 Facilities Systems Cost Reduction: Measured house exhaust systems, including exhaust, process cooling water, and DI
water, to see if baseline was maintained. Often found tools improperly adjusted, causing severe facilities costs.
Balanced system periodically and found thousands of dollars of savings.
 Particle Reduction Plans: Analyzed issues with poly and nitride CVD furnaces having PIDS, proving some were
incoming wafer quality issue and new quartz was leading to particle issues about 40% of time. Installed wafer monitor
plan and enacted specification to only run etched quartz on poly and nitride furnaces.
 Showerhead Hot Wipes on Novellus C1s: Completed hot wipes of showerheads and heater block sandings every 30
TEOS/Silane hours per OEM’s suggestions and to improve water uniformity. Moved clocks up 10 to 30 hours at time
until tools ran 250 TEOS/Silane hours with standard wet cleans. Saved more than 15 hours per week per tool and
extended showerhead life for cost savings of thousands per year.
 Gas Line Creativity: Installed bulk HCL/TCS system at Fairchild needed to run lines to 30 tools. Asked contractor for
credit of $80,000. Met with contractor and asked for line credit. Asked contractor to provide gas line credit for
amount for management. Ran 28 of tools of gas line credit agreement. Obtained $500,000 worth of gas line runs done
for what was going for $80,000.
 Safety First: Provided safety suggestions and implemented and designed safety devices to save injuries and money
on the job. Purchased older Lam/dlam tool set manufactured over 20 years. Painted machines to increase
appearance and to design safety covers and interlocks to make tools safe to work on.

to ensure completion of job prior to drawings and specifications. Calculated facilities’ demands for each tool and designed
proper line sizes for exhaust and gases, as well as electrical requirements. Installed $5,000,000 Bulk TCS (40,000 LB) and HCL
(21,000 LB) delivery system. Installed system, retaining ownership and responsibility for system.
 Oversaw installation of bulk HCL/TCS system that allowed elimination of test runs and four to six cylinder changes per
day, saving thousands on downtime and technician resources.
 Installed first BIOCELL unit at Fairchild to help common environmental goals with Fairchild and Maine EPA.
 Led installation of more than one dozen Apogee furnaces, later serving as equipment engineer for tools.
 Installed more than 100 cabinets throughout years. Designed and installed 60 gas valve manifold boxes

Worked on several tool sets like Novellus C1s and C2s, as well as Disco grinders and CMP polishers. Held responsibility for
chronic failures, creating proper preventative specifications and procedures. Drove down costs and increased tool uptime,
MTBF, and MTTR.
 Installed cameras/DVRs on Novellus C1 tool that caught handling errors early, preventing potential breakage on tool
and saving thousands of dollars and hours of technician troubleshooting time.
 Designed purifier system used during HCL contamination situation.
 Served instrumental in getting pneumatic CGA protection for silane gases on site, enabling auto shutdown and ensuring
technicians did not have to manually enter cabinet to close valves.
 Redesigned CDO scrubbers to eliminate foaming which caused aborts to Novellus tools. Eliminated weekly aborts on
tools. Completed ten modifications on Guardian burn boxes, Delatech CDOs, and Sdocs.
 Modified necessary parts on Novellus PMs to go from 100 hour PM to 250 hour PM, saving time and money on tools.
 Added Silane/TEOS clocks to tools to complete PMs on run basis. Increased uptime.
 Increased uptime 20% while working with process engineering to reduce particle failures on poly and nitride tools.
 Redesigned hi-vac setup on Novellus tools that allowed maintenance of forelines without venting tools, savings hours of
work and retesting.
 Designed showerhead calibration kit for Novellus C1/C2s, enabling calibration to be done in 25% of time that OEM does
it.
 Installed shutoff valve system on all of hazardous gases for Novellus/Diffusion to provide proper shutdown of gases
upon detection.
 Installed shutdown capabilities, enabling gases to remain static while tool was idle, creating near safe condition
for technicians.
