This workshop/presentation by Shannah Segal covered of 7 important elements to responsive design. Specifically, what is responsive design, why is it important, and how do you need to approach this sometimes complex project.
These slides were used during a workshop on Usability Testing - an intro.
We covered the following topics:
1) What is user experience?
2) Why is usability important
3) How do we evaluate usability?
Did you know that over 20% of the world’s population has trouble using the web due to accessibility challenges? Have you thought about how accessible your website is to impaired users? Do you and your team know how to test for accessibility?
This lunch 'n learn style webinar will walk you through how to test your online assets for accessibility.
During this webinar Linn Vizard and Heather Moore from the Usability Matters team, will share with you some of the needs this audience has, design considerations geared toward making your website accessible, and how to how to conduct an accessibility focused user test.
Do you and your team know how to test for accessibility? These slides are from a recent workshop we were invited to present at #A11yTO's recent Meetup. It covers learnings from conducting accessibility testing with users, as well as some tools and tips for automated testing.
Discover some of principles and design considerations geared toward making web experiences accessible, and how to conduct an accessibility focused usability test.
In the last episode of Putting Users in UX, Steven and Terry dove into the mechanics of effective user research.
We began with tips for planning your research, including setting research objectives, choosing the right research methods, and recruiting participants.
Then we got into conducting research: the set-up, facilitating the sessions, and guiding participants appropriately to ensure you’re getting the insights you need.
Finally, we showed you how to capture and analyze your findings so that your research can be easily understood and used by the rest of the project team.
Better understand how to involve your target audiences during the design phase. Learn more about the research methods needed to ensure your target users will understand your product and can use it with ease before you invest time and money into the costly development phase.
Topics:
- Setting research objectives for the design phase
- Bringing your users into hands-on collaborative design activities such as paper-prototyping and card sorting
- Evaluating your design with users through usability testing, including in-person and remote testing
- Some of the tools available, including automated testing tools
Join us for our new webinar series Putting Users in UX.
Throughout the series we discuss research methods for involving your audiences in user experience design and development.
In episode 1, we start with methods for generating ideas and imagining the future of your app, website, or other digital product.
In subsequent episodes, we’ll examine methods for design collaboration and evaluation as well as some of the important mechanics of planning, conducting and analyzing your research.

I have over two decades of experience with residential
projects. My work ranges from small, well crafted homes
for value-conscious suburbanites to exclusive homes on
Cape Cod and luxury high-rise residences in Boston. Over 57 Wingate Street Suite 401
the years my practice has evolved to include work for Haverhill, MA 01832
educational institutions as well as commercial, retail and
hospitality clients. These projects bring a unique rigor
and perspective to my residential work.
I seamlessly incorporate sustainable strategies into every
design. I believe sustainablilty can be cost-neutral and
aesthetic-neutral. Sustainable is simply the right way to
think.
This booklet contains images and descriptions of some of
my private residential projects. In addition to completed
projects, it includes design sketches that illustrate our

Inspired by traditional New England “connected” architecture and minimalist modernism, this project renovates and adds
to an 18th century saltbox. It’s large expanses of glass over look a stunning 7 acre meadow and pond. The addition with LAZY VALLEY

design uses a range of sustainable materials including super-insulating SIPs panels. The overhanging roof and fenestration 2005-2007
are carefully crafted to maximize passive solar energy.

Our clients asked “Is it possible to create a home comfortable enough for family gatherings which is also sustainable and
‘green’?” We answered, “Of course.” Our design uses SIPs construction in the walls and roof. These super-insulating panels
offer the lowest construction cost and the highest energy efficiency. Careful site orientation controls solar gain. Radiant
