The Rescue Mat Users Guide provides instructions for deploying and using the Rescue Mat, a tool for water, ice, or swamp rescue. It can be deployed by a single person to quickly rescue multiple victims. It reduces response times and risks to first responders. The guide outlines how to remove the mat from storage and unroll it, maneuver it towards victims either with one or two rescuers, and pull victims to safety. It also provides directions for using the mat in currents, as a ferry to transport multiple victims, cleaning and repacking the mat after use.

35. Some brushing may be required to loosen mud or algae on the Rescue Mat; care should be exercised to prevent scratching the cover while brushing it and only soft brushes should be used

36. All soap and other residue should be rinsed off the mat

37. To simplify cleaning, and for drying afterwards, the Rescue Mat should stand on its side rather than laying flat.
