including new ’one-off’ restaurants, prototypes, quick-
service, bakeries and cafés as well as institutional dining.
These projects range from high-profile, big budget work
to small, simple eateries. In addition to leading the design 57 Wingate Street Suite 401
team, I also facilitate restaurant development studies by Haverhill, MA 01832
analysing menu-driven equipment requirements, sup-
porting front-of-house/back-of-house/ROI studies, site
selection analysis and leasing support.

This booklet contains images and descriptions of some
of my hospitality and restaurant projects. In addition
to completed projects, it includes studies and design
sketches that illustrate our process.

AURA RESTAURANT and TAMO BAR

$12.9 million construction cost .
Completed 2009.

Fishbrook Design Studio teamed with BBGM on this three phase renovation of the public areas of the Seaport Hotel in AURA RESTAURANT
South Boston. The expanded Tamo Bar takes it’s inspiration from wave forms and nautical themes. The warm woodwork and TAMO BAR
and intimate scale encourage conversation and lingering. The 4 star Aura Restaurant, Lobby and mezzanine level confer- Boston, MA
ence rooms are unified by their fresh, sophisticated nautical feel. Furnishing, upholstery and finish materials form a coordi-
nated environment that speaks of gracious, understated luxury.

Matthew founded Fishbrook Design Studio in 2004. His practice focuses
on Hospitality, Residential, Retail, Education and Commercial projects.

“I make it a priority to be directly involved with each project. My relation-
ships with owners and contractors are the cornerstone of this practice. The

A registered architect with 22 years of experience, Matthew is the father of
a twelve year old daughter and resides in North Andover, MA. Before start-
ing Fishbrook, he worked at architectural firms in Boston and Cambridge.
After 15 years at larger corporate firms he founded Fishbrook as a way of
working in a more personal and crafted manner. He has deep experience
designing institutional projects as well as high end residences. He has man-
aged retail, hospitality and public space projects. These larger, fast-track
projects provide a context for his current practice.

Matthew serves on the Historic District Commissions in Boxford and Haver-
hill. He has been appointed to the Mayor’s Downtown Development Com-
mission in Haverhill. His studio was originally located in Boxford, MA in a
renovated barn overlooking the Fish Brook. In January, 2011 the practice
moved to a loft space in the ‘Arts District’ of Haverhill, MA north of Boston.
