Editor's Notes
Resumes need to stand out not only to humans but to those ATS scans as well
Writing a resume that stands out in today’s job market is a lot tougher than it was in the days when humans were the first line of applicant screening.
Not only should it be easy to read for a human eye, but it should also have the keywords an ATS is scanning for.
Luckily, applicant tracking systems were created with human practicality in mind, so there are many areas in which best practices for selection overlap.
Even after your resume makes it through the applicant tracking system, most employers spend about 6 seconds reviewing each resume. For this reason, it’s incredibly important to put your most valuable information obvious. Use clear formatting, bullet points, and maximize your use of space on the page
MS Word has made it too easy and user friendly. Correct file name is necessary.
hiring managers don't have the time to go through each resume individually, so they use software, often called Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), to filter through all the resumes they receive.
Use resume keywords correctly
Identify major keywords that relate to that industry or the position that you seek.
Format your resume correctly for ATS: Stick to a traditional resume format at all times. With the advent of ATS systems, you probably need two pages to include all of the relevant keywords they’re scanning for.
The safest way to ensure that your resume will be read is to submit it in a .doc or .docx file from Microsoft Word. Even though many of the systems are now advanced enough to read a PDF, you should still send a .doc file to be on the safe side. A PDF may preserve your formatting, but it is not as easy for older applicant tracking systems to parse. A .doc file is the preferred file type for both ATS and many recruiters.
you can rise to the top of the pile and get noticed by hiring managers and human resources.
Family background states your upbringing and values nurtured
Resume can not be a generic one. It should be TUNED/aligned as per company profile and the job description. Check the company website and hierarchy. Add flavors to the write up accordingly
Sequence, priority and highlighted points can change accordingly. Of course, these files are to be saved in your personal computer naming them as per the company name so that when you get called from the respective company, you should take that respective resume along with you.
No bold or Italic . Those will be discarded in the first round itself.
Resume must reflect why you think that you are suitable to the job.
Photo or Aadhar card or passport details are needed? Indian is sufficient at this stage.
Can be submitted at a later stage as above docs if fall in wrong hands , can create a havoc (Scammers advertise jobs the same way legitimate employers do — online (in ads, on job sites, and social media), in newspapers, and sometimes on TV and radio. They promise you a job, but what they want is your money and your personal information.)
Sorted, simple ( not decorative), short but long enough to represent you ( SWOT). LinkedIn tells about your Social validation.
However, if you’ve hired people yourself, you’ll know the following to be true: As an employer, if you receive 200 résumés for an open position, maybe 10 are error-free (if you’re lucky). The rest are discarded. Of the 10 without errors, only around five will be clear, focused, and properly targeted. These five or so folks get called for interviews. Creating an error-free, clear, focused, and targeted résumé and cover letter is within your control

Academic excellence matters but your utility overpowers bookish knowledge. E.g.Prabhakar and Sona. 58% of resumes contain spelling and grammatical errors, Microsoft Word's spell check is not enough to correct all of your spelling and grammatical errors
