Job Satisfaction and Faculty Turnover Intentions: A Case of Pakistani Univers...IOSRJBM
Retaining faculty members has been a problem in many universities for decades. When competent teachers quit, they depart with critical knowledge and experience that are essential for maintaininga competitive advantage. The aim of this study was to measure the impact of four facets of job satisfaction on turnover intentions of faculty members of different universities of Rawalpindi/Islamabad. A 16-item, selfadministered questionnaire was used to gather data on independent and dependent variables. In questionnaire, researchers used 5 point Likert scale for variables to measure respondent’s possible responses. 110 questionnaires were completed and returned back. Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression tests were used to test the hypothesis. The results showed that the three facets of job satisfaction i.e. remuneration, supervisory support and work life policies have significant and negative relationship with turnover intentions while recognition has insignificant relationship with turnover intentions and this relationship did not support the researchers’ prediction. Results have been discussed andrecommendations have been made for universities’ administrations.

Recruitment Practices And Staff Performance In Public Universities: A Case St...QUESTJOURNAL
ABSTRACT: Recruitment, as a human resource management function, is one of the activities that impact most critically on the performance of any organization irrespective of its size and location. Public Universities, known to train professionals that exhibit transformative leadership and successfully run blue-chip companies have equally suffered from rampart industrial unrest and human resource malpractices across Kenya. Could it be a unique trend of organizational deviance that could be reflecting absence of a well executed staff recruitment practice? While it is understood and accepted that poor recruitment decisions continue to affect organizational performance and limit goal achievement, knowledge about this aspect in Public Universities remains scanty. The aim of this study was to address this gap by evaluating how recruitment practices affect performance of administrative staff in Public Universities using Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya as a case reference. A cross-sectional survey design was employed while sampling strategy was a blend of multiphase, stratified and purposive sampling. A sample size of 124 out of 1150 comprised mainly of administrative staff was used and that a questionnaire was the principal tool of data collection. Results were analyzed using frequency tables, mean, standard deviation and simple linear regression. The study found that a recruitment policy existed at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya and that both external and internal recruitment practices were used to recruit employees at the University. However, it was noted that most of the university employees are recruited through media advert, internal advertisement, through transfers and promotions. The results of the regression indicated that recruitment practices are a significant predictor of employee performance, which was explained by 32% of variance and a moderate relationship captured by beta weight value of 0.57. On effectiveness of the recruitment policy, only 30% rated it as effective while 62% were indifferent and 8% rated it ineffective. The study concluded that although a significant relationship between recruitment practices and employee performance existed, it’s effectiveness and therefore positive impact on employee performance depended on employees’ positive perception and rating. It’s recommended that the Universities should avoid biasness in the recruitment process as this will negatively impact on employee performance.

Recommendations Specific Strategies Adopted by Internal Quality Assurance Cel...ijtsrd
It is widely recognised that the quality higher education promotes comprehensive and multi level development by enhancing human and technical capabilities of the society. Development of higher education and development of a country are closely related. Therefore quality assurance in higher education has been one of the major challenges in the development agenda not only in India but also all over the world. In this context IQACs of NAAC accredited colleges are functioning for sustenance and enhancement of internal quality of the higher education institutions. In Odisha only 192 colleges out of 520 UGC affiliated colleges have valid NAAC accreditation status. Therefore it is significant to study the strategies adopted by IQACs in relation to follow up activities during post NAAC accreditation period. The exploratory survey method was adopted in the present study. The sample of the study comprised of 12 NAAC accredited colleges in which 6 were autonomous colleges and 6 were non autonomous colleges, 6 were rural colleges and 6 were urban colleges, 6 were government colleges and 6 were non government aided colleges. Purposive sampling techniques was adopted to select the sample colleges. The data related to NAAC recommendations and strategies adopted by IQACs during post NAAC accreditation period were collected through information cum observation schedule and taking interviews of the IQAC members and coordinators with the help of Interview Guide. Content analysis techniques was adopted for analysis and interpretation of collected data. The study reveals that IQACs are taking steps to undertake strategies to follow up the recommendation given by NAAC peer team during their visit to the institution. Autonomous colleges are in better position in comparison to non autonomous colleges. Future challenges of quality higher education needs to be linked with the proper functioning of IQACs which can sustain and enhance institutional quality. 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

3. FRANCHIZING OF COLLEGES AND ITS IMPACT ON EDUCATIONAL
INSTITUTIONS.
INTRODUCTION
Franchising system continues its unstoppable advance in the whole world as in
the developed and developing countries. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is a
topic that centers the attention of research on the area of business now a day.
Usually franchising system is a dual system constituted by own and franchisee
units. The objective of this study is to compare the efficiency of own units
opposite to the franchisee units. This field of research has not been very
developed and scantily treated on the scientific international research. This study
reveal an analysis of the efficiency and effectiveness of franchisee college in
Pakistan, shows how private management is overlapping, revealing the
implication for future opportunities to "franchise" an educational model.
KEY WORDS: Franchising, Franchisor, Franchisee, Efficiency, Effectiveness,
Dual system.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Franchising is arrangement where one party (the franchiser) grants another party
(the franchisee) the right to use its trade-mark or trade-name as well as certain
business systems and processes to produce and market a good or service to
certain specification.
Franchising has been on up now a day’s especially in educational system. Much
more has been said about the positive aspects of franchising in literature but
there is a little about the negative impacts of franchising in service sector.
According to Richard L. Priem (2005), The errand of franchising gives rise to
several flaws and short comings which lead to inefficiency in business enterprise.
3
4. The onrush trend of franchising is undoubtedly lucrative for business
entrepreneur but it is lowering the standard of education. Curry et, al (2002).
Franchisor are more interested in giving services in the field of education and in
making money but franchisee tends towards earning money.
Franchising provides an increasingly important vehicle for entrepreneurial wealth
creation and accounts for large and growing share of business in the service
sector (Sorenson-Strategic Management Journal 2001). Franchising help us to
enhance and expand our business as well as entrepreneurial skills.
Franchising is already an important component of global strategy in many service
sectors (Sk kundu-Journal of international Marketing 1998). Global strategy is
also using franchising systems to increase their efficiency and effectiveness all
over the world.
Franchising results negative, when have impact of agency theory. (Rajiv P. Dant,
2008). Agency theory has impact on franchised units in which principal and agents
have conflict of interest. Agency theory is the branch of financial economics that
looks at conflicts of interest between people with different interests in the same
assets.
