Resources

What are resources?
Anything that satisfies human nature
is called as a resources. Gifts of
nature like trees, water air are all
natural resources. Human are also a
type of resource as they come in help
to others; our ability to develop new
skills is also a resource. Hence, we
are human resource. The creation
that are created by the intelligence of
human like buildings are called as
man-made resource.
Value of a resource
• Some resources can be bought
and sold for money. These
resources that can be bought and
sold have Economic value. Like
crops
• Some resources that give us
pleasure are known have
Aesthetic value. Like mountains
Types of resources
• Natural resources-
These are the type of resources that are provided to us by
the nature. Like forest, air.
• Human resources-
These are the abilities of human and the nature of human
beings. Like wisdom, humor.
• Man-made resources-
These are the creations of human beings that are created by
the abilities of humans. Like buildings, roads.
Classification of natural
resources
The natural resources can be classified on the
basis of nature, stock, distribution, and level
of development.
o Nature- Biotic and Abiotic.
o Stock-Renewable and Non-Renewable.
o Distribution- Ubiquitous and Localized.
o Level of development- Actual and Potential.
Classification of natural
resources-Nature
• Biotic-
These are the type of resource that live
and have a life. Eg- tree, plants.
• Abiotic-
These are the type of resource that do not
live and do not have a life. Eg- water, air.
Classification of natural
resources-Stock
• Renewable resources-
A renewable resource, essentially,
has an endless supply such as
solar energy, wind.
• Non-Renewable resources-
These are the type of resource
that get replenish after their full
consume such as fossil fuel, coal.
Classification of natural
resources-Distribution
• Ubiquitous resources-
A ubiquitous resource is a
natural resource that is available
just about anywhere you live. Like
air, wind, water.
• Localized resources- These are
the type of resource that not
present everywhere. Like mines
and diamond.
Classification of natural resources-
Level of Development
• Actual Resources-
These are the type of resources whose
location, existence and nature have been
determined. Eg- windmill, Persian
wheel.
• Potential Resources-
These are the type of resources whose
location, existence and nature have not
been determined. Eg- uranium
Sustainable
development-
Sustainable development is using the
resources in the manner in which they
can be used in the same manner in the
future. We should use the resources in
less amount and preserve some for the
future. This part of the resource is known
as a reserve.
Steps for sustainable
development-
• Prevent wastage and excess usage of
resources
• Prevent pollution
• Preserve the biological diversity
• Recycle, reuse, and reduce
• Use more of abundant alternatives
instead of scarce resources
THANK YOU!
