After you truncate the file make sure to run the Inbox Repair Tool on the truncated file. Open the repaired .pst file in Outlook. In case the file does not open, abandon the truncated file, and once again repeat process with the original .pst file. Truncate more data than in the first attempt, and try the process again. Note: There are occasions when this tool can also delete some of your emails.
