and services based on the customer’s preferences. The more you bank with me, the more value we will provide in return.
Under a Product and Pricing Lifecycle Management (PPLM) model, create suitable products and product bundles based on customer or other data across lines of business and business units.

Digital Banking Strategy Roadmap - 3.24.15Calvin Turner
The Digital delivery of banking products and services is already a reality.
Like it or not, your customers will compare their digital banking experience to shopping on Amazon, iTunes, eBay, Southwest Air, etc., and to their digital experiences with large banks that already have robust digital banking offerings.
Traditional banks can’t just push out mobile apps and capabilities to customers and call it a digital banking strategy. Customers expect a seamless integration of the entire online banking experience from initiation to fulfillment. If they are forced to drop off somewhere along the digital experience to print documents, call a representative, and/or visit a branch, you have lost the customer.

World Retail Banking Report 2014 from Capgemini and EfmaCapgemini
The bank of the future is shaping up to be a balanced network of distribution channels serving the diverse and changing needs of global retail banking customers. The Capgemini and Efma 2014 World Retail Banking Report, based on the proprietary Voice of the Customer survey and Customer Experience Index measurement system, reveals detailed analysis into the behaviors and preferences of retail banking customers, assesses retail banks’ performance in meeting customer expectations and provides an in-depth look at how banks are incorporating social media into their retail delivery strategies.
In an age of consumer choice, anything that hints of hurting the account holder is a big mistake. If consumers think that you’re out to get them, you’ll lose their loyalty (and the revenue they bring). As proof, we surveyed 504 random US consumers about their banking experiences and found several data points that support the idea that advocacy is critically important. We put those stats — as well as quotes from industry analysts — in this presentation.

Small Business Banking Segment StrategyCalvin Turner
Most banks believe they are committed to servicing Small Business customers. They develop products and services for this segment; they invest considerable amounts of time and money trying to improve their Small Business Bankers’ business development (i.e., sales) skills; and some may even create a line of business within the bank entitled “Business Banking” or “Small Business Banking.” But most of these efforts fail to produce the desired growth objectives because banks don’t really understand the needs of the small business customer
Top-10 Technology Trends in Retail Banking: 2018Capgemini
The proliferation of technology and entry of new players such as FinTechs continues to disrupt the retail banking industry. Augmenting customer experience has been the need of the hour as customers increasingly adopt digital products and services. In pursuit of more nimble processes and innovative approaches, traditional retail banks are enthusiastically investing in digital transformation and FinTech collaboration. With banks under pressure to boost revenues and reduce costs, while delivering better customer experience, they have been investing in emerging technologies such as blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital IDs. Moreover, banks are automating their processes and increasingly migrating their infrastructure and applications to the cloud to create a seamless customer journey. Many regulations and open-banking initiatives are emerging across the globe aimed at fostering innovation. To stay competitive, banks must remain cognizant of numerous implications from within and from outside the financial services industry. This report explores and analyzes the most high-impact tech trends expected to drive future retail banking ecosystem dynamics.

Today's customers are fundamentally different from customers of past years as they are harder to acquire, retain, and delight because of the explosion in digital technologies consumers use day to day. New digital experiences are forcing banks to play catch-up and match the innovative and engaging interactions and products — such as mobile payments — that non-banks are offering to those same customers. This IDC research, sponsored by TCS Digital Software & Solutions Group, revealed three key themes for digital transformation in the banking industry.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
