2. The use of plug is
good because it is
clear to see as it is
yellow and quite large
I think however that
the sizing might be
wrong on this text as
it is bigger than the
features.
Genre : children’s
This image is placed over
the film magazines title. I
like this effect because it
makes it look almost 3D.
The genre which is
children’s is well matches
to this as the colours are
bright using orange and
yellows. I don’t think the
background works with the
genre however because I
think they could of used a
brighter colour like red.
It is interesting the
way they have listed
there features
conventionally bullet
points might have
been used however
this time they have
just listed.
Over all I have noticed that
there isn’t a lot of text on the
page but the text that is on
there they have listed to add a
lot of information on the
page.
I think the colour scheme
stands out but they could
have matched this with the
orange of his hair.
The placing of the image is
also interesting because he
is placed on the rule of
thirds this allows the cover
lines to be added to the
side without interfering
with the image.
3. This magazine cover is a
slightly more crowded
one there is a lot to be
packed in. I also think
the text is too pushed
around the image. I do
however think that the
use of the cover lines
added around and
having the effect of it
being pushed
backwards is unique
and makes him look as
if he is bursting out
from the middle this
shows power.
I like that he is
placed directly in
the centre as this
portrays power too
along with the
stance he is in.
Genre : Action film
With the text going
backwards gives the
impression that this is a
action film this is good as
the text should match
with the genre as I have
learnt while analyse. I do
however think that the
stretched text is hard to
read this is probably why
a lot of film magazine stay
clear of this effect.
The image can also
tell us a lot about this
film because it tells
us that there is
action. It also is very
similar to 007 and it
also has references to
this on the cover
lines.
4. I have also noticed that
this magazine doesn’t
have many cover lines
this isn’t something
that I think is helpful for
marketing as it doesn’t
tell you much about
what’s inside.
The text to this
magazine is interesting
because it is cracked
this is conventional
seen in horror movies
and action either to
give the effect of being
disjointed or thrilling. In
this case it also gives
the illusion of being
destroyed.
Although his costume
matches the action
conventions of being
dark I think her could
have had a different
colour to match the
background as he just
blends in.
I like the fact that the
gun is covering the title
this shows that he is
the centre of attention.
The gun is very close to
the camera so I think
that we are pulled into
the film with him.
5. The plug from the
top of the magazine
can be seen when it
is on the
newsstand. While
advertising the new
film this means the
audience and the
producers are
happy.
I think their
costumes could
have been red to
match with the
colour scheme only
one of them do
this.
The box that sits in
the lower centre takes
up most of the page
but I think it is picked
up through the
overcrowding of the
overall magazine.
The image I think works
well because they are in
the centre and as a
composition are all
placed on the rule of
thirds with Harry as the
main character in the
centre.
The tag lines of ‘plus’
are placed in a box I like
this idea as it stands out
this is something I will
added into my own
magazine.
The title of ‘Harry potter’ I
think could have been in
the official text that can
be seen on the film
because this would make
it look more official.
6. The image on the front
cover doesn’t tell us
much about the genre
of the film it is very
plain. Normally the
costume would give us
a clue but this isn't the
case here.
I like the plug that
has been added at
the top of the page it
is placed on black
background and is in
bold colours.
The title of the film is in
block capitals this makes
it stand out I think they
have made the right
decision by placing it in
white. I also like how the
text above is Scottish as
this is the films dialect.
The tag lines are
not too over
crowded this makes
them easier to
read. Most of the
text is over the
picture so the cover
lines are just to
advertise the
magazines other
features for the
week.
There is also text in a
circle shape this is
conventional done in
magazines because
sometimes a lot of
text can look too
heavy so this helps it
stand out.
7. I don’t think the
background of this
magazine works
because I think it
should have been in
the woods where
the film is based.
This box also gives a
chance to advertise
other genre of films
other than the one
on the front cover.
This band that is
running behind the
picture is a
convention which I
have seen a few
times I like this
because it pulls the
features out from
the rest of the
cover.
This magazine cover
has a range of
different colours the
main being yellow
and red they have
matched this with
everything
throughout this I
think good and I will
do this when I come
to design mine.
I like the fact that the
title is in the films
official text this
makes it look
professional and
different styles of
text draw the eye to
all areas of the
poster.
